I just beat AT Nergigante with my friend. He already finished Iceborne’s main storyline, but he doesn’t have any end game stuff. Personally, I chose to get the full experience of MHWorld before Iceborne was released, so I farmed the best set I could (Lunastra armor for Mind’s Eye, and Lunastra-Xeno’Jiva ls), and the corresponding hero’s streamstone (it took me about 50 investigations, because I was so unlucky I got 8 other hero streamstones before getting the sword type). I attempted AT Nergigante once, also with my friend, when I just unlocked HR50, and didn’t have access to augments. Now with all my preparation (and learning Nergigante by fighting him in the Arena and also fighting its Tempered version), we beat him first try. I don’t know how I ended up involuntarily dodging almost every single one of this new attack, and countering the rest. It ended up being way easier than I thought because I just knew every single move of his, and just rely on countering Nergigante because he is so aggressive.

The insect glaive may very well be a good counter to some of these AT Bosses. It certainly was when I was fighting AT Kushala solo. Perhaps even a mid range option like a bowgun would be a fair choice

it's like tradition for monster hunter to make the pinnacle monster to be nigh impossible. i just remember molten tigrex on the top of tower from old ver of monster hunter that's just so much pain in the ass to kill cause of the endless roaring, high speed, and crazy atk stat.

Skill issue. You are using charge blade. The weapon that has the highest skill requirement in the game while playing the endgame where there is already little room to fuck up. Dont fuck up and you wont get fucked up which is easier on other weapons.

What I take from this video, is Lunara is peak incompetence in development. Hitboxes are not even that difficult to create, yet MHW is a prime example for how not to do it. And Arch Tempered in general shows, that the developers and the people in charge of them never played video games. .. Well, I kind of don't want to get those Nergigante Greaves Gamma anymore.

I'm extremely late to the Monster Hunter franchise as of this comment, so I'm mainly going to complain about normal Nergigante instead: Nergigante is by far the toughest boss fight I have in Monster Hunter World right now, right up there with Deviljho and the 6 Star Rank Anjanath. He spams plenty of powerful attacks that, not only are difficult to dodge and avoid, but also do a lot of attack damage when they do hit you. Heck, he has TWO attacks that literally insta-kill you despite you being at full health, one being when he digs his head in the ground and flings spikes towards you in his line of vision, and another when he flies towards you at high speeds that also flings out spikes that clap you immediately. That kind of one-shot damage is pure bullshit.

While I understand that a good few monsters, especially elder dragons, have some stupid moves. But I don’t think it’s fair to call it “difficulty done wrong” when even the fights are on a rotation and only for more experienced players. And also, are we basing all this off the gameplay off one weapon type, because I know that the game plays very differently for each weapon type.

When I was new to the game and using insect glaive the AT nerg slam attack was actually the worst thing ever. It comes out so fast, and dodging that attack in the air is extremely difficult. In my most current playthrough (which is my third) I beat AT nerg with not too much issue. For reference I was using greatsword, had quite a few defensive abilities (tremor resistance, stun resistance, health boost, divine blessing, fortify), had healing augments on my weapon and had access to slinger bursts (yes iceborne was on, no I didn't use clutch claw). The dreaded slam attack was not a big deal surprisingly, as I died way more to that one flying punch it does while enraged. The quest timer isn't really a factor, as I typically beat it around the 30 mins mark. I like AT nerg somewhat, as it's actually really challenging compared to the easiness of regular nerg (not to say it's not a fun fight). For AT nerg specifically I do feel like it is quite dreadful though. The fight goes on for so long, and one little mistake can get you carted really fast. I guess I'm trying to say that I feel the AT elders aren't as bad as they've been made out to be. I do agree that vaal and lunastra are really annoying, kushala isn't worth talking about as it's just harder kushala (which itself isn't a fun fight in this game), and AT teostra's physical attacks are brutal. I think that is the point though, to be so brutal as they're endgame content, but that doesn't make them not offputting and somewhat annoying.

i farmed nergi a lot in high rank and learnt its moveset, then ruiner showed up and got destroyed in 8 minutes before shara. ruiner was a lot easier

Of course a while after this video we got AT velk, and honestly she is super fair except that damage. You can shut her down with elderseal and she hella weak to fatty weapons cause of that and her high phys hit zones, but you still need to play super consistantly with few mistakes to truly capitalize on this. Outside of her damage though, positioning, hitboxes and punish windows are super forgiving once you learn what to do, and if you know what you are doing those ice patches are very fun with dual blades and hammer

Just started a playthrough using the Switch version of this mod from Gamebanana on Ryujinx and good fucking lord I had no idea how badly GU neutered the CB, and this is coming from someone who loved Adept CB in GU. Before this I always thought "Well maybe it was stronger in 4U but I'm sure people are just exaggurating at how badly they nerfed it", but now? I'm literally like Frank in the "I get it....." scene in It's Always Sunny.
