If they distributed players by weight, I'd be happier for you. But what are my thoughts feelings and opinions for? Mattering? Pththth. Ya right. Have fun being a 30 something man that transitioned to a girl just to punch down. They don't sell products anymore. They sell investments. Cool. Now everything is a rich man's game.

The thing is they're not actually a publisher, we keep calling them that because that's what the origins of the company are, but in actuality they're a venture capital group, or they try to act like one. It's obvious to anyone that knows anything about modern investment culture, we've seen venture capitalists strip mine everything from fast food chains to big box stores to residential rentals. The fault here lies in those who sold their companies to Embracer, to deny that they didn't know what kind of company they were or what they would do in the future is just a lie, these guys are privy to economic information we don't have and we could still see it. The Vidya industry is one of the last frontiers for venture capitalistism, Embracer aren't the only ones and they're definitely not the last, if we're serious about protecting the industry then we'd pressure publishers and dev owners not to sell to these companies. But hey, we can't even boycott gambling in games so we go no chance. I mean Embracer is one of the most obvious and blatantly worst venture capital groups I've ever seen and we all let that shit happen.

Came back to rewatch this because Capcom just released a trailer for a Dead Rising "Deluxe Remaster" and I don't hear Frank West AKA TJ Rotolo in it. Therefore I'm immediately disinterested in it.

I am confused. if Embracer spend 2 billion aquiering all those studios, wouldnt the money they spend, those 2 billion be in the studios they aquired, so those studios can use that money to make games and pay their employees? isnt that how its supposed to be? I am not a big fan of Capitalism, but isnt that was is supposed to make Capitalism so good? that a rich person can go around and be "I belive in your company, here have 2 million to make a good thing and then you pay me back" How did they spend 2 Billion and there is no money around?

As a person, I feel for each of the 4532 people affected by terrible management. As a retired Six Sigma greenbelt, I am disgusted that Embracer's management thinks this is acceptable. I'm disgusted that the management team put their own gains ahead of the business. The man that put me on the path to being a greenbelt told me, when I started, that he would never accept his staff being fired for cost saving reasons, his staff deserved to treated better than that and people will work harder when their jobs are secure. He was a great manager. What a shame that there isn't more managers like him.

We can get as mad as we want, & we should, but it needs to be explicitly said that this is capitalism working exactly as intended. Embracer are an inevitable outcome of this economic system.

The idiocy of Capitalism never stops. Pre-name change, THQ Nordic was doing quite well. It was sustainable. But of course sustainable is not acceptable under Capitalism. You gotta use up everything, burn through all resources, in order to have "infinite growth" and to have it as quickly and extremely as possible. Of course, it isn't possible. Growth must be finite. Under some sort of sane system, the goal would be to reach an equilibrium, to exist in balance and sustainability.

I have to disagree with one of Steph's takes. Corporate execs absolutely understand consequences. They simply do not care what the consequences *are* - they will never have to reckon with anything that happens to their companies or employees, so consequences do not matter to them. It's less ignorance and more actual malevolence.

I worked for Embracer for 2 years - at Asmodee (their Board Game subsidiary group....thing) and it was just...there were so many baffling decisions coming down from the corporate and Embracer side of things, and we were under constant fear of layoffs. It was massively stressful and mismanaged as fuck.
