I recently flew with Qantas from Melbourne to Hong Kong in a A330.I was looking forward to this flight as it would be the first I have flown with Qantas since the pandemic and all the negative publicity Qantas has received lately. I was seated about half way in the plane in 34A. The first meal service the options were chicken or beef. I wanted the chicken but they had run out by the time they got to me. (I was half way in the plane). The beef was inedible, gristle and fat, the vegetables were just okay. The second service was a repeat on the first, they had run out of my choice by the time they got to me and I was offered beef again, it was stir fly and was so tough I couldn't eat it. I was really hoping Qantas would be getting better but alas it was not to be. My return journey from Seoul was marginally better. the service was just okay, not much engagement and certainly not the Qantas I have experience in the past. Hears hoping Qantas can get their mojo again as it is the flag carrier of Australia it would be my preferred choice,

This is actually an "older" configuration of the A350-900. Air France is flying a new config with 292 seats (56 in business class) that is even nicer than this. It is a fully enclosed suite (the door closes all the way), has a tablet for all the controls and has USB-C. Sadly, there is no plans to upgrade this configuration to the newest one.

We used to do a double meal service in Y both hots and the seat pitch wasn’t great but not as bad as current. It’s sad as a retired FA of 33 years that when you mention you worked for QF the response is always negative. I was once proud of my employer now it’s safer to not mention you worked for them. Sad.

6hour 45 min is hardly a long haul flight so you need to lower your food expectations. A snack before bed and a light breakfast a few hours later is more then enough

A few observations and questions after watching this vid. I didn't see any bad service being provided - maybe your talking about "what" they served you as opposed to bad service being provided by the employees. Also not sure what you expected by your seat selection when it comes to having or not having extra legroom. Many A330's are configured like that (in my experience). Old worn down plane from 2010.? They don't just turn over planes like that - maybe your right and maybe you just got an older plane by chance. WI-FI can sometimes also be a hit and miss too. In the end yes agree that food for a long haul was a 2 out of 5.

When I do a review of a flight I compare with my expectations based on my flights with other (int this case legacy) airlines on similar routes. And regarding this flight the food, the seat, the legroom and also the service standard was below expected standard. It’s not that I am on a crusade against QF. If you watch other QF videos on my channel, I have appreciated earlier flights. Thanks for watching.

I don’t really see what you have to complain about here? Everything looks fine? And if you did your research, you would know Qantas does not offer wifi service until later this year, and then it’s only while over Australia. Sorry, this video gets a dislike from me.

Thai announced in may that they sold six 777-200, identification numbers HS-TJA to HS-TJH. Dont know if it was their intire fleet of the model-or if they kept six others?

Qantas would respond that Sin Melb is regional not long haul. Being over night they maximise sleep time assuming people had dinner in the lounge. There should be a hot option at breakfast. Qantas relies on brand loyalty and huge frequent flyer members to capture customers.

In the past I skipped Phuket because of the too expensive flights. Thanks to the LCC I could go there ( Airasia was than 300 baht one way) But becoming older, I rather skip the LCC’s because of all the hassle and… extra’s such as luggage, food, boarding pass printing,…

In general, I wouldn't bother flying domestically from Bangkok to somewhere like Phuket. You're better off making a road trip out of it by renting a car in Bangkok and driving down there and back. Now with that said, it depends on what kind of tourist you are. If you don't live in Thailand, are coming to the country for tourism and mainly to spend time in Phuket and can't fly there directly from abroad, then flying via Bangkok makes perfect sense but in that case fly THAI or Bangkok Airways not a low cost carrier.

@andersfant4997 I've never flown to Phuket or down south actually at least not in my adult life. Maybe we flew down there, when I first visited as a toddler, but that would have been the only time. Bangkok to Phuket by car takes around 10 hours . You can also breakup the journey by spending the night somewhere on route.

I have done this stretch by rental car from Cha Am, so yes, near Hua Hin. It took the entire day, just with some toilet/ food/ coffee stops. It is not a nice ride. Certainly not after the junction at Chumphon. And take into account: go & return! It. I paid the fee to leave the car in Phuket. And we flew back to BKK. So if you would do this with touristic stops - as suggested - it will take 4 days.

Most airlines want Australians to fly with them. Qantas just expects them to fly with them. I was a long term Qantas gold frequent flyer who flew only business class with them both on domestic and international flights. Not great. The most expensive flights. Awful partner airlines. Overcrowded lounges. Indifferent service. Constantly devaluing their frequent flyer program. I flew into Singapore in October 2011 to find chaos. QF management had shut down the airline to punish workers for asking for better working conditions and pay. Passengers were also punished with no help at all. I was stranded there for a week. All means of communication with the airline were shut down. Fortunately their competition offered a status match. I've been a very happy traveler with them and their wonderful partner airlines ever since. Just don't throw money at companies that don't deserve it.

Flew BC Qantas Singapore to Perth in March. Slop they served for dinner was a disgrace at over $2000 one way. Not to mention it took 3hrs to dinner service. Having just got off Emirates BC from Munich via Dubai a few hours earlier Qantas could certainly learn heaps from Emirates. But i suppose its still better than the 737's Qantas insist on flying coast to coast. One BC flight didnt even have tablets for entertainment.Shame as i use to love flying Qantas. Even after they left us stranded in Japan as covid hit and had to fork out for new flights and find our on way home.

That first "meal service" seems like a joke... If Qantas claim to be a full service carrier, yet they offer that, and then quite a small breakfast meal... then there's something wrong with them. Other full service airlines such as Singapore, Emirates, Qatar etc... serve full portion meals, triple to what Qantas offers. Qantas definitely do not live up to their slogan as you said. Anymore, at least.
