ex military and airline pilot here. I'm disturbed that you only want familiar approaches for your check ride. A good examiner will give you ALL unfamiliar approaches and procedures, to see how you handle it. He's there to see how you'd handle weather and malfunction-related diversions in adverse conditions. Learn your stuff cold and don't ever rely on getting conditions you expect.

The vapor tube is in a vortex caused by rotating airflow. It's like a little tornado spinning so fast that it makes a partial vacuum along the center, and the reduced pressure causes water vapor to condense out into a tubular cloud. The rotating air is caused by that metal strip sticking out from the engine nacelle. It is almost certainly there to control the airflow over the engine as the plane flies slowly with the nose pointing up a little.

@@MichaelHsu95 its Radar Warning Reciever, which is used in almost all modern millitary aircraft. This is the device that using display and beeping sounds tells a pilot that for example a missile was just launched and him, or he is being locked by other radar. Civilian planes dont have such device but i was just joking. I hope that i answered your question
