    I am looking to buy either a used 120d or 120ii for self tapes, is there one you prefer over the other for flattering, soft lighting?

  • @TracyDavis904
    @TracyDavis9044 ай бұрын

    Flattering soft lighting will come from your modifier, not the light itself. Go for a large soft box.

    Strobes. This set up was just too much to put together and also the output is not enough. If you get a Westcott flex kit it has enough output as a constant light set up. This set up was just far too cumbersome to use whenever I don’t have my own studio.

    Will mark 2 of Sony 12-24mm F4 release soon? If I want to pair an ultrawide lens with expectation of a bit of crop to use as everyday lens to the A7RV 723g with Tamron 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 1155g, should I get Loawa 10-18mm F4.5-5.6 manual lens 496g, Sony 12-24mm F4 565g or Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 795g?

    Great video with real world experience which is great. Your background audio is too loud overall and interferes with your main audio in the mix. Good info and advice overall. I am debating the K2M (older analog) vs the K3M (digital) and this helps to understand why K3M is better overall 24bit :)

    Great review--some of it went over my head since I'm new to audio. I've been looking for a better mic for YT vids and voiceovers in Premiere Pro for my videos, would this be a good option? Currently using a Samson meteor USB mic that plugs directly into my computer and recording directly in Premiere or with audacity, do I need garage band? And what interface do you recommend I get for a beginner to get the mic up and running so I can use it with my computer?

  • @TracyDavis904

    Hey Tracy, sorry to bug you again, but I have a follow-up question. For a 24.4.2 (two of them linked as you do with your two mixers), will ONE mac mini be able to run both of these mixers via the firewire 400 and will the one IPAD be able to control both of the mixers? This seems to be the hesitation.

  • @TracyDavis904

    @@TracyDavis904 I appreciate your patience as I probe your memory from that far back. Lol. But just seeing if you can assist a little in initial attempts to set this up. Bu chance do you remember if you have to pull up the app on the computer twice? This seems to be the limitation that is hanging up the audio guy. We use the tablet to control the mixer so we need to make sure the computer is seeing all 48 channels. It seems that they heard with FireWire (400) that it can’t do all 400. This just seems like presonus would have worked this out before release of the mixer. Thanks again for all input you can give.

    Hi Thanks for this! If I record two channels with the K3m, they end up being two mono's baked into one audio channel in Premiere Pro. How do I make each one stereo and also seperate from each other?

  • @TracyDavis904

    I don't use Premiere but in Final Cut I make the audio channel for the clip 'dual mono.' I can see track one and track two and I select between them as needed.

    I realized this video is more than 10 years old, but I have a friend who still uses a presonus mixer from back in that version but his is the 24 channel. He's wanting to do what you did, but his question is, "do you need TWO computers" or did you just need ONE mac Mini to make this work (with two display monitors).

    Dude! if you switch the back mic to off I'm assuming you would get left and right channel combined through the front mic. and vice versa if you switch the front Mic to off. The only time you would have separate left and right channel is when you have both Mics activated Or when you have a mic plugged into the external Jack?

    Hi, Tracy, thanks for the interesting video. When I try to connect the 3.5 mm output of my Zoom H6 recorder directly to the 3.5mm mic input of my Sony Alpha7iii, I get a high interference level (no idea why, perhaps because I'm using a 10 m long 3.5mm cable??). So I'm considering to buy the K3M for directly recording in my video files the sound recorded with the Zoom H6 (mainly interviews and classical music). Do you recommend it? In such a case, what would be in your view the best interface/setting, knowing that I generally need to keep around 10m distance (sometimes more) between the subject that I record (usually my wife while she sings classical on a stage) and the place where I have the Sony Alpha 7iii recording? Thank you! Roger.

  • @TracyDavis904

    Hmm I’m not exactly sure, sorry. I know you can record directly into your a7iii using the line out port on the H6. Have you tried that?
