This was really stupid. How much does an American worker make compared to a Mexican or Indonesian? It’s like you spent all this time trying to explain something, but you missed the entire point.

Is funny guitar players have this bias. I call it the mystique bias. We see our hero rocking something expensive. We think to sound like that we need THAT gear or the US made model, but no. Tone is somewhere else. Seen guys with expensive stuff and can’t play a bit. Seen guys with epiphone and kill at playing. I guess it comes down to two things. Got the money to spend? and do you really want to part ways with your hard earned money for some confirmation that your guitar is the best? When you clearly aren’t the best a playing anyway. Best example I can give you is Gibson studio vs standard is mostly (take it with a grain of salt) aesthetics. Or a JCM 800 reissue is $3.5k vs a DSL made in Vietnam. Well the reissue jcm800 now HAS Vietnamese transformers and such… 😅 But the price tag changes coz is ensamble in the uk

Is the neck build (dimensions, radius, etc.) on the Mexican Standard/Player guitars the same as the American Standard/Pro guitars?
@audiophileman7047Күн бұрын
What you said about not getting a great guitar can equally apply to the less expensive Strat's as well. The branding differential cost you determined is an oversimplification; it doesn't simply mean cost for extra body work and better hardware. Another cost is the time involved to fix and upgrade the less expensive instruments. The additional cost also involves image, environmental protection, fair labor, and resale value. When someone buys a quality U.S. made Strat, he or she is buying the mystique of a bonified pro grade American Strat, protection of the environment, fair wages and benefits for Fender's highly trained craftsmen, Fender's top technology, and much more stable resale value with potential value appreciation. In some cases, U.S. made Fender guitars can become collector's items over time. So you're getting a lot from the U.S. made Strat that goes beyond just distilling everything down to the final initial price. If someone can't afford an American Strat, I completely understand buying the less expensive Strat's. There's nothing wrong with that. It's also a bonus to those who enjoy fixing and upgrading their guitars themselves. To say an American Strat isn't a good value depends on what you value and what you can afford.

Hello... you said that bodies have no difference; well, they do have a small big difference: until 2001 the wood of the body of the standard strat was poplar and from 2002 it became alder... therefore your mexican standard is made of poplar and your mexican player is from alder... small big difference ☝️

I feel there is just no way around learning chords and scales, the function of their notes, their voicings and substitutions in order to get fit to place that one or two tones which enhances a position beyond the 'box'. I am saying this because I am finding it really hard to make the transition from patterns to a flowing string of notes which are meaningful. Especially in a minimalistic environment like Blues. Anyway, thanks for your well made video. :)

I have had the privilege to experience both American and Mexican built Fenders. I currently own a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster and a MIM Fender vintera 50s modified Telecaster. The American Deluxe is a second hand guitar that I have owned for more than 10 years and is still playing well. The build quality is superb and it is hard to pick up any faults in terms of quality. The only thing that ever bothered me about the guitar was the noiseless pickups which were swapped out for Dimarzio True Velvet single coil pickups. I purchased a MIM vintera 50s modified Telecaster new from a local guitar store. Upon purchase, there were a couple of issues with the build quality including: A loose cut neck pocket, Nut string slots which were cut to large, a lack of roll over on the fingerboard, string ferrules were set in incorrectly, A crack in the finish located by the neck pocket and a nut that was cut in a way where the strings are slightly offset. The guitar also had fret sprout but that is not always linked to build quality. Despite all these issues, the guitar sounded really great. I spent some time working on the playability issues including dressing the fret ends, rolling over the fingerboard and refiling the nut slots which made the guitar play like an absolute beast. I believe that with a little bit of work, you can turn a MIM into a top notch instrument. However, off the shelve, You could pickup some issues with the quality.

The diagonal blues scale, I think I discovered it in one of your older videos (thanks for that!), is the best shape of all (I call it the "flag" shape). I spend months memorizing all the pentatonic shapes but that scale has all the pentatonic notes plus the blue note, and it tells you where the blue notes in each "conventional" pentatonic are (two in every position). And with extending the "flagpole" one fret above and below you get the full minor scale together. And you are not stuck in just that one position you learned but can diagonally play across the whole fretboad. So you can memorize one lick in that shape and move it one octave higher or lower at any time. And two frets down is the next same "flag" shape, this time going through the major pentatonic positions. And all that just with memorizing this one simple 5 note shape.
