Now I want to go digging in boxes, I think I have a couple of my Dad’s old radios. I remember he had a Lafayette, Midland, and a Montgomery Ward, he also loved side band. Dad was never a trucker, but when I was a kid in the 70’s, we would often make drives between California and Dad’s native Oklahoma. Dad always drove straight through, usually at high speeds, often 100+. Running I-40, he always had the cb in his ear with an old school wired earpiece, and he was always talking to truckers. Those trips are some of my most vivid childhood memories, I knew where every Stuckey’s was because Dad loved the pecan rolls, and I fell in love with trucks. Shiny and lit up with chicken lights, driving a truck is all I’ve ever wanted to do since. Lofty aspirations, I know, but now 35 years into my trucking career, I still love it every day.

Those are great memories. When I was a kid we used to run from California to Southern kansas, right there on the Oklahoma border, where my dad was from but he drove like a disabled grandmother. This was in the mid to late seventies. Back then, CB radios were a valuable tool

Had the WV-23 as a base on a power supply. Moonraker 4 beam & roter on the roof . Once and the amp on stand by. D- 104 also on the Robin. Lived in NW Indiana few miles south of I- 80/94 . There was a base antenna on almost every block.
