It's also a film that I would never watch twice. I saw it when it was posted here on YT and by the end you're emotionally exhausted and depressed as hell. I always thought The Machinist was the most dreary and hopeless movie until I saw this one.

when i saw this movie, i was a mixture of marion and sara (yes, i didn't even have money for speed) i loved it, harry's ending touched me very hard, but it didn't make me feel worse about myself, because EVERYONE has this "i will never be like this, it has only positive effects on my life, it's like my best friend" thoughts in the back of his mind

I know about Javier Bardem not wanting to play the violent character and what terrified me the most was that how he was calm and steady as a psychopath for the character Anton Chigurh. And the terrifying scene I saw was the part where he was in the house Carla Jean was staying at and him saying Llewelyn had the opportunity to save her but instead he used her to save himself

I was forced to write a book report on this book and present on it in I said it was "more boring then the bible" and landed myself a 7 day suspension. The part about him being in the cave drinking water just killed the book for me it was such a struggle.

there's a fascinating theory about Anton Chigurh, suggesting that he's not actually a real person but rather an embodiment of an idea. This interpretation can completely change how we view the story. Imagine Chigurh as a representation of fate, chaos, or death itself. Throughout the novel and the film, his actions and presence often feel more like an unstoppable force of nature rather than those of a regular human being. For instance, Chigurh appears suddenly and unpredictably, almost as if he's an inevitable force, like death or fate, coming for the characters no matter what they do. Unlike the other characters, we don't know much about his background or personal history. This lack of detail makes him seem less like a person with a past and more like a symbol or idea. His near-indestructible nature also supports this theory. Chigurh survives injuries that would stop most people in their tracks, continuing his relentless pursuit as if nothing can deter him. This suggests he might symbolize the inescapable nature of fate or death, which no one can avoid. Furthermore, Chigurh's philosophical dialogues often delve into themes of fate, choice, and morality. These conversations hint that he operates on a different plane than the other characters, reinforcing the idea that he's more of a conceptual force than a regular antagonist. Look at his interactions, especially the coin toss scenes. In these moments, Chigurh lets chance decide his victims' fates, emphasizing the role of randomness and destiny. This method of decision-making highlights his function as an arbiter of fate rather than just a typical villain. So in reality maybe he isn't even there.

I am a social worker, as sad as it seems, this movie is scary because it is reality. We often forget that people try to get their life under control with drugs and alcohol. Most times we don't just lose control because we want to, it is an effect of a greater problem and drugs/alcohol seem like a way to handle the pain of it, until it takes the pain and control away. People often judge with "they choose to take drugs" yes some of the addicts do but most are a victim of the circumstances as weird as it sounds. Most people who caresly judge over drug addicts are the people with enough privilege to never have met anybody who is struggeling and it cannot be covert with money (sorry about my english, it is not my main language)

The movie was good and I enjoyed it, however there were many dumb decisions (tbh like any other horror movie) moments where you scream at the screen as to why they didn’t do something. The main bit that annoyed me was when everyone was still alive (except that one girl) and they have the killer with them. They say “one person at a time through the tunnel” now lets recall only evan, harper and the other girl had been through this tunnel. They send evan first (fine) but then why not send harper next as she knows the way and let evan remain at the other side (it doesn’t take longer then 1-2 minutes to go through the tunnel realistically. THEN they send the villain so evan and harper can stay with him to make sure nothing sketchy happens, (then the rest can come through). Granted another villain can kill some of the girls on the other side but it still keeps more of the group alive and guarantees less kills happening

Is the issue with horror movies you go out you see a guy in a devil mask then you get an invite to haunted house at that point is when you go when you see the guy on the devil mask in here a lady scream now that's suspicious enough my probably turn back then but I probably wouldn't go outside in the first place either way because I'm I don't like going outside as it is let alone watching this movie but basically you see a guy in a devil mask who looks at you creepy that's when you turn back especially when you hear the lady scream
