I think it's important to distinguish between "Culture Wars" and legitimate debate about cultural issues. These issues do matter. And it makes sense to discuss them, and reach some sort of democratic settlement on them. It becomes a "Culture War" when you're trying to get one over on the other team. When you're deliberately trying to antagonize or demoralize your opposition by capturing new ground and further politicizing culture.

This was a great discussion. So many facets and possible viewpoints identified and discussed. Both the panelists and audience making all very thoughtful and respectful contributions to the discussion. I didn't agree with everyone's point of view but that in no way diminished the value of the discussion, perhaps it enhanced it. I love it when people with different opinions get together and in an atmosphere of complete respect for one another can listen and reflect and discuss - seems to be a dying art in the age of soundbites and sensationalism, where the more offended someone claims to be the more of an audience they seem to attract. I especially liked Heather Brunskell-Evans' contributions, she was the star for me.

Remember the dawn of the internet? Information reigned supreme; well mostly. The internet was created by scientists to share research and knowledge almost instantaneously globally. I could find almost any collegiate subject issue research subject. The disappointment came as it evolved into cookies, search algorithms, and search engine manipulations. In other words: The Temple of learning and Knowledge had been taken over by the Money Changers. Researchers had their knowledge copied and pasted and sold or blocked everywhere they couldn't control. Example: Before; I could do a search engine search on the topic of Diabetes. I could find easy access to a list symptoms, and physiology pics. ; diet planning, foods to avoid, foods that are preventative and good, and food based herbal remedies. Now it has been co opted by people selling doctors, prescriptions, only selling insulin in a list so long it blocks all other useful information. Who fact checks the fact checkers? In this case they would say the doctors? Doctors aren't always interested in prevention because they get rich off of the Corporate Snake Oil Vendors. They sell sugar drinks, processed food with added sugars, on and on. I see this ongoing barrage of ramped up information as a clever institutional corporate ploy to take over the flow of information to take back what they control of when people could actually access the truth. Its an information war. They think if they ramp up the information noise to a psychologically intolerable level people will demand some kind of intervention or filter. Stalin recibió una Rusia que estuvo en guerra casi 30 años. (Empezando con la humillante derrota frente al Imperio de Japón, 1904-1905. Revolución Rusa, 1905. WWI, 1914-1918. Revolución Bolchevique 1917-1922. Guerra Civil contra los “Rusos Blancos”, 1922-1927. WWII 1940-1945… Más la Pandemia de la mal llamada “Fiebre Española”, en 1918-1920. Después llegó el brote de la “Peste Bubónica” en 1926. ---En 1932-33, Stalin implementó una campaña general de vacunación contra la viruela, la cual propuso en 1936, que fuese una campaña mundial. La viruela se erradicó en 1980--. Y, más el “Crack Financiero de Wall Street”, de 1929-1937). O sea que, Stalin, asumió el poder de un país golpeado por las guerras, enfermo por la Pandemia y, económicamente quebrado por la crisis mundial. Estas calamidades dejaron una Rusia desposeída y miserable. Stalin la rescató imponiendo disciplina y trabajo. Ni antes ni hoy, nadie en el mundo puso en duda su ENORME LIDERAZGO. Stalin fue genial; magnífico, cultísimo y astuto. Fue un Titán con mano de hierro. Amado por su pueblo y temido por sus enemigos. Hace más de 70 años que Stalin murió y, la Propaganda Occidental, no afloja en denostarlo. ¿Con qué propósito? ¿Cuál sería su utilidad ahora? [*Y, acá, va un dato que dimensiona la grandeza de Stalin. Joseph Stalin, fue nominado DOS veces al Premio Nobel de la Paz (en 1945 y 1948), con el apoyo de múltiples instituciones universitarias de Reino Unido, Francia, Italia, Suiza, Bélgica, y Grecia. Esas nominaciones fueron tomadas en serio por el Comité en Oslo. A él se le acabó su tiempo. Stalin murió en 1953, sin recibir nada, pero sí, todo el reconocimiento de su propio pueblo]. .
