Jay Woodworth

Jay Woodworth

I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. At 50, I started an Amazon FBA business. Fun, but neither career allowed time for healthy living.

Last year, I turned 60, overweight, out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with high cholesterol, and couldn't walk 20 minutes without resting.

In August 2023, I began the carnivore diet. I lost 65 pounds in 3 months.

Now, I can walk miles, have normal cholesterol and blood pressure, and am no longer pre-diabetic. I feel 30 years younger, and I'm passionate about sharing my story to help others.

Hi Jay, lovely video! I'm almost 6 months carnivor, and nothing in the world is better than feeling healthy! I never want to experience any of what I was living thru again! It seems like I was granted a wish to be pain free ...and I love it so much!! Videos like yours help so much. I keep saying I am going to start a channel, but I am sooo introverted and shy. I have spurts and outbursts of energy, but then it's gone & done, until the next one. Some people can turn it on & off but I can't. Your calm, soothing , rational video is just right! ❤❤ Thank you for sharing. You did great by ordering the steak. I would have too. I have 1/3 box of chickpea pasta in the cabinet... it has been calling to me all week! 😂I just eat some butter, tell myself no and walk away. Then I think I should have a slice of cheese... again a firm no and walk away.😢Stupid cravings! I just want some pasta!😂But I won't give in!! Grrrr

You touched all the bases, the first 3 months of carnivore I was losing weight great for me but I was also trying to get my digestion straight. My wife and I do not deny our real lives which is being in social eating situations but we limit it to 2 times a month. Lucky for us we live in the middle of no where Wyoming so there are no restaurants, well there are but at least a 45 min drive away which keeps us from going out so we only cheat if we have people over or a church function. I get it if you need to stay away from cheats but I love the contrast of feeling great when we hit a good run of carnivore for a few weeks to a month then have a carb meal and do not suffer the symptoms of a habitual SAD diet. My body knows what good for it and I have no urge any more to start eating carbs I like the process of driving myself back into ketosis with strict carnivore. I chucked when you said you don’t like rules, I left Connecticut and eventually settling in Wyoming 4 years ago for just that reason!

I think you have a good outlook. I’m still at the weight loss stage, but once I hit the goal I will experiment with relaxing things a bit. I grew up in suburban CT and hated it when I was a kid, and only came back for a couple years to help out my parents. It doesn’t bother me so much now that I’m older, but that cautious insurance company mindset certainly does pervade everything here🤔

It's not a restriction Jay, it's defeating drug additions, drugs like sugar and carbs that deceive the brain into thinking one is being somehow inhibited by eliminating these so called "foods", don't forget it was these very things that destroyed our health before discovering Carnivore. . The language you are using can be deceptive to one's own self. Trust me I know. Day 401 Carnivore here. Day 647 smoking quit. Day 684 drinking quit. 93-pound weight loss and that is in the last year with a Hashimoto's autoimmune diagnosis to boot.. I've been meat based for about 18 months now which I've benefited from greatly. I didn't need to lose weight, which I have....it's hard for me to keep weight on.... but I feel really good most of the time. I'm 28 and can really enjoy outdoor activities again without major aches and pains and I can chase after my little kiddos all day long. I believe 100% that the carnivore diet is just amazing.... however I've noticed a trend over the last few weeks where carnivores are now eating nothing but sardines, nothing but eggs, nothing but expensive steaks....and saying that what they're now eating is the only way. I'm all for folks doing what makes them happy but it seems to me that their super, over the top restrictions are at cross purposes with the carnivore diet and what it started out to be. Am I wrong? I could be wrong. I would love to hear what others in the carnivore community think. ❤

Jay, I’m sorry you’ve been struggling lately, but I really appr3ciate the honesty of this video. It’s helpful to others of us who are also struggling at times to know we’re not the only imperfect carnivores. 🙂 I’m cutting way back on dairy, too, though I still have a little. I sometimes have half & half in my coffee, but often just black. And a little Parmesan cheese doesn’t seem to bother me, but most cheese is simply a trigger food for me. I tend to overeat it. Recently, I made the “viral carnivore flatbread”. If you haven’t seen it, it’s simply two ingredients: eggs and cottage cheese. You bake the thin batter on a pan in the oven, and it makes a pretty tasty flat bread. I ate half of it, and soon afterward my stomach started to bloat and I my sinus passages became congested- plus weight gain. It was the cottage cheese. So I need to stay away from it. It’s not worth it. One good thing: I made Mikaela Peterson’s crispy bits today, and that was the best carnivore snack/meal ever. I had a couple of leftover short ribs and shredded the meat & fat, cooked it in a pot until browned and crispy. Yum. Way better than flat bread. It’s hard to do carnivore and have a social life. I’m married, and my husband isn’t carnivore, so it’s even more difficult. I mess up a lot, but I’m learning, and I’m getting better at it, and certainly better than not doing it at all. My body lets me know pretty quickly now when a food isn’t right for me (dairy). I hope to get where you are in your journey. I think you’re doing amazing! And you have a great attitude. 👏 You’re inspiring others to improve their health, showing them how it can be done. I’ve only lost ten pounds in a little over a month (closer to two? I don’t know), but my clothes are looser, so pounds on the scale aren’t the whole picture. Thanks again for posting videos like this! Sorry for the long ramble but just wanted to let you know. 😊
