CubbyVanLife

We are Nita Hughes, Glenn Hughes and Charlie! With this channel, we aim to share the great places we've visited and stayed in our 2019 RAM Promaster van along with the great local foods, cocktails and adult beverages we've enjoyed on the road while traveling around the United States (not while driving of course!) . We've been full-time "road people" off and on for more than 16 years and our current adventure began back in June of 2021. We bought our van with just one mile on it (our first ever new vehicle) back in June of 2020 and spent the year of COVID building it out. We hit the road exactly one year to the day from when we picked it up from the dealer in upstate New York. We've learned a lot along the way and hope to share what we've learned with other vanlifers and wannabe vanlifers. #cubbyvanlife #vanlife

Well, you were very fortunate to get a spot anywhere around that lake and not find anyone. I’ve lived in Arizona most of my life, and years ago that was the norm. You could go practically anywhere and not find people. Now, forget it. No matter where you go you will finds loads of young people playing their damn noisy music, partying and getting blind drunk. You just can’t enjoy peace and quiet anymore, anywhere. So, count yourselves very fortunate. My idea in camping is what I did way up north in northern Ontario, Canada. Unbelievable. We went to a provincial park called Algonquin Park and did some portaging. That’s where you go from lake to lake carrying your canoe and gear between each lake. Best camping trip I ever been on. Nobody, absolutely nobody around except my friend and I. And the sounds of the loons on the lake at night was absolutely beautiful. Gotta go back one day, but, like everywhere else these days, it’s over run by noisy drunken young people. Don’t want to be around that at all. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the insight. You can still find private places to camp in many areas, however, almost never on the weekend. As a retired person who lives full-time in my van, I have to say the Friday is by far my most hated day of the week. Mondays are a dream. Thank God most people work Monday through Friday so we can get some privacy.

The state of Colorado is such a beautiful state! Microbrews are one of my husband’s favorite things! 😀We loved visiting Creede (probably 7 years ago). Stephen Quiller, an internationally well known artist and art workshop instructor has a studio in Creede. The outside of the gallery is lavender. The upstairs studio has a wood stove and the back door is open to the mountains. Most of his paintings are of mountains, trees streams and the general terrain in the area. He is also known for his color theory chart which is displayed in the studio. He still travels with his wife and teaches in many European countries. Sorry, probably more than you wanted to know. (I am a plein air watercolor painter.)😊 Thank you for sharing your adventures in Creede. Looking forward to your next Colorado video.👍

new subscriber here. one observation of mine after looking at just one othere video (Gunnison) would be to incorporate the use of putting up a map when describing where you're at, where you're going etc. so the viewers are able to follow along. it would be useful to show where exactly the video is taking place and how relates to the rest of the state geographically speaking. 👍

When I do my build, I want the kitchen in the back with the sink above a shower pan that goes all the way across the floor from side to side so if there is a leak, the water drains to the gray tank. Your build is great though. I'm impressed with the cabinetry.

As someone who is from that area that is pretty much the spring and summer scene for Roosevelt lake. Too bad y'all didn't take the time to get some amazing Globe/Miami style Mexican food though! Apache Trail (road out to Roosevelt from Globe) has Guayos' that is a very popular spot for 'boat' people (as we locals refer to them as) to stop and eat before heading to the lake. I greatly enjoyed your vlog 😊 Thanks for sharing.

Not only have they jumped big in price im not fan of the push button before you can unlatch; one side feels more natural but the there opposite you feel like you need flip your hand. Yes they also scratch real easily. Glass doesnt and glass is also flat doesnt bulge outward asking to get scratched. Now is glass have better thermal properties probably not but are you going to really notice in small space with heater going anyways and glass window off eBay say 200$ same size from TERN 750$ Also i dont know it the arm attachment is screw to frame or riveted, i have found rivets get sloppy over time
