After more than two years looking for an adventure, it finally took a failed house move to put what would have been stamp duty to better use. We bought a motorhome! And of course we had to name it Stampy. We're new to this lark and like to give you the 'warts and all' experience, so don't expect expertise, though hopefully we'll give you some laughs everytime we get it wrong.
Before the failed house move, we had planned to get a second house in France, but then a pandemic and Brexit happened and we were scuppered! So we feel like our time in Stampy is our chance to do something different in our lives.
We live on the south coast of England and have four sons, one of whom is now grown up! Our three younger ones are all home ed, and mostly don't mind the motorhome adventures!
You can buy us a wee drinkie here! ☕🍾🍻

Why did you call your van Stampy?
Look like the curtain rail is across all your window. Just need to remove track stops to put in full size curtains. I just use them part open with a blackout blind down a bit to keep sun out of eyes and off computer screen. This also lets in some light and air in summer.
@@qwertysds thanks. The slide up blinds are really good for blackouts, Bee sleeps better in the moho compared to home in the summer. Thanks for the observation!
We found that if we were uncomfortable in an area, we would turn round and go back out! Unless you are booked into a site in the south if France, the whole area is very motorhome unfriendly. We now prefer the West Coast of France (Lacanau is a beautiful area) or inland towns and villages.
@@dianerichardson3061 yes, we should have left - we've learned that the south of France is not great for motorhomes and agree - the west is wonderful. We were going to move to the south west region a while ago - before Brexit 😔
Another tip, leave fridge open when not in use to stop mould. Some fridges have a safety catch on the door which you pill out, leaving about an inch gap round the door to let air circulate.
Funnily enough I've done that ever since using a peg (we don't have a catch) after finding this minging mess! Shameful 😆
I'd trade in your kids! Be prepared for a list of jobs to do everyone you come back from a trip! 😂😂
@@dianerichardson3061 😆😆 yes I should have delegated more 👍🏼
A tip! Invest in the wing mirror covers. You can get them on white! They are worth their weight in gold! We have had our mirrors hit about 6 times since we bought our van, a couple of times glass has popped out and these are easily replaced but has saved damage. to the wing mirrors themselves.
Great tip thanks! 🙏🏼
Glad to see that window finally repaired. Did you get a clean air sticker for the fridge, gosh what a mess that was.
@@RobertSmith-cv1cu wasn't it disgusting!!? Ashamed. Mind you, think it had been brewing for a while after we vacated.
Daz, we had the same issue with our 2008 Motorhome best solution is a bonnet bra ( not joking), cheaper than painting thanks Jim
@@scotblock111 😆 will check this out! Thanks 🙏🏼
Did you have a link for your mirrors ? Mine are black, so many different prices on ebay
@@karlmabe1649 he'll look it up for you, he doesn't think it was eBay but we'll let you know and post in the description asap! 😀
Fiat Peugeot citroen always have paint peel on there vans water based paint to save environment is the culprit all the best donny
Hope it's not an expensive fix. Thanks Donny 😁❤️
lol 😅Daz is so excited about his new wing mirror his tool kit contains some fancy stuff cutlery 😂hilarious but he gets the jobs done to be fair well done 🎉
This is Daz in his happy place 😆😆😆 Thanks Lorraine x
Hollywood should hire him for a Dracula movie. I'm sure he will will generate a lot of "Fangs" 😜😅😅 and it will be something he will sink his tooth into 😅😅😅
😂😂😂👌🏼
Loved your solo video Lynsey, looks like you had a blast. The Buzz is gorgeous
Well done, you did what you thought was right. I'm following another couple who, on their first day in Europe had their dog attacked by another on a beach and spent the next 3days at hospitals (because the wife was bitten) and the dog ended up having to have an op at a vets (once they found one!) very scary. I must admit the French do not seem to bother disciplining their dogs and let them run riot in places where there are people, children and other dogs without any thought. Good on the site owner making them move on.
Wow that's awful! Yes. We all have to be responsible dog owners. Thanks Diane x
Yep, joys of motorhoming. We come home from every trip with a list of "jobs" to rectify. We have 2x 11kg Gaslow bottles. Easy to fill in Europe but very hard in UK. Looking at trying to find a way to change to propane (red/orange bottles). Campinggaz is way too expensive! Hope your trip is not too dishearting. We've just come back from a 5wk trip to France a week early due to weather. We used "Camping Car Park Aires quite a bit, but a lot more expensive than the old 5euro sites we were used to.
Oh, the weather has been unseasonably wet over there hasn't it? Yes, camping Gaz is too expensive! Good luck with the switch and thanks for watching 🙂 x
What do you do with all your personal belongings when you’re renting out your home?
Ah it's tricky. We lock three rooms in the house - two out of the four bedrooms are not available, and neither is the playroom. But because we are going in and out of the house all summer, I wanted it to be as easy as possible. So I have sorted capsule wardrobes for the two boys whose room is used, and put a lot of excess stuff in the loft. We depersonalised our house last year and because it is on the market that works quite well. If we getting a viewing though.... That could be tricky 😬 still, all good fun!
Lovely video guys x
Thanks so much ❤️🙏🏼
Come over to the Isle of Wight. We live in west wight, gorgeous beaches and properties x
I haven't been to the Isle of Wight for years! Will check out how much Stampy will be on the ferry. Thanks for the suggestion 😃❤️🙏🏼
😮Did you get the window fixed? Thx
Yes, finally! All repairs in an upcoming video ❤️🙏🏼
It must be expensive for you I think you do terrifically well. if you do find a property with a bit of renovation that’s needed I think it would do well on KZread although I know it’s a lot of work editing etc. A lot of people seem interested in that and it may generate some good income for you. You may get some sponsored gadgets also to help you kerp goats down. See you in the next one
Thanks Lorraine, it's definitely something we've thought about! We've just got to find the right house! X
Looking forward to end of France trip. Then the repair and upgrade videos. Hoping for an LPG one as my LPG system paid for it self in less than two years.
Ah Daz has some videos up his sleeve, time allowing! Thanks for watching ❤️🙏🏼
❤
So lovely seeing this update and your home ❤ we have stayed there about one year ago and our three boys are still saying how much they loved it! Should you ever plan on having a trip to Germany, our driveway could be yours for a while 😊
Ah what a lovely thing to say, and so nice to have one of our guests as a subscriber! I've only ever driven through Germany a couple of times - we definitely need to visit ❤️
So much to see and do in Dorset hopefully we off Friday week to charmouth for my birthday just renovated a 1996 ci motorhome mot on Thursday great vid guys all the best donny
Good luck with the MOT and have a happy birthday. Love Dorset so definitely planing on spending some time there on one of the weeks thanks 🙏🏼
I didn’t notice he had spelt it wrong lol 😂 it is a bit of a mouthful. The AirBNB must be extra work for you Bee but if it is generating some good Income for you it’s worth it. Everything is so expensive and you are supporting a young family. I really like your home see you in the next one.
Thanks Lorraine, it will make a difference to us this summer - home ed can be so expensive paying for exams and classes ❤️
The Lake District or the Cambrian way Wales
Thankyou for sharing this update. Lovely to hear from you. You are a lovely family. I am sure you will find your dream home. Dave the pheasant was hilarious. Lovely setting very peaceful. Cool bike Daz makes me laugh. I have a female greyhound rescued her five years ago she is just the same any noise spooks her. I think they are a highly sensitive breed. I really look forward to your next trip in stampy and I am sure Daz will be operational again keeping us amused with the latest DIY disaster lol 😂
Ah thanks so much Lorraine, what a lovely comment! Oh how lovely that you have a greyhound too! They are such soppy dates. Yes I have told Daz to correct the spelling of 'pheasant' as he's in charge of captions and needs to spell check more often 😂 thank you as always for watching ❤️
Sammy is so cute 🥰
Isn't he just? He's becoming such a character! Thanks 🙏🏼
And whilst at the shops in Pont Neuf, you didn't visit the magnificent Stade Rochelais rugby stadium. Never mind, enjoy your stay around here. Isle de Ré is just perfect for cycling.
🥰
❤️🙏🏼
Hey Daz, a Stevie P tip from a ex WAFU. Buy B&Q rubble sack and keep in the van. If you lose a window they are a one time fix as super strong. Maybe go to the french version of BQ whatever that is 😂 Keep up the what3words, kept a few for future use, thank you.
Great idea, why didn't I think of that? 😄
Hi, can I just say bee, I love your daily walks and talks. So informative and a pleasure to watch thank you. 😊
Thank you Susan - I needed to hear that today 🙏🏼❤️
The cathedral of Strasbourg is breathtaking in its size and attention to detail! Thanks very much for this vlog!
I really wish we'd gone inside! It was stunning from the outside ❤️
I suppose every city has its bad areas. Overall this is a pretty city. You have certainly visited some beautiful places on this marathon trip.
Yes, we really were spoilt with beauty! Probably should have done Strasbourg first but it wouldn't have made sense geographically. Thanks for watching ❤️🙏🏼
❤
as an American traveling from Germany in 1962 to Paris, as a 8 year old, the lightning storms are one of the beautiful things I remember of France. at 70 years old, I still love storms!!
What a lovely memory! ❤️ Thanks for the comment 😊
I drove a bandbus for many years (basically an overgrown RV) , I always used an electrocuter with a fluorescent bulb inside behind a grill , like the type you see in butchers shops . I bought it at a garden centre , they're brilliant and clear all flying insects including mosquitos
Hi good point about the dog Nobody should be intimidated by any dogs please view the vlog by Ruth Aisling when She was attacked by a large dog in france it might be an idea to carry a pepper spray.
Oh my that's awful! You're right though, being a responsible owner is key.
We have a statue of Liberty in Cleguerec and Gourin, here in Brittany. There are other's in France!
Wow it's everywhere! Thanks 🙏🏼
I think you have to be licensed and trained to own a Rotty here in France. They also need to be muzzled when out and about. This is why they legged it immediately, I reckon!
That's what I read. If my memory serves me correctly they were Belgian and I'm not sure what the rules are there. From what I've read they don't have the same laws. Thanks 🙏🏼
If you bring a dog into a country, you have to abide by the law of that country. So, they should be licensed and dog muzzled.
We have a Belgian Malinois. We know he's an a**hole, he is always on the lead with people about. 😅
Thanks. Went back and watched what I slept through last night. That painted wall, amazing. See what you mean about the service point, we carry gloves and spray cleaner to wipe the hose end, always run a little water first before putting into the van. When I got to the view down the Canal, done that on a jigsaw.
Ooo I bet that was a lovely jigsaw! Thanks 🙏🏼❤️
🥰
Lovely video sorry about the problems you encountered awful. Very nice place so pretty.
Thanks Lorraine, it was such a beautiful place 😍🙏🏼❤️
That service point did not look the best . I would have given that one a miss. We only use ones where we use our hose . Right hand at the back of the casette will be better forthe air in valve with right thumb. . That looked awkward. Colmar looked good as it been on my visit list for a while now.
It was awkward. Colmar is lovely, definitely worth a visit!
Ahh thats sad it probably ruined there holiday
I hope not, but hopefully made them think about keeping the dog and everyone around safe.
I agree you have to take Le petit tren, and Colmar and Eastern France is so beautiful. Those paintings of windows are superb. Great video and good music
Ah really glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼❤️ thank you x
