A Carnivore in India: A Food Tour of my Indian Town

In this video I explore Tso Pema / Rewalsar, a small town in India where I have been staying for a month. As I walk around, I talk about some of the difficulties in maintaining the carnivore diet here.

☆ ABOUT ME ☆
I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. When I reached 50, I set out my own and created a business selling on Amazon using their FBA program. Great fun, but neither career left much time for healthy living.
I turned 60 last year (2023). I found myself 110 pounds overweight and seriously out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with sky-high cholesterol, and unable to walk for more than 20 minutes without resting.
I decided to make some major changes. I shut down my Amazon business and started living frugally. Health is more important than money, especially as we grow older. In August 2023 I started the carnivore diet and lost 65 pounds in 3 months.
I’m hooked! I can walk for miles without a rest now. My cholesterol is within normal levels as is my blood pressure. I am no longer pre-diabetic, and I feel 30 years younger!
After experiencing the benefits, I’ve become passionate about sharing my story to help others.

Hey Jay, I just subscribed to your channel. I live in Boise Idaho and I've been carnivore for 5 years. I've tried lots of programs for the diet and shopped everywhere. Did you ever end up buying the entire new York loin at Costco? So I buy the prime ribeye loin for about 15 dollars a pound there. It is amazing meat. Pretty easy to cut up on your own with a big cutting board. Very tender. I bake the one pound steaks in the oven at 275 degrees for 45 minutes then sear each side in a pan for one minute. Unbelievable steak. The new York you looked at is an amazing price for a steak. But very lean unfortunately. And you'd have to bake that in the oven to get it tender. It would be a good lean steak but I go for the prime ribeye to make sure if I buy 15 pounds of meat it will have great marbling no matter what. We have a grocery store called Albertsons and they sell almost expired steaks like wagyu ribeye or prime ribeye for 12 to 15 dollars a pound. You have to shop early to see if you can grab some

And Jay if you buy the big loin there will be lots of waste from trimming steaks. What I do is save the fat trimmings to actually eat as little seared bites when I eat a lean steak like a sirloin or filet mignon. And I also make about 2 pounds of ground beef with a manual meat grinder. As I trim the steaks to make them look like they do at the store I make a pile of trimmings that becomes ground prime ribeye. That's an awesome burger.

At our Costco they sell the loin for the same price as the steaks, so not any benefit to buying the whole loin. That’s a good idea to save the fat, and use some with the leaner cuts of meat. Keep up the good work with carnivore!

If you ever come to Italy, and go to the south, there are places like that in Sicily, in Sardinia and Calabria. Just the same buildings 😂

I’ve never been to southern Italy, but I visited Greece back in the 1980s, and I was often reminded of Greece when I was in India.
