    Thank you for the info. I cannot listen to you and read your text on the screen at the same time, so I had to keep pausing. It's all good, just suggest not doing that. Don't talk while the text is up.

    Can i let them in my green house not heated in canada really cold?

  • @BernadetteGourder
    @BernadetteGourder4 ай бұрын

    Yes, I prefer to just leave them outdoors and let the weather clean them up! But if you feel your greenhouse is safer from rodents, then go for the greenhouse. I have done both and the greenhouse method does produce more mold, but it is also a slower drying process which may help in producing a harder shell.

    Heya i came in the possession of a nice gourd and was wondering how birds react to them, all other small pests are kept at bay by cats. Thank you in advance for answering. Warm greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱.

    Birds love gourds. Make a hole that is the right size for a particular species. Loosen the seed inside and hang it up securely.

    You said suggested some great safety precautions & safety materials & said “SAFETY COMES FIRST” then you proceeded to saw a gourd directly on your lap, no thick apron or anything & towards your “ungloved” hand & using an “electric saw?!? I was waiting for something bad to happen & for blood to splatter the camera lens!! Please use a work bench or a table to place your projects on or at least place a cutting board on your lap & wear kevlar gloves so you won’t lose a finger or two or sever an artery. Were you even wearing the safety glasses or mask? SMDH 😖

    I agree that many saws are dangerous in unskilled hands! However, in the video I was wearing a thick apron, I am very skilled with what I do, and I was using a very low risk jig saw that is operated with a foot pedal. It would pose minimal risk to even an untrained person.

    I hung some up I grew and somehow the field mice found them. They had to have crawled down the string the were hung on. Ruined everyone of them. 😢

    The internet says to cut out the green shells so the outer shell will dry up brown , but can´t peel the green shells off them without tearing the whole thing apart by accident . I soaked them for a day while green skin was on them . I believe I just ruined them . What did I do wrong ?. There is no other way to peel the green shells off them , so when does the green shell turn to brown naturally & in how may days till they turn brown naturally ?.

  • @user-nb9rt6zk6h

    saying they fell too early if they can´t be peeled off while green , so don´t soak them , just dry them instead says the internet .

    So they turn brown naturally & don´t need to be peeled when green ? . Just wait till the shell turns brown & dry enough to whatever , what long it turns brown all the ways from green with black spots to brown all the way maybe four weeks later , & just found out the green ones don´t get ripe once off the tree while green .

    Thanks Bernadette. That was great. I have one large one which has taken a year to start browning off. I had moved it from a cupboard to a shelf in laundry, but after video will move into garage. I am looking forward to the final result. Thanks.

    FYI wearing an ov-glove with a rotary tool is probably not safer... I can see a thread getting caught in the spinning shaft

    Those seem like they could be made into all kinds of things, like lights, little houses with windows etc, bird houses, bird feeders, bee hives... I just don't know how much weight they can support.

    Is there any way to dry a gourd AFTER it's been decorated? I paintred a gourd for Halloween and it came out much bettrer than I expexcted, and I'd kinda like to keep it as a permanent seasonal decoration. If I hollow it out from thebottom or something, will that keep ir from rotting? What do I do? HELP!
