Hi Michael. Would you go over a special issuance medical for a medical for those who are new to the process? Some people, particularly veterans, might answer a question thinking that the form means one thing while it actually means something else. For example, the medical asks if you've been to a counselor. The VA calls the people who help veterans find jobs, an employment counselor. This could confuse the applicant. The FAA is not asking about that, and a simple misunderstanding might cause a 6-12 month delay from the FAA.

Hey! Thanks for watching. I’m sure you can get a lot of good information from the American flyers website, it might even be good idea to give them a call. I’m sure the internet is also another great resource. It’s hard for me to give any advice since I’ve never attend American flyers

Im a little concerned about when you say that students feel ill when they do steep turns etc. Currently im working on a boat, and when waves are 3-4 meters tall I begin to feel sick. I know I'm better now than I was when I first began working on a boat. My question is; isn't it like this for flying as well? The body adapts over time, no?

I have a question, I am planning on doing all of my written exams before starting flightschool. I just passed my Private and currently using sheppardair for IRA. I am thinking about doing CFI and commercial written exam after. Do I need to take ground school when I get to the flight school?

Former CFI and Current Regional FO here. It’s good to hear you’re motivated enough to consider knocking all of those out. However, you will need an instructors endorsement in order to be eligible to take each individual written. I’m assuming you used a kings school or equivalent for PPl that actually gives you a completion cert/endorsement. Sheppard air doesn’t give you an endorsement. And I can’t imagine any responsible CFI signing you off for those before you’re in that phase of training. Besides, you’re just starting training and there’s way too much you still need to learn. Writtens are just a box we have to check off. But that information is about 25% of what you ACTUALLY need to know to be a safe and competent pilot. If you have time to attempt studying all the writtens then I’m saying direct that well intended energy towards learning everything you possible can about your Aircraft(engine, systems, avionics, flight controls, and most importantly the POH), the FAR/AIM, weather, the PHAK and Airplane flying handbook, ATC….I could go on, but you see the point. You’ll never know everything, but as long as you’re trying to, then you’ll know you can’t try to focus on future ratings as that’s not going to benefit you at all. One rating at a time. That’s how you get where you want to go .

@@michaelheston2089 hello, thanks for your reply. I have used sporty’s and several other books to study for Private Pilot on my own and scored 93. I was told by my local flight school to use sheppard air for the remainder of the writtens. Sheppard air does give you endorsement once you score above 90 a few times on their practice exam. My question was what ground school at flight schools are for. Is it to prepare you for written? I wasn’t sure if I will be learning as I am flying or the ground instruction is needed regardless if I passed the exams or not. Idk how the flight schools operate and don’t want to be taken advantage of by doing something I don’t need you know?

I completely agree with everything @michaelheston2089 has said. Don’t get ahead of yourself by trying to knock out everything at once. Focus on one rating at a time. Ground school is to prepare you for the oral during your checkride. Be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already!

I think the FAA website has a place where you can type in your zip code and a list of places near you to get a medical
