  4 of the best voices for this music at the time (Warren died 8 years before) Corelli, Tucker, Merrill & MacNeil. I have heard no voices since that match these 4 in this opera anyway for power & sonority. In the last quarter of the 20th Century there are other baritones that I prefer for other reasons, primarily for smooth legato bel canto singing, stylistic mastery, & perhaps a more beautiful lyricism but for straight forward thrusting tone Merrill & MacNeil take the prize in operas like LA FORZA, anyway. Examples of the other breed include, IMO, baritones whose stellar reputations came a bit later like Bruson, especially, & Manuguerra as well. However it is hard to beat Merrill’s phenomenal FINALMENTE in the FORZA duet here & with Tucker. A guilty pleasure I must admit!

  Lui non c'è più e questo aumenta il rammarico.Ma la morte viene per tutti.Pero' come diceva Foscolo, alcuni forti sono sepolti in urne speciali.A noi è rimasta la sua titanica e bellissima voce che continuerà a farci inumidire gli occhi, specialmente a quelli che lo hanno amato anche da vivo....

  Corelli and Price are obviously tremendous here, but hey: Cesare Siepi's Silva is fantastic! I love Hines in that role too, but Siepi remains my favorite. Back then, when you needed talent to be on scene...

  Ayyy que me da el ictus, acabo de ver esto por el bronquitis aguda Kaufmann y no entiendo como seguimos yendo a la opera. Yo le respeto, porque you need to have fucking balls to go up an scenario and sing. That's something i do respect. But i do not respect, people that applauded him, without listening to....for example this.

  Y sigo....y que viva la madre que le parió. Y si esto, es old school...then, lets tray to sing the old fucking way, because the new school has nothing to do. So there is no old or new my friends, there is know how or not to know how and that it. You dont need to know about music or singing, you just need to listen. Era la puta ostia de bueno el Corelli.
