Basic Motor Control: 3 Wire Start Stop Circuit (updated)
#AccessToPower #MotorControl #AccessElectric
accesstopower.com
In this video, I demonstrate a 3 wire Start/Stop circuit with multiple push buttons. This is an update of our original video by the same name • Basic Motor Control: 3... . In this video, I try to show the field wiring as clearly as I could while at the same time, showing the live wiring schematic. I made this video in response to several comments from viewers who were looking for more clarity. So here is out updated 3 wire start stop circuit video. I describe each of the components involved, such as the motor starter, overload, start pushbutton, stop pushbutton, and control power and how they work. I then screencast a simulated circuit so you can visualize exactly what is happening in the Start-Stop Circuit.

This should be show to all people learning. You’ve taught me what college never did. I was a bit lost with it all but this has completely made me realise where I wasn’t grasping it. I appreciate it!

Thank you
What a great and easy to understand tutorial on the start stop and hold circuits. Even the old Allen-Bradley mechanical contactors from the 50's are still wired the same way. I'm saving this link for next time I have to train another maintenance helper!!!

Wow, another great video! Thanks so much. And using the clear plexiglas mounting is a brilliant way to show in a (literally) clear and engaging way just what is going on. This was definitely a worthy update from the earlier video, thought it's best to watch the other one first, and then this one. My only suggestion is to add 2 indicator lights. One to represent the load being controlled, and the other to indicate POWER ON to the basic control circuit (ie, Breaker On). With these, you could start by manually closing the contractor to show that the load lights up. One additional suggestion would be to inset a close-up view of the contractor connections when you're discussing them so we can see when you have 2 wires connected to the same terminal (which is think is the case for the blue and red hot feeds for the contractor coil).
Amazing!.You are the best youtuber electrician teacher!.
Great knowledge i appreciate, thanks to you
Incredibly helpful! I absolutely like the real time explanation of every wire as you talked about them. DO NOT STOP MAKING THESE VIDEOS! Lol If you read this please make a video about forward and reverse motor controls. Single and 3 phase. I get hung up on the wiring of the forward and reverse contactors. Awesome channel!

Great job. If I could add an Estop circuit. E stop relay that would be awesome TY
Thanks
Huge fan can you do a explamation hand automatic switch wiring or a explamation
I fucked off my whole 3rd year of electrical apprenticeship n never payed attention in the LaBs on how to set this up. Now 4 years later I’m trying to pay attention because I’m on the roof and might come across this lmao
great vid. thx so much. On the ladder diagram can you label the corresponding termination point?
Paint the edges of the feet on your stand white to match the rest
Good job sir. 👏 can you do something on how to connect a star delta rotary switch?
Pls give more controlling circuit videos
Use white background for your schematic and match the wire colors with the actual wiring.
i should have paid for ur class rather than to my institution... tnx alot
Hello..I like your informative videos. I'm not an electrician and want to know how to properly test a 3 phase contactor. For example if I do a continuity test @ A1 and A2, coil. what should be my ohms reading? Thanks
Thank you for the information sir, but where is that wire coming into the auxiliary contact from? The one right next to the breaker
I learned stop start buttons at a ski hill. The old analog lifts are nothing more than dozens of stops and a couple starts. Not fun testing a stop three thousand feet away from the motor room.
Great videos, thank you. The next step (question) would be adding a reverse direction circuit. Start forward, start reverse and stop. Have you done that video?
