    Ok I’m going to defend season one of shield hero. First off it’s not necessarily that he wants a slave it’s that he doesn’t have a choice. He has no offensive abilities and is unable to form a party because of the allegations thus making it impossible to level up and preform his duty’s as the shield hero. Second he has only ever used the crest that one time to make her face her fears but despite what is said she isn’t instantly cured of her ptsd. That comes later when nofumi tells her to run from a demon dog but she chooses for herself to stay and help him. The only one interested in a romantic relationship is raftalia with the shield hero seeing her as more of his daughter then a slave. When they decided to take the slave crest off her it’s not due to her wishes it’s because the princess who originally made the false allegations convinced the spear hero to by feigning concern. The only reason it’s put back on is because raftalia sees it as her connection to the man that saved her from the hell she was living in and while he doesn’t stop her from regaining it he also doesn’t encourage her instead making sure this is what she wants. She is a slave only in name and besides for the very start when he had just been betrayed he never treats her as such even putting his life on the line to save her and learning to make medicine to cure her. And as for the slaves he later acquires I can’t speak on the latest two since I have yet to watch it but filo is hatched into the party and is given a crest as a way to add her to the party and the girl kicked out of the bow hero’s party asked for one because she’s a coward by nature and wants to change that. Personal I think the story has kind of fallen off but I felt like stepping in to defend season one at least. Also for the skeleton knight wtf did you think should be depicted to show off slavers and bandits? Did you think slavery was all just forced manual labor and that’s where it ended? It wasn’t trying to be comfortable it had to show off just how uncomfortable and rage inducing it is to make you want to root for the hero and give you a stronger reason to want to see this system end

    one of the weirdest examples of this that i’ve read was in this romance isekai called They Say I Was Born a King’s Daughter. The MC is a girl born in this violently misogynistic society where women are basically slaves, but she’s born as the “special” daughter of the Emperor so she gets to have rights while every other woman doesn’t. Well, at one point in the story, she sees this pregnant slave working and she gets upset seeing that. The MC’s pos brother says something like “why are you crying? they’re just slaves.” The MC ends up giving her slaves the day off (yes, a singular day off, but don’t worry they have food! /j) and that’s the most she ever does regarding slavery.

    I think like most female villians end up being forgotten. And the ones that are remembered tend to be sexualized. Am I running for my life or am I just supposed to be attracted to them?

    that is a issue I never thought about, especially with the anime industry with female directors. I know in 2024 a lot manga and light novels get turned into anime and many works done by women have be adopted and praised and more women are in manga and in anime industry (sadly a lower positions )

    @@RabbitShirak that is true most boys are socialized to fight or bully each other in school or at summer camp etc.. but it doesn't mean they can't learn to talk things out or let alone talk about their feelings. As for fighting girls, is something we don't want to see IRL in the content of anime it can be different both sides are engaged in combat and its not power dynamic (one side abusing the other side)

    I mean isn't this what this light novel adaptations are in the end? Just writers shoving in their thoughts and desires in the lines. Some of these weird desires stick, some don't. Harems, overly assertive girls, sexual scenes, morally ambiguous sexual scenes etc. And then there are the 'bold' ones that shamlessly display vulger stuff, r*pe, abuse etc. Mainly why I stay away from these anime.

    Nope, its a reality, of course its an American whining about it. Some of the best isekai have slavery in it, who cares.. Nobody is bitching about "Oh man Slavery is in Game of thrones" "Oh man slavery is in movies". Shield Hero is great, Mushoku is great, and he saved Raphtalia becomes a hero. Don't buckle Anime, first they'll complain about this, and then if you give them that, then they'll start bashing women being "objectified" and then Anime will be just like all the garbage Hollywood "entertainment" we have now like the Acolyte or Rings of Power.

    And I am not "Pro Slavery" in anime, It is definitely something that has made me feel uncomfortable watching.. However, I am all for LEAVING anime/LN/Manga creators alone.. Once you start putting limiters on them, regardless of what they are, then the floodgates will begin and it is only going to get worse and worse, I can barely watch current day shows with their forced crap, "for everyone" but actually for way less people, and just horrible and non creative writing.

  • @IvanUnova
    @IvanUnova26 күн бұрын

    It's not bad if a fictional story has slavery in it as long as it is handled well. When the story is glorifying slavery in any way, that's when it becomes bad (such as making the mc a kind enslaver just because he treats them well or something), or making the mc look like a joke because the mc claim to hate slavery and wants to destroy it only to end up contributing to it and was shown outright enjoying having his own slaves in the end. And will you shut up, so what if she is American? People have the rights to have morals if they want to regardless of nationality or race. I'm a Filipino and still understand her (mostly because I know my own country and people has been enslaved by other nations such as Spain AND Japan) and she has even worded everything I wanted to say. Let me guess, you are an American yourself and you're disagreeing with her, surprise.

  • @addidaswguy
    @addidaswguy26 күн бұрын

    @@IvanUnova yes I am American, but annoying Amercians think our way is "the right way" and want to impose it onto the rest of the world. A story is a story, it doesn't matter if they make things look good, bad, whatever, it's fiction, and nobody should ever have to worry about what people think is "right" when they write fiction. That's why 95% of current day media SUCKS and why Anime doesn't, because they don't let whiny people on the Internet dictate their writing, and if they ever do, it'll be just as bad as everything else
