Do these vintage Alembics balance well when playing seated without a strap? Too bad they have the pickup so close to the neck. But it didn't seem to bother Mark King...😀
@marcusbellbass1375Ай бұрын
His main Alembics were the Series 2 basses which always had the pickup selector with the rest of the electronics, also on this series 1 he had the pickup selector moved 👌🏼… It does balance well, being a 32” scale bass with most of the weight in the body, and the sound is to die for! I have a 1991 Series 2 Alembic in cocobolo that I’m desperately hoping to get some videos up of soon
@barendtrompАй бұрын
@@marcusbellbass1375 ok thanks. I just bought an Alembic Spoiler and I am hoping to get a series 1 or 2 one day. But the little lower horn worries me a bit as far as balance is concerned since I play seated at home. It might slide away from your leg easily because of the small horn? I am used to Wal basses, but love Alembic too. Also the small space between neck pickup and neck worries me a bit for slapping with three or four fingers as I do a lot (Mark King never used three finger slapping as far as I know). On the Spoiler that is possible but a lot Alembics have even less space there.
