Which ( irrigation) water tape do you use? Which main hose do you connect them to?
Drip tape is P1-51525-08-4100 ,and the main line is just 3/4" black poly pipe, mine has a blue stripe running the length of it but any 3/4" poly pipe will work. May God bless you!
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork Is VAM better than MYKOS? I ask because MYKOS is available locally an dis cheaper. Thanks.
Vam has 6 or 7 strains whereas mycos has one.
Thats an amazing garden, absolutely beutiful and well kept. How does he keep the weeds out? Does he just stay on top of hoeing?
I don't do much hoeing actually, I do more bending down and pulling weeds to make sure I get the roots and I try not to EVER let a weed go to seed. The biggest help in keeping it weed free is no-till and drip irrigation. May God bless you!
Enjoyed seeing your wife make bread . Yes please more food videos . We like the garden videos also .
Glad you like the cooking videos! Hopefully we'll get more cooking videos put together. 😊
First year planting lots of tomatoes. I thought I was keeping up cutting the suckers. They are everywhere and now I have a wild tomato patch.
Don't give up just dive in and and start breaking suckers off no matter how big they are! May God bless you!
Do you have a video of how you keep weeds out of the garden?
So nice to have a little cow.
A 80year looking 20years. Power of gardening right there
No worries, I'm not near 80🤣
For those of us that are limited to grow bags, is there some suggestions on how to handle this situation? I generally use 15 gallon grow bags with square cages that are 4/5 ft high and 15 inches square. I generally don't do too much sucker removal but not capable of having the trellis system that you have in your videos.
Your cage method is probably the next best thing if you can't rig up a trellis system, I'm sure there's a way you can do a trellis system even if your grow bags are on a deck,if you email me some pictures of your setup I could maybe recommend something. [email protected]
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork OK, just emailed you a picture. LeRoy
I haven't received any email yet
@@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork Gave it another try.
Nothing yet double check your spelling.
So for the double leader. If I understand correctly you allow one sucker to grow as well as the main stem?
I read further down about a “natural Y” how does one identify the natural Y? Thanks for all the great insight.
You can do it that way but the plant will naturally Y at about 12 to 18" up from the ground. May God bless you!
Instead of a leaf branch the main just splits into a Y and you'll have two growth tips at basically the same size kinda hard to describe, hope this helps
Thats something i find on the first several fruits then it stops happening.
I use eggshells when I have that problem, I just save up my eggshells good big bowl full get out the blender and turn them to dust works fantastic.😎🙏🇺🇸👍
Vision corn are the best can't get seed anymore
Hopefully it'll be available for next season!
QUESTION: I'm a brand new gardener. Can I put dead squash & cucumber leaves that have leaf miner trails on them in my compost pile. I know some things that have disease shouldn't be put in the pile but I wasn't sure about these... Thanks!!
Yes that is fine as long as your compost heats up properly. Blessings!
Outstanding videos, gentlemen! Luke, I'm curious how many varieties your dad grows? What are his favorites to grow for production in your area?
Just discovered your channel here. Thank you for the outstanding videos! This looks like a highly potent mix! Can't wait to try it. Any idea on the total cost for this amazing growing mix?
Does this work for peppers too?
Sure will.
Your garden is amazing! This is a garden of my dreams
This is my third year of gardening and im still learning, i live in Belgium, we had horrible spring with 2 months of constant rain and very low temperatures, add on top of it slug invasion, i felt i was going to lose my crops. But watching channels like yours i managed to save everything .Your garden is amazing, i love your channel and i'm obsessed with your tomato trellis, i will try and make one just like yours next year. Thank you for all the tips and advice you've given us,wish you all the best! Greeting from the cold and humid Belgium.
Love hearing your gardening journey and glad to help you out on it! Glad you are finding our content useful! May God bless you!
So many expert growers, on youtube! What did we do before the clips? As a tomato plant grows the new growth is soft and can be gently wound around the string as it grows. I do not recommend clips in windy areas they cause damage to the stems which causes disease entry points. I love the clips but in windy areas they are not ideal.
So far I've never had any issues with the slight damage the clips cause, you're right though about the clips in windy area's.
I like it! Thank you!
You're welcome! 😊
I love the pepper seed idea!
Do you have cucumber beetles in Washington state?
Yes but not terrible, I believe that I'd your plants are healthy you won't have pest pressure.
@@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork Thank you!
I have another question: suppose you are growing a variety that can get 1lb +, or even 2lb + but you get a fruit that weighs say 10-12 oz. Is it not a good idea to save seed from a runted fruit? Can 'runt' genes carry, even if its weather stress that causes the runts?
Yes the seed still has the same genes as if it came from a bigger fruit as ar as I know but I'm not a geneticist,I always save seed from my largest fruit but that doesn't mean that the next generation will produce anything of the same size.
@@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork Thank you sir!
Frankly I don't prune suckers unless I want to control the size of the plant. I have a question: is good or bad to prune ALL the suckers when trying for a monster fruit? I pruned a lot on my Westerlund to get the 2lb fruit but I don't think I got em all. 🤔
Generally speaking we usually remove all suckers and growing tips after the plant reaches the size we think is sufficient to bring the blossom to full potential,if you have a huge mega then you'll want more plant,if smaller blossom you'll want smaller plant.
@@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork Thanks!! 😊
My tomato plants are showing leaf curl . The leafs are in good condition otherwise. The leaves are even curled in the morning after a rain. (Less but still apparent) . I have drip irrigation so im somewhat confident its not related to water. I made new raised beds for them this year and im thinking i may have made a mistake. The beds are only 2' wide and are 16" tall, I used barn metal for the sides. Im thinking my soil may be too hot. (82° at 12" deep). Could that be my issue.
Are they curling up or down?
Up
If the plant looks healthy otherwise I wouldn't worry about it all as it's usually a sign of plenty of nutrients in the soil as my plants always have curled leaves,so if I can grow more world record tomatoes than anyone I don't think you need to worry about it! 🤣
High soil temp is definitely something you want to reduce just for the overall health of the plant.
I kind of thought leaf curl wasn't the end of the tomato being they seem to be growing well and setting plenty of fruit. My only real trouble seems to be blossom end rot. It's bad this year. Nearly all of my early fruit had it. I even used about 1 gallon of wood ash per 20' row.
very good to know. thankyou
New subscriber here. So tired of wasting time on myths. Need proven methods. Also adding scripture at the end hooked me. 😅
👏👏👏👏👏 ❤🕊️
Thank you, both!
Great video.
I just started using kelp this year and so far I like the results!
I’m really enjoying your channel. Thank you!
Glad you enjoy it! May God bless you!
I usually use old milk that expires and it correct the problem
So is the second leader just a sucker that you let grow? Looks like maybe that's a good idea after the plant is about a foot tall or so?
The plant naturally Ys about 12 to 16" tall but if for some reason it doesn't you certainly can let a sucker grow! May God bless you!
Okay, thanks so much!
How dare you challenge Communist Party Members' right to gorge themselves on public funds.
Please explain.
You also said that you would have like to get the 15mil 6inch emitters, do you think that you may have to switch the drip tape out or will 8 inch work for the most part? Also I found the 6 inch 15mil drip tape at OneStop but they only sell them in 500 foot not 1,000
8" has worked for years but if my supplier could get me the 6" I'd do that next time I replace it.
is there perhaps a common fertility program for all vegetables - eggplants, tomatoes, squashes, zucchini, broccoli, spinach whatever else. i certainly know and understand different plants uptake more say potassium than other nutrients and so perhaps a video for the common or general fertility progam and then individual videos on particular crops for their different peculiar treatment. hope i got the point across...mygreathanks and blessings
Great background music!
Thanks! Thanks for subscribing! May God bless you!
thank you for the tour of the most beautiful garden
You're most welcome! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I just became a member. You two are wonderful! I have lots of questions. I’m in Albuquerque , NM, FYI. I will formulate my questions & present them to you soon.
Wow! Thank you for becoming a member!😊👍 Your membership helps me be able to take more time from my regular work to make more content, etc! Priority comment reply perk applies to silver membership or higher. You are at the titanium level, but we'll try to help you with your questions!
Is this a 1 inch filter or 3/4inch? Can you please send a link with the 10 psi reducer and where to get the filter
The filter is 3/4" and so is the pressure regulator, the regulator is a high flow unit so I can water my whole garden at once. Regulator is a Nelson brand and I'm not sure about the filter, I'll see if I can find out. Blessings to you!
Thanks I think the filter I found was generically DIG MNPT Y filter with stainless steel screen and mesh but the Nelson I could not find with 1.0BAR and 10psi but I found 15psi/1.0BAR
Drip tape is rated for 10 psi.
Thank you for clarifying 😅
@@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork Some of these regulars on Amazon was $50.00
Not me literary mid pruning my determinate store bought tomato plant as soon as your video comes on…😅😅😅😅. Welp now i know for next time lol being new to growing anything there is a lot to learn 😅
What is your thoughts on the suckers on Corn remove or leave?
Leave them on,there's been many studies showing it makes no difference, if it did the farmers would have made a machine to cut them off😁 May God bless you!
Many thanks again to you your Dad! There are so many young growers out there who go with too much hype, and lack the many years of experience. On the subject of tomato growing. I have heard (not BER related) that the first nation's people used to bury fish for their tomato growth. Has this been proven ?
I wouldn't know,we hear stories about that but who knows, not me😊
Your Dad reminds me of Charles Dowding with his layout, success and enthusiasm! 🤩 What part of the states are you in?
We're in SE Washington state. Blessings to you!
I keep any suckers that have fruiting leaves 😂😂😂
They all have fruiting branches. Blessings!
Enjoyed. God bless
Thanks much!
Always enjoy your videos. How many plants of tomatoes do you plan to get the 100-plus pounds for sauce?
There's about 18 or so. Blessings to you!
