I went to school with both Evan and Mitch. I lived not far from Evan at one point and sat with him on bus. I can remember him telling me stories of him living out in the mountains behind his house for days or weeks at a time. I would say Evan was probably one of the smartest people I ever knew. I don’t know Mitch all that well but I can say from the conversations I had with him throughout high school and stories he would tell (nothing wildernesses related) they definitely seemed fabricated or highly exaggerated. I’m nothing more than an average camper so I can’t really speak for anything wilderness survival related, but based on some other comments here it wouldn’t surprise me if parts of the story have been made up. Throughout the podcast, I was extremely surprised at Mitch’s demeanour towards the entire experience; it comes across as arrogant and “I’m better than you”. I wouldn’t survive out there, so regardless of the circumstances, he survived and made it out which is an amazing feat of its own. It was sad to hear that Evan did not make it out and I’d imagine friends and family miss him dearly.

Just wondering if once you’ve removed all of the oil using brake clean if it’s necessary to use G96 or any other product? Can you just leave it dry? Also what’s a substitute for brake clean? Great video. Thanks

I am from Faro originally, have travelled the landscape Mitch is referring too, and have spent time sleeping outdoors in - 35 weather. I have to say, there is so much about his story that is absolutely ridiculous. Talk about purposely putting yourself in danger for a good story. Anyone who has truly spent time in the actual wilderness understands how intense the area around Faro is, and to suggest you will just go out there, in the winter, with a sleeping bag that is that far under a minus 40, with not enough food, rushed and forgetting items, not checking if you and your partner brought everything you need, bringing Columbia gear as your winter clothing, my mind is blown. This mans survival is nothing but pure luck. Luck that he stumbled upon a cabin (a cabin that local folks know about and if he had done any research about the area he would of known about as well). Folks, don't let this become a story about how Mitch survived the elements. That is not what this is. This is a story about ego, being unprepared, and purposely putting yourself in harms way because you wanted a survival experience. Even worse, being in a situation where someone loses their life, then going on a podcast and talking about it so casually.

Just an fyi, as a woman it’s not really possible to “use a bit of strength” and pull the pin out, but an Allen key put inside that little gap gives a good grip that I was able to handle easily to finish the job. I’m sure there’s plenty of guys who didn’t have an issue with this, but if it makes it easier why not do it?

Ok boomer, nobody under 40 uses a sock anymore lmao. Also when the moose walks in front of you and you missed your opportunity to bag it because you were removing your cum rag, I would’ve already shot the thing using tape since I don’t have to pull it off, the bullet does that for me 😂😂😂😂

I work for the outfit that operates just east of where this struggle for survival took place, his time at anvil creek is spent in the same concession that I work and live in for part of the year, I heard about Mitchell from one of Corlane's staff on my way North last July, it's incredible to hear his account regardless of your experience, but for me personally, I've walked and rode this land, crossed Anvil creek many times, and can visualize the landscape. North of Faro is brutal, and beautiful terrain in the easy months, 8 months out there in the cold would be more struggle than 99% of people alive today couldn't handle, thank you for telling your story Mitchell, good job making it out alive, and I'm sorry that Evan couldn't join you.

When we first planned this trip intention wasn't to create an epic film, it was to harvest hogs. We brought down one go-pro and an i-phone to film, to remember the trip. After the first day, we bought. a second go-pro and a mount for the helicopter, to get better footage. If the intention was to create a film, we would have paid a videographer to come along and sit beside us with a professional camera. That said, the next time we do this, we will have better equipment.
