The engine idling during the intro sounds like a early to mid 80's Mercedes Benz Diesel.

😅About the only detail left out was the unusually long lifespan of the 3rd gen Integra, which usually would be completely redesigned after 4 years, but instead got a very mild facelift & doubled that! & perhaps that the 1st was closely based upon the packaging of the original Accord 3dr, finally getting the performance engine upgrade most wanted... And that in Japan cheaper Integras were also available with basic Civic 1.5 & 1.6 carburetored engines.

Reason they were thought boring: so many other makes copied their slippery designs. Similar to GM except a lot in-house for it, multi-marques adopting its Seville-inspired upright roof.

You didn't mention the 350 diesel engine they offered in the car. I had the 1984 Delta 88 with the diesel. Drove it across the country from Chicago to Los Angeles and while crossing the high desert in the middle of the night, I was able to achieve 40 mpg.

The new one is ugly. Sagging rear, looks fat and bubbly with a long bulging hood. The 94 generation was best.

I live in a city and still see a reasonable amount of generations 1 through 4 Integras around the area, including heavily developed suburbs. Most of them are cars that have been tuned and have those "fart can" exhausts.

I have two friends who had owned several Acuras in the past and bought ILXs in 2014/15. Both had paint peel in under three years (one black, one blue) and suspension issues (one front, one rear). Their ILXs soured both of them on Acura and they moved on to Subaru and Toyota.

I think lift backs are appealing to us middle aged Gen Xers. I bought a 440i specifically for it, and is why I chose it over the 340i.
