    Isn't it funny how those speaking against Peterson don't debate the issues, but rather engage in character assassination of Peterson. If you can't win on facts, ad hominem will do as a tactic.

    Jordan is too smart for the people of his era to understand but they will understand after half to one century. Well this has happened throughout history, In recent history Malcolm X was one of those who were extremely smart and born in an absolutely wrong era when people’s thought process was blocked and overwhelmed by racial hatred and prejudices.

    if you leave the whole gender issue aside, everything is about, how someone negotiates his/her personality within a society. This process never was a one way street. To get accepted by the society, by the people who are sourrounding you, you have to obey to a certain set of rules. If somebody steps out of this frame, such person wont be well received by everybody else, and therefore will not be very successful within the society. A society dont need any laws within thís framework to function properly. People who use racial slurrs and hate speech, will be treated as such, as it allways was. People who are unable to behave themselfs, will not be accepted or respected by others. This is how a human society works. The problem allways starts, when the goverment steps in, interfearing in these negotiating processes within a society.

    Exactly. This is the issue with the gun control debate. The biggest threat is ALWAYS the government having supreme power. It's not a good idea to allow them to have more than they should. It's incredibly counterproductive, and flies completely in the face of the idea of the "sovereignty of the individual".

    Professor Bryson seems to be on the autism spectrum. It seems research has now shown that trans men are over represented on the autism spectrum. It raises questions as to whether young teen females exposed to gender spectrum studies in middle school can be convinced to change their gender identity for self-protection and to manage social anxiety that spikes when interactions with males is nerve-racking. A high need to make sense of their sexual identity and a higher need to protect themselves from unwanted male attention compels them to take the option of identifying as male. Gender Studies is questionable and not appropriate for elementary, middle school, and high school children.

    "Claiming to be wise, they became fools." Romans 1:22 "For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error." Mandated speech should never be required by any government. The left has already stated that speech is violent. Individuals should never allow the government to tell you what you may, can or must say, nor should you allow any government to prohibit any speech. This is not an issue of empathy and being nice. This is an issue of the State using force, threatening not only sanctions, but legal fee's and then bankruptcy. The State should never be able to force you to say or believe anything. This is about power, delusions, deranged emotions and the denial of truth and facts. Truth and facts, by the way, are the things that exist whether you believe them or not.

    "It's not what we think" - note that it was one of the leftists that interrupted, which of course is their modus operandi. I also was amused by the statement from the moderator, "she lays out the science and the actual scientific findings" when what she did was make claims of evidence without actually perpetuating said evidence. Some citations might have been useful.

    6m:30s she says the law prohibits "public incitement of hatred" and "willful promotion of hatred". Any lawyer could argue - and be given credence by fools - that almost ANY speech that someone dislikes meets one of both of those criteria.

    What these ladies don'tt get is that it is NOT about being kind and using someone's pronoun. It's about the STATE stepping in and _forcing_ you to! The issue of pronoun usage does not rise to the occasion of allowing govt to sanction or compel speech. End of story. Free speech is far too valuable too a democratic, rights-oriented society for it to be trampled upon by mere offense. I'm so lucky that the U.S. has the First Amendment.

    Jordan says there's a difference between the gov telling you that you can't say something as opposed to the gov telling you that you have to say something. Ok so what if it's mandatory that you are not allowed to call a trans woman a man nor use pronouns that ppl do not want to be referred to by. Would Jordan have a problem with that?

  • @thebrsrkr6428
    @thebrsrkr6428 Жыл бұрын

    Yes, because that's still the government telling you that you have to say something. The law is very specific on what you cannot say and why. It is always for a specific purpose, at a specific time, in a specific locus. For example, you can't yell fire in a theater because the resulting panic in a perfectly dark room is highly likely to result in death or grievous harm. However, the government cannot tell you GENERALLY not to yell fire.

    In my sex and gender course, years before Peterson and this bill, I was being taught that sex operates on a spectrum. When I asked for the statistics of how many people's chromosomes don't adhere to maleXY and femaleXX (such as XXY) and the percentage was less than 1%, I was shocked. How on earth can you call that a spectrum?? Inclusion? Yes. Denial of facts and science? NO. This is the hill we will die on.
