    Hello, I have wired my 3 phase motor per your video and used same components best to my knoledge, the issue I'm having is when I turn on my 120v brkr it pops. I looked over everything a phew times and can't see what's wrong. Any ideas. Thank you for your time.

    Long story short multiply the gapping center to center times the shrinkage of whatever offset angle you are using, so 2 inch spacing with 30° offsets would have you advancing each mark a half inch on every pipe for your starting point. 🤘

    Thanks for the video but let's save some time 1/2 tangent of your degree x gap of pipe. Add or subtract from your 1st mark depending on if it's the shortest or longest your starting with. Also this should work the same for kicks

    Greate video and explanations. By any chance would you be able to put out a bill of material on all the components you used in this video. I'm looking to wire my garage elevator in this manner. One switch downstairs one upstairs and one on the lift.

    So I have a question, Why don't u have to account for the cross-section area when u put all the numbers in. Was it because it was already account for in the code book?

    Should also make sure that your multimeter is rated for the voltage/ amperage you're measuring. If the multimeter isn't rated appropriately it could cause death.

    Ive had to check a lot of these. I would check the overload for tripping first. Then the 480 V fuses and then the motor for grounds. I found that rarely did the control circuit had problems.

    Great video, however I have a suggestion. Use a digital protractor on the long side of the pipe , zero it, than after your first bend test the bent end for 30 degrees. Also note the spring back and write it down for the next guy. For example you might have to bend a 33 degree bend for a perfect 30. Thank you for your video.

    I have 4 mixer motors at a WWTF. I have had to turn the yellow amp adjustment from 8 to 14 amps to keep them running with out tripping. 1 of of them however now runs for 1-3 mins then trips everytime. Pulled and megged motor. It is good. Voltage is good and consistent with other mixer motors. I have not seen Amps above 7 on anyof the motors including the one tripping. Any suggestions? Going in circles with Evoqua. Plant is 1 year old. All ran good first 6 months then developed issues after that.

    You're using 10amps for VFD and motor control yet say that 10amp relay not to be used with anything requiring a load? 10amp is the common rating for general residential use, lights and power points, here in Australia.

  • @AccessToPower
    @AccessToPower3 ай бұрын

    The 10 amp relay is being used to on the control circuit of the VFD… not the motor circuit. The current on the control for a start signal is measured in milliamps.

    I always teach to only swap A & C phase to reverse the phase rotation. This prevents accidentally burning stuff up in the rare time one may have to deal with the high leg on a 120/240 3 phase feed. (Code here is the high leg must be on B Phase)

  • @AccessToPower
    @AccessToPower3 ай бұрын

    That is a good idea. Especially if the control voltage is 240 volt delta. But it is a good practice to teach newbies as it eliminates possibly making a mistake when the voltage, or high leg information is not understood or known. And yes, High Leg is most often on B Phase in the field... but there are some utilities that provide the high leg on C phase and it must be switched after the MSB to B phase on all Panelboards, and MCC's. This too can be a bit confusing and cause people to make mistakes. Thanks for your comments and sharing your best practices with the community.

    Why does the neutral have to go through the overload relay and not just straight to the coil (A2)?

  • @AccessToPower

    If the neutral went straight to the coil then the motor starter would never trip due to an overload

    The symbols we use in the Netherlands are so different, would've never recognized that to be a coil. And why over complicate it with the overload switches, that could've just been an add-on after you explained the circuit. The drawing is complicated to understand if you don't know what the coil does and how it is connected to the switch
