I came from a very traditional conservative background ideology in which we were always discouraged by cutting our wings from childhood. Loosing mother at early age we seven children faced lot of conflicting situations. At such vulnerable age we didn’t know that my mother was promoting social transformation by encouraging guardians to think differently and encouraging them to send children to school. She had kept us isolated from the rest of the society when she was alive so that our mind doesn’t get contaminated with traditional belief system. It must have been very difficult times to take such brave radical step to go against the social norms during those days. After our mother expired people people around started brainwashing us to think and follow the traditional social norms. At one end we all were suffering from pain of psychological trauma of loosing our dearest mother and we were surrounded by people with conflicting interests and traditional belief systems. Our ears used to be filled with followings comments from neighbors, relatives and communities:: You are six sisters, so you have to be in your limits. You are not allowed to do all things that your brother is allowed. You are six sisters , so you cannot be out at nights. You are a girl ,so you have to learn all the household works. You are six sisters without mother , so you have to get married earlier and move to the brides house. You are aware that too many sisters and huge financial burden , so you cannot choose the educational carier you desired. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

My mother, Heera Devi , was the first woman in the history of Nepal who delivered public speeches to a big audience which had only men during the political revolution to overthrow the Rana Regime. She was the first woman in the history of Nepal who led a procession and was arrested with a one-month old child in her lap in 1947 A. D. This news was published in several newspapers in India. She bravely managed looking after all the freedom fighters in the hideouts. Among the revolutionary men’s groups, she used to be the only woman during all the riskiest times of the people’s movement. She was the first woman who started teaching children, collecting children in the hideouts facing all the risks of getting arrested in the interior core areas of Kathmandu Valley during the 1940s A.D. She also used to be a single lady in the crowd of men who braved against the aristocratic rule of the Rana Regime to fight for the rights of citizens including education system for the general public. She did it when women were not allowed even to peep out from the window for fear of being whisked away by the merciless rulers.

During time testing times facing with multiple challenges at such tender age I was learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my nervous mental state and allowing myself to take those much-needed time to face extreme stresses affecting my health, with the trauma of loss of my dearest mother hanging in my head and competing with the best talents of India during my student days in India. Thank you so much for your continued understanding and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.
