Great work as always Brian! And with lots of progress too! Happy 4th of July I hope you have a great day!
Happy 4th of July Brian. Thanks for the time you invest making videos for us to watch and learn from
oh man.... im disappointed that I didn't speak up about wanting to see the transmission build.... I am learning so much. Happy Fourth. BTW.... Thanks for the quick turn around on the ARP studs! I appreciate it so very much.
Thanks Brian Happy4th & Happy Birthday America🇺🇸 lou
Hello, what was the process for aligning and torquing the 4 plates on the 2 ends of the pto supporting both shafts?
Yeah, it's just easier for us common folk to swap out NV4500s until you find a good one. 😂
Happy Fourth of July to you and Maria! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Looking good Brian, thanks for the update. Have a happy 4th. 🇺🇸
👍👍👍
It sounds like you really need to get an apprentice. It looks like a huge work load.
Great video, im rebuilding one right now and my front counter shaft bearing is very loose on the end of the shaft, is that normal? My kit came with 2 different needle bearings, one fits the shaft good but doesn't fit the case.
I like the bob-tail style at 9:55. Switching from leaf to coils in the rear and bobbing off the rest of the frame could complete the look.
Awesome bub 💯🤷🙂🤝🙂🏃👈😎❤️👍🥲.... I was wondering about how to re-drill my wheel adapters for my car, since this is aluminum 🤷🤔.... Apply coats of oil with a brush to the surface first 👀🤔🙂👍💯😎🥲👍.... MACHINE SHOPS WANTED TO CHARGE ME 100 DOLLARS A PIECE TO RE-DRILL MY WHEEL ADAPTERS 🖐️😐😳😳😳😳😳😳🤷🤬👎🙅🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.... Thanks for uploading, have a safe n happy july 4th 🎉 🙂🤝🙂💯😎🥲👍
Thought i got dumped again from my subscription
Great video that engine sounds fantastic. The military cj3b looks like things i try to re uild. My jeeps are being built with help from your great video Thanks again Brian
Im sorry for your loss, I to lost a Gary to COVID he was my brother! Thanks for your videos
Maybe I missed it but if not; Part 2 please. Will the linkage incorporate spherical bearings?
Another great video, thank you. , You always do excellent work, Often wish your videos were a bit longer, but I realize that you are a busy person and have a lot of things to do. You build such nice jeeps, It would be great if you would just took a couple days off work and went out wheeling with one of your jeeps and made a video of it. It sure looks like you could use a brake and some fresh air out of your shop, and it would be awesome to see you running one of your jeeps.
Brian, I feel your frustration. I do not ship a lot of items by LTL freight but some suggestions, people that I have used in the past, UPS Freight. They only ship terminal to terminal. You have to haul it to the terminal at your end, the consignee has to pick it up at the destination terminal. Most recently I have used RL Carriers and have been pleased with their charges and services. They offer liftgate truck service for pickup and delivery at an additional charge
Where do I find the right lube?
AWESOME!!! Making it Bullet Proof. Thank you Brian.
great job
Great. About half of mine are upside down..noticed this today while adjusting my valves. Can i flip them with the head on and the engine in? 6-226.
Shell Rotella T4 and the WIX filter is by far the very best combo..... I agree 100 percent!
Beautiful job! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
To put into perspective I had a single cylinder K series Kohler crank ground locally and it was $115.00.
Brian... Thank you for the video. I like the 258 CI engine because of the torque. Nice job making it flat. Juan
👍👍👍
Have you ever tried relieving an F head around the exhaust valve like you do on the L head and did it help power output? Just curious.
No, the F head has large intake valves in the head and much more power than the L head engine. I don't ever relieve F heads, only L head engines.
Thanks for the video Brian. I have rebuild my entire jeep with all your help. Starting to strip down the engine next, last piece to do. I trust my jeep wil be good again for the next 70 years, thanks to you. I have a 48 cj2a with the F head engine. Which carb would you recommend? With the 2a hood being so low, we are a bit restricted in what carbs we can use. I have lowered the engine down as far as possible already.
Another beautiful engine, sounds good. I don't mind the fan, it's needed. Finding a military Jeep with all the matching data plates is hard to find, it's hard on the civilian Jeeps to find as well. My 54 has all the matching tags, but the parts civilian jeep i traded some stuff to a friend for had no tags. I took it apart, and it had military wheels, axles, transmission and transfer case, once i got past the grease and 3 other layers of paint, found the olive drab paint. The hood was olive drab underneath, and had the military stencils, and under all the paint on top was the olive drab with the red oxide primer. What was left of the body came from a 53-55 cj5, with a ruined 48 L134 engine. There are some cobbled together rides out there. It took me many year's to find a decent military Jeep, because being up north, the rust is a killer, and going to far out of Michigan wasn't an option. I know you will have that Jeep looking like a true military Jeep. Listening to my grandpa's and uncle's talk about wwll, korea and vietnam always made me want one, plus my grandpa drove an old 50's jeep around the farm, and it was fun when he'd take me out in the corn field's after harvest and run it around. He let us kid's drive this old 67 mule around the farm, those were pretty fun to tear up the field's with. Hope thing's are getting straightened out with the shipping headache. G-d bless.
which modern starters are we able to use with these engines?
👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I’m really curious to see what your research yields about the military 3B. That’s gonna be fun to see come together
WIX are the best! Beautiful job on that motor!
wHY WOULD ANYFB90DY SAY SCHELL TUNDRA OIL BE THE WRONG OIL IT SHOS HOW S HOW OUTVOF TOUTCH THEY ARE. 😅
Lo venden
yes this truck is for sale
👍👍👍
stop worrying about the JERKS I think they comment because they know it bothers you Brian the material and videos plus time to show us all what goes into rebuilding these old soldiers is appreciated by many of us that always don't comment. I myself have 5 in various stages, one I keep running here in MASS only because of your great videos, never did any mechanics until i found youtube with your channel learned so much. Thanks Mike
For me If it doesn’t have a cat it gets T4
hey man its your motor your money your name on build use what you like and trust !
That would be the exact oil. I run in all my old vehicles.💯🎯
This is what i put in my jeep, and used it in my 62 cadillac hearse i sold a couple year's ago, and it worked great. People whine about everything. Obviously he has many year's building and running these jeeps engine's.
For such a much needed-channel as yours, with all the pertinent, expert Jeep info, it pains me that it's like 1990s videotape quality. 😐
Close your eyes and listen to the words.
Thats why he builds engines, and can do the work, all these great oldschool guys still use Nokia phones., he doesn’t waist his time on KZread. Soon there will be non left.
Just pretend it's 4k, and appreciate that Brian is putting out video's to help those of us who want the advice for restoring and working on these old Jeeps. I highly doubt youtube is paying for all the equipment it takes to rebuild engine's, drive train, and all the fabricating he does. I grew up in the 70's and 80's, with 3 channel's on either a black and white tv, or the color console tv which was good back then, but much worse than the 90's anything. This kinda knowledge is going fast, so maybe give the guy a break. G-d bless.
Good work don't come cheap, cheap work don't come good.
Sorry to hear about the freight issues. I felt I got jerked around when I sent my engine too. Did I understand that you have an SGI body? If it’s a 2A that is part of your inventory reduction let me know please. I’d make the drive.
I did have a bunch of SGI body kits in stock but all have deposits on them already. Lots of people don't want to wait for them so as soon as I said I had some for sale I got swamped with emails. All are on deposit at this time.
I have good luck with Fasenal . But been a few years.
fastenal no longer handles freight where I am located
I know of several hotshot truckers out of berks, Lebanon and Lancaster counties in southeast Pennsylvania. They’re running dually trucks and deck over gooseneck trailers (not enclosed) I don’t know if they regularly go to Connecticut or not but the one guy put 80,000 miles on his truck last year so he definitely gets around.
would be interested in talking with them. They can contact me anytime at [email protected]
T98 4 speed BW rebuild kit? Source?
T98 parts are tough to find these days. You can get gaskets and some small parts thru most transmission parts dealers. Gears and hard parts are hard to find and that is why most people are moving to the T18 because everything is available for them.
@@metalshaperJeep thank you Mr. B.
Two things you need to try, uShip and lots of eBay. After that you will appreciate the norm of poor service. Seriously, I have shipped a lot of aircraft engines and parts. The trick for me is taking the load to a freight hub. That means a 90 mile one way trip for me. Your talents are being wasted. Best Regards.
Uship is terrible as well as Shiply, won't use either again. Still hoping to find other options and keep the money in the small guys pockets instead of the huge trucking companies
Not freight related, but do you post any listings for the stuff you're selling online? Not sure what that entire engine is worth, but I suspect the paint job alone is $1200 😂
I did sell all of my CJ2A sheetmetal parts already and do post things from time to time, but lately not much has been selling so I am filling scrap dumpsters like crazy because I can't even give most stuff away. Not many people want old tools or machines any longer, and if I am selling Jeep stuff people have no idea what things are worth these days. If you need anything just contact me directly at [email protected]
