A little about Ed….
Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider for one of the most successful British cycling teams in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and founded the on/offline cycling community, Backpedal. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed's viewers in to a 550+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!
Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email [laverackcoaching@yahoo.com] for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many and flexible options to suit everyone!
Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This KZread channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

Scored a very similar pair for road from a bargain bin for 10$... Almost ran out of the store, lol The tongue pressed abit painfully on top of the shoe before breaking in. Think I had to be mindful of this when tightening the single boa when new. Hope they work out great, mine is great now. Good luck in Mallorca

I have the road version, the RC3's. I've found them super comfy, I like the simplicity of the single boa dial. Nothing flashy, quite understated. Been using them for a year and a half and they still look pretty much new. I'd definitely recommend.

Have that same Shimano shoe that I got for even cheaper than that due to it being a return item in which I found no issues with why it was returned, I think you'll like the shoe. I was impressed at how durable it was for being the cheapest option there is. Haven't tested out its water wicking/drying properties but I would recommend getting a shoe dryer if that is the type of environment you are cycling in.

Don't think you can go wrong with shimano Ed always pretty durable in my experience and seems like it has a good sole too. 👍

I got those shoes for $80 off fb marketplace. They work but that BOA placement sucks. For me it sits right on my foot bone so i cant tighten them down fully without pain

I figured out a trick to get the boa to tighten more evenly. I'm not sure how to explain it tbh. I tighten it normally, then pop the boa back out again, then I feed the front of the boa wire back out from the front of the shoe and put my fingers between the wire and the front of shoe, then click boa back in and tighten again. It makes it tighter at the back of the foot without having to make it ridiculously tight at the front at the foot.

@@thecoffeeblog Probably depends on the specific style of dial what sort of colours they stock - my dad got his red ones replaced with red.

Ed, from one aspect I would have loved for you to have been given a great pair of shoes from a manufacturer, then you could have told us how wonderful and comfy they were and how we should all buy some; but on the othe hand, so many youtubers are now sponsored with everything, bike, kit, shoes etc which is great for them but are they still uninfluenced by this. How do we know? You of all people should have been given shoes, but I respect you more for buying them. Please think carefully when you are offered all the free stuff.

Hey Keith, thanks for the comment. I was talking to someone who was asking me what I was doing with myself now that I'm not on a racing team anymore. I started to explain that I feel like I'm bridging the gap between a racer/performance cyclist and an influencer. I did an interview not so long ago with Escape Collective and they called me a Performance Influencer. It's stuck since then. The way I see it is, it's no different to me racing on a team like I did back in the day. You get given "free stuff" to do your job, ride your bike, train, race, hit performance targets, win races and show off the people that support. My hope is that I don't come across as someone that is trying to push an agenda and buying from the brands that I use or being sponsored by because they rarely ever ask me to do that, they like the content and how I use the product naturally already, and essentially I have been in the sport long enough to know that I'm not going to wear a crap pair of shoes that I don't get on with but I'll use them just so I can take some money from a brand and influence you. These shoes are an example of that, but the brands I am supported by are well aware of how forcing something on the audience is not authentic and no longer works, hence why I work with them :) Long message lol, but an important one, thanks again for your comment!
