There are thermoplastic water tubes, polypropylene iirc, that are joined with heat. For pvc there are glues much more reliable.

I think I would've attached the valve to the tubing nut first. That way, you can orient the tap position before torquing down on the compression nut. This plumber will end up with either a loose valve or a cockeyed tap.
