Motor Controls: Using an Ice Cube Relay to Start a VFD
#AccessToPower #AccessElectric #MotorControls
accesstopower.com
In this episode of AccessToPower, we show you how to wire up and use an ice cube relay to start a VFD drive when it is programmed to start with a 2 wire start signal. We used an 8 pin relay with a start-stop button and a 3-wire start stop circuit to open and close the relay. We then used the other Normally open contact on the relay to start the drive.

For motor controls I think this is the best channel on KZread. Your videos are thorough and very well explained.

Need support I am not familiar with this equipment the transformer burned and some bulbs
New at this, just moved from Maintenance Mechanic to Instrumentation and Electrical Tech., i struggle to understand how is it that the motor keeps running after the start button was let go. Saw this video and is very simple, Thanks A lot.
Excellent video Walter! I have been looking for hours for how to setup a remote start for a VFD powering a 3 phase motor on a table saw. Yours by far is the simplest, most straight forward with a clear explanation of how to do it using an Ice Cube Relay and the functionality of that relay. This video provides background support for your other video: "Starting a VFD with 2-wire Start". Thank You!
Definitely, the best site for controls.
I did learned something even being a Industrial Electrician years back. Id usually just use the start / stop etc inputs on the drive though. I personally never have wired a relay to drive like that before so it was a great vid.
thank you so much..im gonna look like a genius...you saved the day friend!!!
Great straight forward explanation Keep up the good work
Awesome videos! Thanks so much!!
Excellent Video.
Great content
Awesome!!!! Thank you so much!!
Amazing Thank you Sir.
Awesome explanation you should have a course online your step by step can’t be any better hope you continue making videos great job

Good job 👍 .. Learning in a steel mill.. seems overwhelming.. place is very loud in places and can't communicate while watching trainer.. Hard place to learn.
Excellent
Awesome! 👏🏽
I watched you video a lot
Instead of jumping wires it helps me better wireing like that
Can you wire to wire 2 wires from start to 2 and 3
Why doesn't the power from 1 and 3 cause a short against the line? Or maybe electricity doesn't work this way

If you look carefully at the schematic about minute mark 2:40 you will see that 1,2, & 3 all originate from the same source. Therefore they are the same potential.
Can you control a VFD with a start stop holding circuit and a field device such as a pressure switch?

Yes you could
Great work, what program do you use for your motor control simulations? Thanks

If I understand your question correctly, you should be able to connect a timer circuit in the same way that the float circuit is connected in the video link here. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y35nmLWggKSodtI.html
What software do you use to make your videos?
Can you just run two wires to start
What software is your circuit drawing?

It is Constructor software
?
You're using 10amps for VFD and motor control yet say that 10amp relay not to be used with anything requiring a load? 10amp is the common rating for general residential use, lights and power points, here in Australia.

The 10 amp relay is being used to on the control circuit of the VFD… not the motor circuit. The current on the control for a start signal is measured in milliamps.
