My whole family of 20 is moving to Greenville we plan to bring more
This lifelong proud New Englander wouldn't move south for many different reasons! Primarily because of the heat and humidity and more horrific hurricanes! We get tail ends of hurricanes and the last big one was Hurricane Bob in 1991, over 30 years ago. But remember, there's no such thing as Utopia, a perfect place to live! All states, cities and towns have their problems, some more than others. Seems like there are more problems today than ever before! "Home is where the heart is', so follow your heart as well as your brain! Lots of videos on KZread on why you shouldn't move to S.C.! Good luck and best wishes to all~
What are the best areas and neighborhoods to live?
All true. Thank you for this video. I’ve been here since 2009. I host an open mic downtown at Coupe’s Corner on Wednesdays at 7pm. Please stop by sometime and say hello.

Born in Greenville but now live in Charleson here! A couple honorable mentions you should include: The Old Sheldon Parrish ruins outside of Beaufort. The Annual Christmas James Island County Park Festival of Lights. Football game at either Clemson or U of SC!
Based on 6% interest rate with 5% down: If I buy a home for $285000, am I only paying $15900 extra for the house after 30 years.... A total of $302010 Or is it practically paying double for the house ($751230) after 30 years... Thank You
More like double! A 30 year loan adds a lot of interest over time! You can really shorten your loan time and interest if you can make an extra payment each year. Some people choose to do this by paying every 4 weeks, and not every month, but there are lots of ways to go about it.
@HomesoftheUpstate Thank You for your response. Please mind, I am new to all of this. What would be the benefit of getting into a mortgage then? Besides gaining equity, even though the banks make way more off of you, then you gaining that equity? Would it not be better to rent, and save that extra money for 30 years instead?
The interesting part about real estate is that you’re self employed. This is informative. It’s data backed. I live outside the city and properties are flying off the shelf. Yes, he’d love to help a viewer to buy or sell a home. It’s how he makes a living. I’d like to help said buyer with a mortgage. At the end of the day, true real estate professionals focus on advising and educating, and informing prospective buyers and sellers. People come to us for information and guidance. It’s not buying a car or a t shirt at target. It’s a big decision. KZread and other social platforms are great sources for local information.
Ah yes, the usual "it's a great time to buy" shtick by someone whose job security is based on people buying no matter what. Love your videos but this guest you had didn't offer any valuable insights IMO and just sounded like a salesman.
They are all salesmen. That is there job to sell. It's not a service anymore. Most of us do the leg work and find our own homes...being it online or word of mouth, or even just driving through a neighborhood. All this hype about home prices rising is giving everyone the false hope that their home values will go up 5% every year. These jumps in home price values YOY are really being inflated by the million dollar homes being sold or traded. It's all artificial that will eventually catch up. This video won't age well as they avoid what real data is saying about the housing market. There is no shortage of home inventory, look at the numbers. They continue to say low inventory because all they look at is existing homes, when reality is that existing homes are locked by the buyers and their low mortgage rates. New inventory and new neighborhoods are plenty. These people have been hitting the Kool aid hard. Look at Florida, Texas, Tennessee, California. It will all catch up in time. RIP.
South Carolina has some of the worst maintained roads in the country!
Schedule 3 coming
Thanks for all the help you gave us this week, David. Unfortunately, Greenville just doesn't do it for us. Moving on.
It was my pleasure! Thank you for your kind words!
@phaedrus2633 thank God
What are some good areas around greenville that arent secluded? We arent looking for a hoa home. Price range would be around 400 to 500 k. If you could recommend some neighborhoods i would rrally appreciate it.
3:06 Brother, you're not lying about the roads 85 has been under construction for I don't know how many years from spartanburg to gaffney Yes, number 9 in bowling Springs is horrible Man our roads are awful not to count the fact that half of our bridges are not passing inspection now
Me duele mi pancita porque comí mucho 😞
Thanks for being honest about Greenville.
My 4th Great Grandfather came to what is now Spartanburg S.C. from Larne,Northern Ireland in October of 1772 with a Kings grant for 250 acres on the Tyger Rivers. I'm 7th generation and still live on part of the original land grant. My family has been here longer than the United States has existed and i love South Carolina!!
Wow! That is so cool! What a history!
The fact that Bob Jones University in this city & its poisonous influence on the people & culture is why I would NEVER move anywhere near Greenville, SC.
Correction my friend. Bob Jones university is in Greenville SC not Greenville NC
@@61Aliceinwonderland This is about Greenville SC. Who said anything about NC?
I went to Greenville HS in the early sixties as an AF brat. Judging by a lot of these comments, it appears that Greenville hasn't changed much. Classmates hated me because I was a "Yankee." My dad retired from the AF to leave the place. Instead of Southern Hospitality it should be named Southern Hostility. I've grown to despise my wretched State and thought of other places to finish my life out, I guess I wouldn't be welcome in Greenville. I'll follow the advice given here, I'll just pass on it. It's a shame, we probably could have become friends. Ironically, many are fleeing to Red States, because we no longer have a voice. Oh well.
How many acres do you need to park a camper to live in?
Looking to do Chickens and honey bees as well
You could do a camper in a 1/4 acre if its allowed by zoning/restrictions.
Awesoms! Chickens are great! My oldest is raising bees in college!
How is the healthcare? I hear it's not very good, no tertiary hospital s, especially if you have a complicated issues. How is the Bluffton area, as opposed to Charleston, or even Murrells Inlet?
Greenville is the best city in South Carolina
Great video, David!
I love your blunt honesty! Thank you and Blessings to All!
I moved to Greenville on 12/31/1987. Public transportation has improved somewhat, by not by much.
South Carolina has a hand in the cartel . You not about to make people believe that all these Mexican business been here for over 10 years . These businesses are new , since the boarder opening south Carolina has flooded with cartels and drug
85 near Pelham rd will unalive stupid drivers. Just saying.
I moved to Greenville from Virginia back in 1988 at just 20 years old..I lived there until .2018 then we moved downtown Charleston,SC..I basically grew up in the Upstate and I have nothing but happy memories from my time there..I will say that the Greenville I knew no longer exists but that's life..
All due respect to your Pro list but entertainment, cultural events and outdoor activities are extremely underwhelming for the Capital City. The Vista and Five Points should definitely be in the Cons list.
We quit going to Charleston because of the crowds. You can however go through the week on the off seasons and make sure there's no bridge race, Citadel graduation, etc. going on and you might be able to have a nice time without being crushed by all the people and traffic. Yes, Southerners tend to talk too much which leads to you guessed it GOSSIP. Here in Tennessee I have some neighbors that moved across from me from New York. They stay inside and mind their own business unlike my other neighbors who are always up in your business, tattling and gossiping. So, I do like the Northern mentality. Be quiet and mind your own business
Greenville has the prettiest downtown I've ever seen. I love the layout and the signage. Yes, too many people are moving to South Carolina and in the Southeast in general. Pay is low but if you move to New York City where the pay is great then you have triple the rent, etc.
Oh MY
Not trying to sound inhospitable, but there's way too many people here already. I don't know anyone who doesn't resent the sudden migration here. It's not personal, we are quite friendly in general, but the infrastructure simply can't keep up. The cost of land has doubled in the past 2 years and property taxes are steadily skyrocketing. My town of Lugoff used to be rural and full of people who know each other, now it's all shitty little generic pop up neighborhoods and a bunch of asshole drivers. I know I must sound like a cranky old man, but it's hard to get used to.
hey my name is Kenneth and I live in Michigan and I'm from Michigan and this state sucks because it's way too cold up here all the time and I want to move to south Carolina soon . nothing is going to keep me in Michigan.
Lemme know when I can help! 864 607 3537. 😃
Pro: This guy lives there!
🎉🤣
We are putting our house on the market here in fl in a few weeks and making the move to greenville. We have a budget of $270k and are looking for a townhome, surprisingly we have been seeing so much townhomes in that price range on zillow. We are In our late 30s, no kids, debt free, mortgage free which is why we want to keep it simple and looking to make cash offer only. Your thoughts on arden woods townhomes? Or hampton townes?
Hey, want to call and chat? 864 607 3537. I can give more feedback here in a bit too!
@@HomesoftheUpstate awesome, just shot you a text!
Do not come
Greenville is more affordable I see
I dont really understand why people move here. Born and raised. Hard to find a entry level job that pays a living wage. Home prices are outrageous. Infrastructure is terrible. Too many people and the area is not made for it. The more people who move here the more they actively make our lives worse in many ways. I guess if we weren't growing, we would be in decline. But not everyone is reaping benefits from growth.
It wasn't always like that because I can remember when you could get 2 jobs in one day..I noticed the decline after BMW came into the area that in my opinion was a huge mistake..
@@judyholiday1794 I've never gotten a job by applying anywhere here except ingles. Every single job I've had in my life was cause I knew someone. I've applied to tons of random companies in my life but nothing.
Crime is terrible in Greenville now. It was a nice place to live but now every day there is a story about a murder, shooting or someone being run over. Beware. Someone even got shot in their car in traffic last week!
I just bought a house in Easley, but I specifically looked for the outdated, never updated old home. I will NEVER live in a new construction knowing what I know about construction. Ill take an old house and make it my own. Plus I cant do the cookie cutter HOA karen neighborhoods.
Glad you found a good one!
Thank you for this video. The fewer people we have moving here the better!
Lived in 12 states. 20 some cities. Best place I’ve ever lived by miles. Is this dude even from here or California. Traffics high because so many people are moving here. I see New York and new jersey plates daily. Housing is getting high because so many people are moving here too. But as everyone else said, don’t move here.
NY and NJ are my least favorite.
Thank you. I needed this badly...hopefully we're there within 3-5 years
My pleasure! Hope we can help when the time comes. 😃
Thanks for this video , I love the countryside living!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Greenville doesn't need any more people in it.
Indeed has fewer job's for 2024. I moved here 3 week's ago its been a struggle getting hired. One has to know someone or a good staffing agent to help..
oh no! What type of job are you seaching for?
Cant believe lancaster County isnt listed. Rock hill (york county) is basically full and overflowing over into lancaster which is great for lancaster
Chesterfield co here! I'm on the side of the state everyone ignores lol.
aww!
Expensive though
True....compared to many in SC
