I used Bristol Vellum 230 grams is this good for color pencil and markers
This is the truest thing! Get a lighter grip on the pencil at least halfway back on the barrel and roll it as you go to keep shaving the point, and use the side of the lead more. Take one hour getting used to it, if it takes that long. Then you get even, smooth, feather light coverage across a sky or water.
Haha thank you! My oldest daughter is a wonderful artist and can actually see all the variations of the colors. I see 7 colors. Sometimes they’re lighter or darker but they’re always just those 7. Not including black and white obviously. 🤷 this video made me smile

I tried and ruined my drawing
I was working with the black pencil trying to shade. I kept getting it too dark. Maybe I have a heavy hand? I'm a novice would-be art fan. I like coloring, and I'm trying to boost my coloring skills. I'm not an artist. I can't draw a decent stick. I can color a tree 🌳 and make it "purdy." (Southern US for beautiful)

I like making art commissions because I enjoy helping people's ideas come to life. It's always super fun to get excited together to see the imagined scene/world/character develop as we continue through the project. Sometimes it does drag though haha
This video is excellent! I'm learning a lot about color theory. I want to print out the color wheel and watch again while using my pencils. I just bought a set of Polychromos. I could only afford the 36 set. If I can master this, I'll have more than enough. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️.

To reduce that shine is one solid reason to use this pencil, but there is NO doubt that using it totally adds to the quality of the work in its light and dark tones. I love it. I’ve been receiving some nasty injections and I’m not finished apparently, I’m just hoping I can get back to sitting and drawing again. I’m feeling a desperate need to be creative and I’ve got story pictures lining up in my mind’s eye. Thank you Kirsty. Thank ou very much for all your amazing videos, my creative urges are really surging as a result of watching. Awesome video! This is useful not only for colored pencils, but also for color theory in general. You can really apply that theory to any medium, even digital. Thank you for sharing!!

Absolutely brilliant tutorial. Packed with info but also makes sense. It’s interesting to see how different pressure of the pencil plus the combinations of colours have a different effect on each part of the drawing. I like how you showed your method of choosing colours and the layering process at the beginning, was really interesting.

what type of a paper do u use?
I love using the color picker on my computer to see the color on the computers color circle for hints on which direction within the wheel to go in if I'm not sure

My mum is a wonderful artist and I remember her doing these types of exercises. Every time I asked her to show me, she would explain it in a way that confused me to no end. So, thank you! I get it now.
