    Thanks for watching Anthony! Ebay or other type sights are your best bet, maybe local toy shops but they may be expensive or you can do the leg work and hit flea markets and garage sales in your area, time consuming and often frustrating but I know a guy in our group just hit a couple big boxes last summer near Chicago where he lives. The thrill of the hunt. I am thinking of selling some of my infantry figures as my collection has gotten very large and due to a work injury I am out of work. I grew up until age 11 in the UK, then we moved to the US in 1977. The UK Action Man collection was about 90% military, which I much preferred to the GI Joe stuff, which was largely action/ adventure. I was told that the GI Joes were adventure oriented, and not military, due to the Vietnam War that ended a few years before, which left little appetite in the public for war themes. Not sure if that is true? I was fortunate to have played with both Action Man and GI Joes, so, no complaints. I still run across bits and pieces of their equipment.

  • @eliteactionjoestudios8325
    @eliteactionjoestudios83252 ай бұрын

    That is my understanding as well. I believe both companies did amazing things and I love both. I feel that Palitoy out did Hasbro overall with the longevity of the Action Man as well as the diversity and uniqueness of the sets. I only have a few Action Man figures in my collection but wish I had more but they are so hard to find and expensive when I do find them. I appreciate your comment and think you were lucky to have had the chance to play with bot at a young age. Do you collect now? Do you have any of the toys from your childhood?

    Thanks for sharing. I suspect setting up an entire squad according to the WW2 TO&E is boring--it's hard to get the equipment and uniforms to match. An alternative is figures showcasing the many varieties of uniforms and equipment found in one American division. British Army units had variations on uniforms. It was possible to have STEN Mk II and MK III in the same unit. I'm impressed with the quantity and variety you displayed. How would a replacement depot (Reppel Depot) unit look? Normally, one or two replacements would be fed to understrength platoons at a time. Replacements didn't fare well--they were not integrated into already shattered units and were shunned by the surviving unit veterans so that when the new guy died it wasn't a big deal. Replacements might have the new uniforms (buckle boots instead of field shoes with leggings, dark green uniforms instead of light brown, different packs) and wearing the wrong clothes in a combat zone was a quick way to get shot. Some units wore shirts and ties and some were open collar combat fatigues. One American engineering unit had camouflage uniforms--and they discarded those quickly to avoid being shot, mistaken for German SS soldiers.

    Very impressive collection ,I like to do something like this but with the 65 infantry,the Borinqueniers, I hear stories from my older relatives about our family members that served in WW2 and Korea, they started around 1917 when the US gave us Puerto Ricans the official US citizenship, so they served ,WW1, WW2, and Korea, I found replicas of the insignias, now I have to scale them to 1/6 size, I like to do s diorama, in the 90s I was hoping that Hasbro would make a figure of the 65 infantry, since they made so many other, the Navajo decoder, 2 diferent Tuskegee pilots, The D day soldier 🪖 and so on but they never made one from the 65 infantry, do I'm eventually going to do it myself maybe with some Cotswold figures and uniforms, I volunteered for a few years a hospital helping the nurses take care of veterans I was 18 till I was 20, veterans from WW 1 to Vietnam, most were from the 65, and brother I heard stories, these elders had things to say , by Vietnam they had disbanded the 65, as more men learned English they were interested in other units but we learn in school to appreciate and respect our service men and women, a lot of my relatives served in all the branches of the military I didn't have that honor I suffered severe migraines since I was a kid, my son was about to go to the Navy but he had a little problem with his heart , he used to be a power lifter and do strongman competitions and at the time his bodyweight was 420 lbs he trimmed down to 350lbs but still his heart was giving him problems, hes now 275lbs but by the time he reached that weight the pandemic hit and the sergeant from the recruiting office stop answering the phone or calling him so he didn't go, he's healthy now and still lifts weights and got back in martial arts but his dream was to be in the Navy , he just turned 27 in April 7th, oh and when he was 420lbs he wasn't obese he's 6'4" the weight was well distributed all over his body, at the recruiting office they told him shit we were expecting a fat sumo wrestler like guy but your built like a line backer,at the time he was also playing football 🏈, they're reaction when they saw him was priceless, hey this is a great video, and rhus is a very impressive collection, thank you and thank you for your service! Blessings to you and your family.

    I sold my childhood collection about 15 years ago to make room for my ever growing die cast collection(around 7800 at present),a good quantity of it had never been opened and it created quite a stir at the Bromley toy auction. Those are known as Action man over here and I was gobsmacked at how rapidly it all sold,some in bundles,some single items. Some of the buyers were lunatics,one guy drove from Stirling, Scotland to SE England,in his own words "just to get them quicker,rather than bid online and wait for postage"😮.some of the biddng wars were ludicrous,after the first few lots went through quickly and most if it way beyond my expectations, and on the strength of what the auctioneer then said to me in an interval, which was "These people are mad but serious,you've rung the bell today"I wandered off to buy quite a bit more die cast than I originally intended.some people seemingly more than happy to pay way over the asking price for stuff,certain items creating a fervour in some of the bidders a few of whom were quite aggressive to others, the astronaut stuff nearly started a fight,I was as happy as a dog with 2 d**ks,thinking I'd spent more than I promised my wife I would, but she'd never know because my sale had done so well I thought I could hide what I had spent in what I had made. That was right up until I got home and discovered she had seen the confirmation of sale emails popping up on my laptop every couple of minutes and knew the whole story😂.

    It was years back, my own nephew, it was (GI Joe, 21st, Cotswold, etc. oh complete Monty Python Holy Grail 1/6 set) as well as complete runs of first issue runs of Marvel Legends, Marvel famous covers almost complete set (9 inch figs), star wars, turtles, etc. etc. about 10-15,000 dollars worth. I was never able to replace most of it and stopped collecting all but 12 inch my dreams of a toy store ripped away. I appreciate the thought but just had to put it behind me and realize I could never rebuild it. I try to focus on the now and hopefully replicate that epic zip line! Hahah, that was awesome!

    I love the Tom from SpiderMonkeyFilms head sculpt! You have an awesome collection Pat. I have all, literally ALL of the 21st German figs and most if not all of the vehicles (including the PAC75 gun. I have a few Dragon but the equpment is very delicate…very detailed…very delicate. Thanks for sharing! 😎👍

    I am a history guy and these really got me fired up and eventually restarted my Adventure team passion, Tom said above the Dragon figs were awesome but can be a bit delicate.
