I see a lot of comments around saying the lock in with the Resin is a deal breaker and they want to tinker. Fair point but from my personal experience this need or desire to have that control is the deal breaker for people getting into resin printing. Creating supports was my gate keeper. Spending an hour to support a model when i started wasn't worth the time. Now that i have a family and kids if I was to start now dialing in a printer is a show stopper. Currently I have my GK2 dialed in for Sunluu toughness. I don't have the time or desire to buy any other resin due to the setup time. So while it may be a deal breaker to some it is a deal maker for many. I will definitely look to Heygears in the future when my GK2 dies. Also from a manufacturing perspective the time save on cleanup and higher likely hood of success with this printer is 100% worth the money. To the few who say this is a carbon copy of forms lab only slightly less money. You are not even in the ball park of being accurate. Completely different technology and approach very similar business model though. With regards to the price. The Form 4 is 2.5 times the prices of the Heygears. Heygears is 1800 vs the Form4 at 4500. That is a significantly lower price. Formlab resin starts at $99 up to $250. Heygears ranges from $60 to $99. Again a significant reduction in price. So yeh get half a clue before making a clueless statement like that.

8:31 Any chance we could get a link to that one specific AMS Drybox print model? I've been looking for hours and haven't been able to find it. I just like this one design allot, it weirdly meshes really well with the AMS unit and general Bambu Labs atheistic.

After having to return TWO Kobra 2 Max printers because they were both defective out of the box, I am done with Anycubic FDM printers. That was absolutely frustrating to sink the $400-$500 on this thing and then spend an afternoon assembling and trying to set it up, only to have them both have major defects (one couldn’t complete the setup “Homing” guide and started grinding on its rails. The other couldn’t get the test shark bottle opener to print and it wasted a bunch of my filament). Fortunately, they were willing to RMA both devices for a refund. I purchased an Elegoo Neptune 3 Max instead and am hoping to have better luck once I get the opportunity to assemble it. It’s been an ordeal and nerve-wracking as I’m trying to print some statuettes for a business. All this lost time has been lost money.

It's very slightly better than it was 15 years ago and it's "impressive" in that you can print in colour at all, but I don't understand what others are seeing. It looks like crap. The only few downsides I have with the 8KS is that one 1cm heigh can come in handy, but i think the majority won't reality notice and the other thing is that it doesn't support multislicing. It's something a lot of folks won't really care again, but for my projects where I do need that smoother 25um or 35um layer, but don't want to print the entire model in that configuration can be a tad annoying especially if it's a tall model, but again that's more of my issue with the machine, that a lot of people won't care. Also job files are not interchangeable with the regular Mini 8K, it uses a different format for some reason, but then again it's not the same machine so makes sense why it's like that.

"The end of painting by hand?!" - When the media industry went digital "The end of tapes!" - When CD's were introduced Just a couple of examples where an end was heralded but as humans, we like and value individuality. You don't get that with machine production of anything from a chair to a painting, the nuance is missing, the errors, the mistakes, the intentional individual differences, for this reason I would say hand painting such things will still be done for a long time to come. Though if there are less people doing such, any who do such as a service may increase their prices. As happens once automation / machine production takes over in the bulk of a given sector. 150 years ago buying a hand made wooden chair was what everyone did and as many made them by hand they were cheap enough, today it would cost most people more than they could afford with any ease so most buy the machine produced XYZ item because its mostly the only option they have and can afford but with that is then the loss of individuality.

Aww fantastic point! well made. I love seeing this kind of discussion come my way. Yeah you are right. People still Oil Paint even though digital painting exists. and in the computer space with all the virtual tools available, people can and have pushed that further to create incredible new visual styles. I can see a future where people do that on miniatures too. I know it's done now in videogames where people digitally paint 3D models. But people being able to 3D print a model and then create a physical version of it will inspire more people to digitally paint 3d models. and once again create new and inspiring ways to showcase physical things. It's exciting times, and miniature painting is going nowhere soon, but it is going the way 2d art starte to go 30 years ago. I'll check back here in 30 years to see if this is the case.

agreed, I have a new video on this out this week
This is like saying it's the end of paintings because we can print copies of the greatest works of art. It's a new option. And as much as a new option may become popular, it doesn't necessarily kills other options.
I can only assume based on the comment you are responding to the thumbnail more than the content of the video. because you just made the same point as me in the form of an counter?
i applogize if this is an easy to find answer, but are these gel-based acrylics like some of their other higher end lines?
