I really enjoyed this, interesting point of view. I don't know if you travel to upstate New York... aka tje people's republic of New York. I-87 exit 16 tjere remains a truck stop called Scotties. Scottie has been there for the vast majority of my life, and was actually the 1st "squad building" when Wilton Emergency was in its infancy and they allowed to park our ambulance there and plug it in. Aside from a few "modern" upgrades it remains the same old Scotties when I was 16 and an Explorer with Wilton. It's been a little bit since I have been up that way, we were headed north and decided to see if the resteraunt was still resteraunting... it was and the coffee is just as good as it was almost 40 years ago. If you are ever up that way, it might be one you want to check out.🙏💜

Back in the late 70's and 80's. Was in most of the old real truckstops. Matthews I stopped in every trip back south. Back then we had truck stops. Not fuel stops like today. The old North 40, was ok. But I always ate at the white pines that jointed it to the north.

I liked the old North 40. I used to stop at Matthews at the Flying J a lot back when it was still a flying j. It seems like that was the place to go when you were in matthews. I stopped at the TA quite a few times when they still had a restaurant but wants the restaurant left there wasn't much there I wanted. And when the Flying J in Matthews burned down and they rebuilt it with that Calamity they call a truck stop, I don't really stop there anymore if I don't have to

It's been fluctuating but I've noticed that when it comes to whatever reason you're running, if you can hit a Groove where you're making money, you ride that Groove as long as you can. My bread and butter has been getting a little light lately and I'm working on finding a New Groove myself. It's all about staying fluid and while we don't work for free, it's about staying out a couple of days and doing what the other guy won't because while a lot of guys are wanting to go home every friday, I'm making three to four thousand dollars that weekend and I'm not going to turn that down in this economy. As for a specific area, some people do better than others in these areas and like I said, if you can get it to click, go for it. My buddy used to make all sorts of money in areas that I could never get to go and vice versa. Don't be afraid to take a little bit of a risk if you're interested in running a lane

Some were top notch...with clean rest rooms and showers, good & reasonably priced food in their store and/or restaurant, plenty of parking with trashcans that got emptied regularly... Others were terrible with rest rooms that had not been cleaned in years, showers so dirty you had to wear shoes, overpriced food that I would not feed to someone I hated, diesel full of dirt and water, parking full of trash and piss jugs.....and lot lizards and hijackers to keep you company at night.
