Best Carnivore Diet Snacks at Costco

I almost never snack on the carnivore diet, but this weekend I have friends visiting, and I want to have some carnivore snacks on hand in case I get tempted to eat outside of my normal 9-3 hours. I go to Costco and find out just how hard it is to buy healthy carnivore snacks.

I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. At 50, I started an Amazon FBA business. Fun, but neither career allowed time for healthy living.
Last year, I turned 60, overweight, out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with high cholesterol, and couldn't walk 20 minutes without resting.
In August 2023, I began the carnivore diet. I lost 65 pounds in 3 months.
Now, I can walk for miles without a rest. My cholesterol and blood pressure are at healthy levels, and I am no longer pre-diabetic. I feel 30 years younger, and I'm passionate about sharing my story to help others.

Don't get all caught up in being a carnivore purists, if seasoning don't give you any type of reaction then go for it. The important thing is eliminating seed oils, refined carbohydrates, sugar, processed foods, etc.

My carnivore snack is made out of COSTCO thinly sliced steak... I dry it in my oven for 5 hours at 170°.... I season it to my taste... salt pepper...or chili powder w/salt.... or plain. Best snack for a carnivore 🎉❤ and easy to make... i refrigerate in a container... i grab one or two strips for a quick snack... sometimes crispy... sometimes chewy.. very satisfying. Enjoy your company 🎉

Just a note that the carnitas meat contained maltodextrin, a type of sugar. It spikes blood sugar and has a really high glycemic index, so you might want to avoid it like the plague.

@@catea2551 Maltodextrin has a higer GI then sugar. So actually sugar is better as it will raise your blood sugar slower. But if you are trying to eat carnivore then you absolutely want to avoid any ingredients that are going to spike your blood sugar. That is counterproductive. So yes, there may only be a little, but it can make a huge difference.

And, the presence of maltodextrin in a prepared product is a bit weird by itself. Maltodextrin has no flavor - sweet or otherwise. Its only function is to provide water soluble bulk to ingredients that are only used in trace amounts (like the sucralose in your Splenda - the amount of actual sucralose is so tiny that you'd never get it out of the packet unless it was blended with something like maltodextrin first). Not sure what function it would serve in a prepared product that is made in industrial quantities.

That sounds good ☝️. We make what I call the bits_* at home. I start with beef fat trimmings I get off fatty meat I buy, & a butcher sells me good quality fat off of average quality T-bones & Ribeyes he curls up from whole cryovac slabs. So I do a light 45 min freeze on the beef fat, (waxy type of fat is my 1st choice). This freezing makes it much easier to cut up the fat into small cubes & pcs about the size of a marble, using kitchen shears/ scissors ✂️ instead of a knife, as no cutting board or plate/knife is required. Then I put all the pcs into a crockpot on low (my low setting is about 165°F when I tested all ranges with water 1 day). Takes between 11 & 12 hrs, stirring occasionally to render down the other goal of making my own beef tallow to cook with. Once the fat is rendered down to crispy lil bacon bit sizes of beef fat, I drain off & separate the fat from the tallow. I use a dollar store coffee ground strainer to keep the tallow clean & put it in a glass jar. My method does give the tallow a bit of beef flavor, or the fancy store bought tallow, but it's because I want the fat pcs crispy like bacon to use on & with other foods. I am gonna use ur idea & put the crispy pcs of fat on boiled eggs cut in half. We fish in our lake we had built, & fry all our fish in tallow & without any breading, as we are Carnivores. I've never had better tasting fish than the ones we cook in beef tallow. Since the butcher sells me my fat for $1.99 lb, it's certainly worth the electricity cost in my opinion, to run the crockpot 12 hrs to make over a pint of tallow, & the beefy 🥓 🥓 pcs. Thks Jay for another great video. You should by the uncured Grassfed hotdogs at Aldi's some time. Just remember to cook them all at once, since they are not cured & should go from freezer to an unthaw, to the pan. These make a good snack when cut up in oblique coin shapes about 1/4" thick & fried in tallow, or air fried. They have a small touch of sugar, as I recall, but it's very minimal. Aldi also has Grass Fed 80%/20% hamburger on sale, & that makes great meatballs you take from frozen, & I to the aur fryer for about ~18 min. Because they are frozen, they get a crispy char on outside by the time you instant read thermometer says they are 160° or more on inside. U can put the beef crispy's into the burger meat & a few eggs if you wish. Don't make them to big, though, or they get to mushy imo.

Snacks are a tough category. I like eggs so an egg snack would be deviled eggs using mayo and dill pickle relish. A second snack would be shrimp cocktail. Watch for sugar in the dipping sauce but sugar free ketchup would be a base with a little horseradish, hot sauce, pepper. Alternative sauce would be tartar sauce or remoulade sauce. Of course the old faithful pork rinds with something to dip them in like Rotel cheese dip, with or without crumbled cooked sausage, pimento cheese. Processed snacks are unhealthy and almost always have msg, nitrates, heavy salt, etc., all of which are bad for you.

Hi Jay, I really enjoy your videos and find your way of presenting your Carnivore lifestyle encouraging to me. Even though I have continued to give in to my own carb-cravings, I am still hopeful that I can get to 100% Carnivore and resolve the last of my health issues. I have had so very many health benefits from the 66 months I have been 95% Carnivore. If only I can just overcome that last 5% where I have fallen off the Carnivore train. You are one of my support group and I appreciate all your videos and showing how you accomplish your own way of implementing this way of living. If you lived close by, I would want you in my personal circle of friends as I do not have one single person around me who supports me in this effort to be 100% Carnivore. For snacks, this is what I do. I cook a kilo of thick-cut bacon on cookie sheets with parchment paper under, in my oven. The fat can be drained off easily for use later. Then I cut each strip in half with scissors. I pack 6 pieces or 3 full strips of the cooked bacon into little zip-loc snack bags and put them into the freezer. When I feel I really need a snack I can pull one of those out and they thaw out within minutes, already pre-cooked and ready to eat.

good to see another carnivore shopping vid! i had heard from the gurus that if spam is all you can afford it's fine. well i've been liking to make spam chips. cut thin and bake until crunchy. today i looked on the can. its 12 carbs for the can 🤯 didn't notice that before. read the labels!! so this was a good to see you looking for snack items. the celery salt and sugars help preserve meat. if you just had meat and salt in a package it wouldn't last as long unless it was properly dried which i don't think those products are. also it would be drier than most would like. most consumers like tasty food and don't buy for health. you don't touch much on electrolytes. maybe do a video on that? as your channel grows, i'm sure LMNT will be sponsoring you🙄 i complain but just bought some to see if i feel better although i have good salt, magnesium and potassium to make my own. it arrives tomorrow. looking forward to trying it. thanks for inspiring!

Hard boiled eggs, some fried up pork belly and/or beef chunks, homemade jerky. Dang near impossible to find a true carnivore pre-packaged snack. Celery is full of nitrates and nitrites and cures meat like the chemicals alone, it's just a marketing gimmick 😂

Jerky is also a good option for snacks. Unfortunately, most jerky is "flavored' with anything but carnivore ingredients. You can make your own with just salt and a dehydrator. You only need the cheap cuts like a bottom round for the meat.

If they ask , why aren’t you eating I simply say I’ve already ate mine . They say it like an Alcoholic or Drug addict substituting one thing for another. You don’t have to apologize for your not wanting to eat. If you want to break the rule then I’d go with some xtra dark sugar free chocolate!😁😂😂😂
