The 'shot traps' on the Challenger are minimal, compared to other MBTs. It saved a Ukrainian crew from a direct hit from a Russian 122mm artillery shell. I don't understand why some MBTs have the bottom part of the tuurret angled downward toward the glacius plate. Like it's not going to slightly deflect toward thinner armour?

I'm not sure theirs a straight forward answer, it will depend on cost to fit cats and traps on Prince of Wales and Queen Elizabeth carrier against cost of one carrier with cats and traps which would add to our fleet.

Ground forces generally need some sort of a defense against aircraft, but this design is half obsolete even before first deployment. It does not take a genus to see a lot of the tank destroying in Ukraine are by cheap drones, costing like $500. that is way less than a missile or even maybe 20 rounds of 40 mm shells. Plus drone often come in swarms, so your air defense will be out of ammo before the action end and your nice Boxer become a target. What Ukraine demonstrated needs are specialized anti drone vehicles. A vehicle made for detecting/jamming /destroying drones. The radar will be much more sensitive, and the jamming equipment can be changed easily due to changing technology. The guns will be small , like 556 mm or even 22 LR rotary guns, radar guided, which will have a lot higher ammo capacity. Missiles and 40 mm is like trying to swat a fly with a sledge hammer. In future, laser and other beam weapons will be use, but we are not there yet. So now, we are still restricted to the high tech equivalent of a caveman chucking rocks at the target.

Geez, who writes this dribble……. There is NO new MBT in the US Defense Budget….. what boobs, the DoD is in fact given up on the SEP4 upgrade of the M1A2, while FINALLY, after nearly 4 years of delays and the Russian/Ukrainian war is mounting the Israel Trophy on 2 US Army Regiments to give the M1A2 a fighting chance on the battlefield. Took the US Army 6 years to read the paper before decided to get off the pot….. yes, there is money for research and General Dynamics, using its OWN money, have built a single test vehicle to show off to the Army…. Maybe, in another 10 years we might be seeing “something” new….

deffintily not unless uk decide to double its defense spending tmr money would better spent on upgrading the type 45 and more type 26 and a fully loaded airwing preferably 36 f35b 4 v22 aew ospray and 4 v22 trasport/tanker and 8 asm helicopter and 2 general purpose helicopter 4 naval fixed wing endurance combat drone on each of the carrier that would make each carrier a force to be rekon with it will have the ability to do asm and drone strike mission logistic/humanatarian deep strike with fixed wing 5gen stealth fighter with tanker and fixed wing aew support.

Their basically buying the technology as well. They'll also be using the same missile for air defence on their new frigates, based on the type 31 design. So it makes sense to be able to build them.

Let me get some facts for you: Your IDF fanclub talks big, However if this is all you can muster. It will not work, 360 degrees on VR? A simple flashbang can blind the controller. A railgun system has ammo that can be electrically charged, making it both invisible for radar/satellite aswell as for the naked eye. Pretty sure you can say it is a MBT, however, it is steal extremely weak at its tracks. They went with firepower over mobility and defense. Another last thing, the entire sharing AI between tanks sounds amazing, but it is a massive weakness. Especially in the age of electronic warfare, so should one of thei tanks get infected with a vision blackout it will spread through the entire colony of the same type or even bust up their IFF aswell creating infighting amongst themselves. . Making this new tank not really something anyone should put complete trust in on the battlefield. Afterall lately many forgot the old ways, then started to depend more on technology advancements. Losing every day the lessons they were trained with. So if lets say in the future the technology becomes unusable and it is back to manual handling. Do not be surprised, they got no clue of to pull that off. Everyone can design and have a new tank built. Yet if it only sees in many countries service for 20 years. Then again it becomes either a museum piece or scrap for a new one. In the end a tank is still just a tank. The tech may be advanced, yet it still needs human control. Thus that said, making a big remote controlled tank however, then we are talking about a tank of the future. Not this Merkava Mk. 4 with additional extras and a bigger gun.

Time out, I love the Rafale but anyone that knows how those air to air trainings go would know the F22 is usually like in this case (fight against Rafale) put in the worst situation or position possible to make it more favorable to 4 Gen fighters. Meaning the F22 doesn't always get to fight like they normally would. People need to know the full situation.
