The KZread channel of Ed Laverack, elite cyclist, 2x British Champion, 10+ years in the sport, 6 of those racing across the world at UCI Continental level for one of the most successful British teams, Rapha Condor JLT. This channel started because I wanted to show what went in to the 'life' behind the racing and training. Trying to ‘break the barrier’ between the Pro and Club cyclist, with entertaining live streams, informative videos, casual chat and an awful lot of ridiculous performance orientated experimentation. Join me as I build up to my big cycling goals over the next year! On and off bike training, nutrition, race and travel adventures! If you are looking for something down to earth and different, this is it my friends!

That bus was the hand of God! Great ride, looked like a perfect day for Ventoux. I last rode it a few years back on my 60th birthday. Always almost a spiritual thing for me getting up that climb.
The mac'n'cheese was fantastic! Well done on your target time. I did the Gran Fondo as well. Completed in a target time of 11 hours including stops (10:52 actual). We ended up faster on the road than planned but some extra/longer stops due to a puncture and wait for toilets. It was a great day though.
Quality Stuff Ed 🖖
Well Done 🖖
what program are you using
Super vidéo ! Merci pour tes explications (a big ty for subtitles !!) et le partage de tes données. Very, very good YT channel !
Not often we get to hear such a detailed view of what a rider is thinking and going through. Congrats on the win, this was amazing!
Done it twice, 1st in 2013 and the 2nd time in 2015. 2015 was by far the hardest in living memory as it was during a heat wave (if being hotter than normal is even possible), but the route was also different due to a landslide on the decent from the Lauteret. We did the Glandon, Lacet du Monverier, Molland, Croix de Fer and then the Alpe. About 700m more ascent than the regular and a touch more distance, but the key difference was that there was no long decent off the Lauteret to recover. The profile was like sharks teeth...just up and down constantly all day, making it extra punishing. I hope to go back in 2026 at the ripe age of 52 and try again...unfinished business as they say!
Interesting to see your experience. I crashed over a barrier on the Glandon, did the Telegraph ok. Had to stop due to altitude in the last 1km of Galibier. Got cooked between base of Galibier and Alpe. Stopped for 5mins on first bend of Alpe, and a few minutes on the next few bends before limping the rest of the climb to top. Marmotte is hard and I've done Fred Whitton since without issue.
Well done ed kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJiZtdWElKfPqcY.htmlsi=heIh-T6bNA_-rXFQ
0:07 “Buak tua” another video …..and spit on that thang😂
Hope you stay fit and well for what looks like a cracking weekend of cycling. Look forward to the coming videos. Go well Ed🚵🚴👍
Good Luck Ricky 😜👌
Agreed Ed, there are "harder" events but this route was excellent & the descent from Bwlch to Port Talbot was "free miles"...I loved it as did the other 14 from my club, I did get my strategy wrong, was flying up over Penderyn Moor & struggled over the Bwlch, but it was still a blast, great ride BTW! The feeds & marshalls were also top notch!
It is "lac Léman" and not "lake Geneva" :p
Good grief…. Proper climbs that. Well Done, must of been a bucket list experience!
Only the Pog machine does it from 80km, his got the full rights, best you check with the UCI mate….😂😂😂.
If you walk any gravel section, I expect to see you shouldering the bike and running cx style 😂 Good luck
🤞For a fast recovery. I’ll ride the TT and mediofondo, I live 60km from there -in Lausanne. If you ride in the area, there are some nice « col » to ride - i’m sure you did your searches. But there are also some where you do not want to ride because of the road being too busy and dangerous. Would be happy to meet you on the road any afternoon during the week. My favorite is « Sonchaux (7.7km 10%avg, all in the forest with super smooth road & amazing view on top » , awesome roads to ride are Corbeyrier, Taney, Torgon, Portes de culet. (About same profile: 62kg, 20’ 354)
Good luck Ed, give it your best shot and let’s have some rides worthy of big screen viewing 😉
The next weekend looks epic ! I hope you'll be in good shape for those events, and I wish you the best weather !
You've got this Ed #EdMode 🚀
Nice suit, needs a bit of green, byt!
Good luck dude and go hard 💪👍looking forward to all the KZread vids 👍
Another fantastic video Ed and I really appreciate your time and effort in putting it together ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐there's a lot of insight and inspiration too for us more ordinary riders that are looking for nuggets of information to help us improve. You won by quite a margin too. 👍👑
When did the reverse the route? This was the opposite way round to when I did it in 2017
I saw you in the pen and was going to shout over but i really didn’t want to be that guy 😂 That was my first time at the Gran Fondo as i have only been cycling just over a year now and yes it was fantastic, i paced myself, fuelled up all the way round and and managed just over 8.5hrs moving time. Fuel stations were well stocked and the descents were fantastic. The only crap on was the one with traffic lights on it!!!
Have you ridden and raced premier calender events like the Lincoln Grand Prix.
What a glowing endorsement for this fabulous event
The reroute almost got me too, Garmin was not happy. I just chilled and enjoyed the ride as I am not a strong rider . Spent to much time at feed stops so was 11hrs total but 10ish moving. Loved the ride and met some great people.
Chapeau was never again Ed. You may need a rest you say but you look fresh still. 👏
Did the media fondo this year in just 6hr. Sold to come back for the Gran Fondo next year with target sub 8hr.
With the bladder, are you using the Rule28 gravel suit with the integrated bladder holder?
Can wales win a rugby match do
Hi Ed!! Awesome video as usual 😜 Have you heard of the “Quebrantahuesos” sportive in spain? I noticed near start of video there was a lad with the top from 2018 edition sat on your wheel!! (Blue top, red specialized) 200km 3700m rides starts from Spain over Pyrenees into France and back into Spain defo think it would be a ride that would suit you!! Maybe worth a look for next year?😜🚀 (Normally is around end of June on a Saturday) All the best for next grand fondo UCI events coming up 😜 im sure you will smash it out the park as you do 😎💪🏼
Awesome stuff mate 💪😊👍 good job
You sold me on this event. I might well be flying six hours next year to participate and enjoy it myself!
Complted this year in 11:50 as a 49nyr old. Do not underestimate! the unbelievable scenery and a lifetime achievement! I'd recommend anyone to have a go. My biggest memory will be the amazing people of Wales, and incredible support and quality of roads! Just do this ride! its' incredible! What Ed does is outrageous!
Great breakdown and mammoth effort as always! My friend and I both watched this and I think you may have convinced us both to smash this next year 💪🏻
great to see local roads again - so enjoyable. that loop used to form part of my training for the WCA 12 hour. nice to see (the back of) Lewys Hobbs too - top bloke 🙂
Your numbers for these 2 events Ed are scary. Great effort and good luck with the up and coming double header.
What you take out in recovery, you give me in motivation. Llongyfarchiadau!
Speaking of dead end golf ball climbs have you done great dun fell?
IMO sa calobra is definitely overhyped. I dont rate it as the best climb on the island, it only just gets into my top 5 actually. Why its famous is because it is arguably one of the best descents in the world, it has a fairly unique dead end down aspect, and the 270⁰ loop. But as a climb, i think theres better. It would rise in my opinion if they could solve the traffic problem but thats a different discussion
Congratulations, amazing effort 🎉 Great video as well 😊
Great shots of the formentor road, looking forward to it when I'm back on the island in a couple of weeks, and this time of year the road is closed to cars so hoping it's a nicer experience.
Really inspiring video. Did I ride any of these climbs when I used to ride the 5 Valleys RR? Pretty sure we went up the Rhigos and Bwlch. It was always my favourite race.
Very beautiful countryside. A great challenge 😊
Awesome Ed 💪
Brilliant Ed, chapeau!
