4 weeks did you say?
What is your question? The trip was 4 nights 4 days
@@AndyCarruthers62 I heard you say 4 somethings. I couldn’t believe you traversed all those valleys and mountains in 4 days. I must have miss-heard 🤣
Nice work Andy big effort.
Thanks 😊 it will take a bigger effort to get all the way round 😢
Thanks. A grand adventure
It was a grand adventure
Beautiful footage! What drone are you using here?
Thanks, its a Dji mini
Fantastic country in there! A well underrated park
I agree, there is a lot of wild county in there
Wow. That scenery ❤
It doesn't get better than that 😊
Way back in 1978 my self and my tramping buddy by the name of Randle Goldfinch. We tramped from where Longview hut is today.. to the comet hut . And managed to pick up a ride back to hastings. That walk along the tops took us 10 days. I'm now 67 perhaps take a little longer now. Graham Bailey. Cheers.
Wow what a fantastic trip. It's such an awesome ridgeline. We are heading up to Howletts hut tonight.
I love Mt Ruapehu so so much it's so pretty and i love skiing there. Hope you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed it 😊 thanks for watching 👀
Nice! I did the traverse as a day trip before the Turks were installed. This video’s inspired me to go back and explore at a more leisurely pace! Cheers!
Have fun!
How long did it take you in the end Andy? (I'm running the opposite direction on the shortest day coming up . . . planning for a lot of running in the dark!!)
It took us about 12.5 hours, it was a long day and lots of time in the dark. Have a great adventure :)
@@AndyCarruthers62 Cheers . . .yeah I was working on about 14hrs so thanks for that. And yip, being the shortest day I'm gearing up for only about 10hrs of daylight so having to take sets of spare batteries for the headlamp!
Awesome video and adventure!
Cheers, we should go for a trip sometime
Your fine video brings back memories of the tramp I did 30 years back to Boulder Lake and Adelaide Tarn . I've since uploaded a "Kahurangi " song to youtube which you may wish to hear . Cheers
Thanks Paul I will have a listen
Wow. Incredible! What a beautiful part of the country. Great video.
I was pleased I didn't have to carry my band gear like you did 😊
Fantastic video. I've been wanting to attempt it for a while, good to see a reality check though after I noticed on Strava that Alastair Mcdowell casually knock if off in 9hrs like it's some walk in the park 😂. Great mission, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Tom, Alastair @amcd061 is a very strong experienced mountaineer. I have to be more careful watching how easy he makes it look 😁
Wow💛💛💛💛💛💛🤍
WOW WOW WOW WOW
DON'T GO UP TO THE MOUNTAIN TOP WITHOUT ME(C)2006
Hey, it’s cool, you worked hard.
Hello. nice to meet you❤
Wow!! Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing.
So looking forward to this. I've tramped all of Tararuas and bagged all the huts, but the athleticism needed for an SK attempt was always beyond me. And certainly now. But hell I so much admire those who can.
Enjoy, as you know the route is fabulous 👌 and the history over 60 years is pretty interesting.
great lil' doco :) May have to give it a go i think
Enjoy, it's a cool adventure

Cool country 😎, have you visited the area?
Great video of and epic mission! Good work! Was going to suggest you enter this in the NZMFF then I see in your profile that at least one of your films got selected.
Thanks Tom, it was a cool mission 😎
This really takes me back. Great video & filming/editing.
Thank you, it is an amazing place
Nepal is the most beautiful country in the world -25 yo Norwegian who visited 4 months (sept-januray) in 2017 and 2 months in 2020 (march-may)
Freiwillig habe ich mir die Nase noch nie gepudert.......
Swt vid ta! Gr8 visuals and soundtrack...aces!🙃
Cheers Shane, have you been to Carkeek?
Was there 2 weeks ago , not an easy trek
It is a tough few days, hope you had a great adventure 😀
@@AndyCarruthers62 we didn’t summit as we had 120k’s wind , 2 of our party tried but turned back . River was a little high which made it interesting !!!!! Took us 8 hrs in and the same out . Great adventure 👍👍👍 no one else there so we had 2 to a hut !!!!!

gd job..
Thanks Dave 😊
👏👏👏
Thanks for watching 😊
Exceptional video! Very inspiring. What an adventure!
Thanks Hans, trying to put your teaching into practice
Looks amazing Andy! So proud of all of you.👊🏻👊🏻
Thanks so much!! Your balloon ride looked beautiful 😍
Did exactly this route 5 years ago, but in the opposite direction (skipping Fenella and continuing along the ridge). It's all about route finding - which in this case means make it up as you go along! Very exposed in places - quite scary (especially as we were descending those vertical scrambles you were going up). Wild country - a bit like the rest of everything else west odf the Main Divide.
Great listening to your interview on DCR during my afternoon run. Know what I'm watching this evening!
Great to have discovered your channel Andy. I reside in AK and am keen to explore areas you have posted content of your missions. I’m 58 and have parked surfing for now after a shoulder injury but have enjoyed surfing Indo early 80s Fiji, Hawaii, Oz. Hiking (mostly solo) is now my buzz.
Cheers, I'm a keen surfer and love being in the mountains. What is your next adventure?
@@AndyCarruthers62 waiting for the weather to do Tongariro Northern Circuit. I’m equipped for snow/ice travel, just need some clear skies to avoid white out or strong wind. Your Tararua/Ruahine videos show some good options. 👍
awesome vid, so the high route still doesn't get close to the ridge proper, I thought it would be closer than that. Whats the 3D stuff from is that an app you use for navigating? I live just down the road from the start of this track, really want to do it one day! thanks
Cheers, yep the high route is not on the ridge. I use an app call relive for the 3D stuff to show the route. It is magic country in there
All the bits a good doco needs : good story good pictures good sound. Amazing.
Cheers, stoked you enjoyed it 👍
Fantastic footage such an amazing place. Good efforts
Thanks Aaron, it is an amazing place. Have you had the opportunity to visit?
Great music and scenery.
Thanks Matt, I just released an adventure documentary about the Sk, details at TararuaSK.com
Nice work, Andy.
Cheers, stoked you enjoyed it 👍
Great video Andy, one of your best yet.
Thanks Dan 😊
Was that a blue duck at 0:58 ?
I think it was a paradise duck 😁
Hey man, I know this was a long time ago but can you remember how long it took you to climb mitre? Many thanks
It was a long time ago, I think it was about 4hours from the road end. We were traveling light doing a day trip.
That's a great effort! Loved the video.
Thanks Robin 😊
Brilliant video
Thanks Hans 😊
Hi Andy - thanks for uploading this. I don't suppose a second part of the video is available?
kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZqWhuMSPnNytorg.html Enjoy
Great footage Andy!
Cheers Tom
