Hello friends! I'm Joanna & this is my channel... please subscribe so we can do some amazing things together!
I am a wife & mother of 4 (plus 8 cats, 3 dogs & a handful of others I cook for daily for 10+ yrs). I started doing cooking videos for our friends & have recently launched this channel so I could help YOU. I cook a LOT of whole food plant based meals as well as vegan, keto & more. My philosophy in teaching is to provide reasoning & not just direction via someone's recipe. I seek to explain, breakdown & help you understand the foods & tools I'm working with & my goal is to make sure you're much better off for having joined me. You'll learn the WHY behind the way foods & spices work & what they do for you. You'll learn the HOW behind the tools to use & what to do with them. You'll learn the WHAT behind the core of the foods you're working with. You'll learn WHERE foods come from. Last, I'm the WHO that can get you there.
Again, please join me, & let's have some fun! Joanna

You lost me when you dissed raw food for cats. Byeeee.
Why vegetables, fruit or grains, because cats are CARNIVORES NOT HERBIVORES.
Great detailed video. Will have to try.❤️
A soldering iron would work great for this. Just make sure to use an unused tip so as to not get the chemicals from the soldering elements on your plastic. You can get a soldering iron very inexpensive at harbor freight.
To much trouble
Chickens are so much cheaper in the USA than Canada......where I live a 6 lb chicken, not organic or free range is 25.00......is the reason for adding rice & vegetables? To bulk it up?
How do you make it if you don't have a pressure cooker?
In a pot ont he stove but it'll take a lot longer. quite a few hours prob. and you have to keep adding water because it will evaporate
Do you know where I can get a really good dog food recipe? I’m also looking to feed my dogs better and get them out of processed foods!
I have a dog who is eating cook at home food. Can I take this recipe for my dog instead of a cat cuz the texture is similar at what she is eating??
By the looks of your kitchen, you should easily be able to afford as much catfood as you want.
Your missing the point. Processed food for cats is full of preservatives and junk that is not healthy.
I’m definitely going to try this recipe ty. One question I’ve been told you should never use cooked chicken bones for pet food. Does the vitamin crush them down so there’s no possibility of bone shards?
@@tagpopper4520 great question! Yes, after they are either slow cooked extensively or pressure cooked, enough of the minerals have leached into the cooking liquid (why we don’t throw any of it away) that the bones are brittle enough to crush in the Vitamix. If your food processor doesn’t handle them well first try adding more liquid, then if it still doesn’t work, simply pick the bones out. Hope that helps, Joanna
Thanks so much! I’ll probably take out the bones because I won’t be pressure canning. I’ll freeze a months worth as I’ll be using them right away. This is a wonderful money saving idea!! So scary what’s going on right now with the pet food industry. So many pet deaths.
@@tagpopper4520 it’s tragic. If you need/want any freezing tips I have a short video on freezing my cat food. What you will be doing will be closer to what I did in my earliest chicken cat food video if you want to see me picking through cooked chicken for bones! 😜
What size is your instant pot or what size would you recommend? (I have a 6 qt) Thank you for your very helpful videos. We feed 20 +/- cats. This is so great to learn!
@@robstarr1637 I use a 6 quart instant pot. You have quite a crew to feed! I’m glad I could help.
You lost me at adding carbs. Cats are carnivores Ppl wonder why their cats get diabetes and kidney malfunction.
When you said you had 13 cats I knew this was meant to be. We also have 13. All rescues & foster fails. Cat food is super expensive and I’m not impressed with how it’s made. I’m excited to try this as I have much of what is needed to do so. The last recipe I saw required a bone pulverizer that was around $600-$700. (It was a raw food diet) Several of my cats won’t eat raw so that wouldn’t work anyway. My cats gather around when I make chicken soup for us and beg for bits so I’m pretty sure this will be a winner. Thanks for the recipe and all of your great videos with your adorable cats!!
Awww! That’s fantastic. I’m glad I could help. It’s amusing when cats start begging!
You all are wrong about carbohydrates. You're believing the lies that the pet food manufacturers and the vets have been telling you because they are all paid by the pet food industry. There are some veterinaries online who speak the truth and say that cats can actually metabolize carbohydrates. Stop believing the lies that media and veterinaries feed you. Go through the channel veterinary secrets and he will tell you the truth.
I'm curious why you used so much water in the canner. I've only ever put 3qts in my presto canner unless I'm using it as a water bath canner.
What is the pot you're using?
Can you use an Insta pot?
Please put the recipes in the description 🙏
This was super. I've done something similar for my dogs and have been looking for something for my cat. I have a quick question, would it save some effort to pressure cook the rice with the chicken?
I have read that cats should not have egg whites. Have you had problems because of this?
Is there an actual recipe somewhere with how much of everything?
Do you freeze this?
This lady is starting cat food factory 😂
@@mugimesh my cats sure think so! 😆
Fantastic tutorial, thank you! I was waiting to see your cats eat it at the end ☺️
Thank you, and you’re welcome. I have a couple of separate videos of the morning clown show also know as cat feeding time at my house! Thanks for watching!
1:29. If my cat doesn’t like it, what to do?
Add a little to their other food, more each time take it slow
Give it to the dogs
I cant wait to start making my cats food! Thank you for sharing 😅😊😂
You’re very welcome. Best of success!
Im gonna have to try making this. Nice easy and cheap. Love it!👍
She is a bit too pretentious for my liking. That won't work in my kitchen!
I don't have a pressure cooker and no room in my kitchen to have one. I have 4 cats and feed 6 ferrals, what should I di in this case?
I want to see your cat eating it so we can see how good it is
How much pressure for how long to can? Sorry - couldn't understand due to sound.... Re: carnivore - I do understand the purists who want only meat products if their income allows it. But for us who have so many strays due to crazy local laws, no city assistance, and lazy citizens, we on already very low incomes are trying to fend off their starvation and ours as well. Straight dry food dooms their kidneys, so having this as a substitute gives them better food allowing we cat ladies to still eat and pay our electric bills.
Awesome!
Your mixture seems very liquidy.
How much water are you adding tot he pan for poaching (to ensure you have enough for the rest of the recipe)?
Is there any way to get the recipe without subscribing to the mail list. I already get SO many emails and I just want to be able to have your recipe to try this out for my 2 cats. I’ve been looking for something healthier for them to eat and I think this would be great to try. I’ve tried following along with the video, but you don’t include how much water you add to poach the salmon. Certain things like that are missing and hard to follow. Please let me know! Thanks 🙏🏼 ❤
Thank you I will try your recipe I do cook chicken for my cat sometimes and give them a little beef. I use organic meat, I have five cats all are rescue except one. I will leave off the rice and the week I do not think the animals should be eating that. Thank you
YOU HAVE A FABULOUS CAMERA PERSON.
@@MargoLanding-it8qb I will let him know! Thank you!
Cats are strict carnivores. Anything else you add to their food is a junk food that make them sick. So, if your prefer to pay veterinarian care instead the proper food it's your choice. From my experience, on the long run, your will loose monay.
Cats eat grass... And while things like rice are not a part of their natural diet, if you go look up some expensive special vet food, you'll see it contains things like broccoli, pumpkin etc, which are very healthy for them.
Do we have to pressure cook it ? Can I just put it in a crocpot?
You can use a crockpot, but you will have to cook it for 12 or more hours to get the bones soft enough for grinding/blending. The process will look more like what I did in my turkey cat food videos and oldest chicken cat food video (I used a pot on the stove for those). Pressure cooking dramatically accelerates the process.
At first I was amazed at how shiny your kitchen oven was....then you mentioned 13 cats which is more amazing!
@@erickamarsh3327 hah! Thank you. The cats have shown up over the years and added themselves to the family. ❤️
I cook for small dogs. I use all the fat and fluid from whole chicken in their rice. Rice is also good roughage. They love it mixed with butternut squash or sm am'ts of sweet potato
Pepper Turmeric , Pumpkin ???
I was hoping for a taste test. Lol
WOWWW 😊
Wait is it wheat germ or wheat bran?
Can we omit a few items if we don't have them onhand?
Thank you so much for this recipe! My vet said my cat would need a special diet from Hill's science that we couldn't afford but this recipe will save us so much and we can add the DL-Methionine for pennies which is the only noteworthy ingredient in the Hill's prescription food that costs over $120 for a disappointing small bag. The Hills C/D uses really questionable ingredients (corn as main ingredient??) for such a high dollar brand like corn and mystery chicken by product. Remember, the FDA said that pet food can be produced from animals that are diseased, dead and decomposing. Seriously look it up it's true and look up how the euthanasia drug is often found in pet foods so think about that how is that getting in there? It has been reported on Mutiple occasions that rendering plans use animals shelters as one of their sources for meat product. Rendering plans are black box. Hill's science has repeated instances of shady behavior, yet they market themselves as this science backed brand, yet all the "science" comes from them directly from researchers they employ. Just look up Hill's Vitamin D crisis, the copper false research paper that was redacted after the science was questioned for lack of honesty, and as recent as this year they're getting sued for fabricating the grain free scare which the FDA has debunked after investigating but not before it crashed the rising popularity that new grain free and independent brands started to build. Surprisingly, Hill's science started the rumor in the first place, and they are the ones who got the FDA to investigate grain free diets. Hill's science specifically got the FDA to investigate only grain free, independent, designer brands that shockingly encompassed everyone but themselves, Hill's claims the cost of the product and the need for prescription (which is absurd there's no reason) comes from the massive amount of money they invest in research to make their food the best and they have to cover that cost in the product. Maybe consumers should get a refund for this science they paid for if some of it was junk. So, we were not excited about our vet wanting us to use a brand that deals in pseudo-science lies and doesn't care about killing pets (look up how they delayed product recall causing hundred if not thousands of pet deaths and costs an absurd amount of money. All while we are barely able to keep the electricity on and the Morgage paid. I was looking through all the options and couldn't find something cheaper. Looking up homemade and raw food led me to KZread channels promoting raw food delivery (that would cost about the same as my grocery bill!) or a well-meaning pet lover who show how to make a recipe that costs $10 a meal because it's made with only organic products, fresh meat from a butcher, local goat-milk, and a list of expensive supplements. Thank you for realizing the need people have for cheaper options and making this video! I stumbled across it and I am so glad I found it!
Do you have a list of the ingredients? I really am not sure what one of them is. 4 grams of ... ? I can't understand what you're saying. Thanks
There is a list in the description, but also in the description is a link to my site where I have a PDF of the recipe available for download.
Cutest kitties!
They make me laugh.
