The tips are great, but it would be nice if you switch it up and just do a few tutorial art pieces, whether it is watercolor, pencil, or graphite. I learn a lot by watching you go through the process and so enjoy your art💗

Some more excellent tips here! I I definitely paint a lot darker now because of your videos and that's really helped with contrast. You made a really interesting point in this video about having one area in focus and, the rest of the art blurry to create a focal point. That's something that I don't give too much thought to, but it looks fantastic on the drawing you showed of the child ❤

These are great tips Kirsty Thank you so much. That one about drawing and shading underneath a face instead of outlining it is such a great tip.because I used to always outline my faces and wondered what was wrong with it I knew something was off. Not quite right and you hit the nail on the heading saying they look too flat and cartoonish. That was exactly it. Thank you and thank you for showing me the right way. Now I can practice that shading and hopefully they will start looking more realistic and less " Loony Toons" Much as I love cartoons, and I'm still a child at heart. When it comes to drawing realism I dont want Elmer Fudd looking up at me with his rifle. 😂😂😂. You might be a bit too young to remember him. But I'm sure many of your older subscribers remember him. They don't make cartoons like that anymore. But thank God for You Tube now because the art tutorials are so very good. I'm totally addicted to art now and watching all these tips and tricks. Love these tips. I definitely have been doing the removing saturation when drawing a long time, because that is so much easier.

It doesn't matter how expensive the supplies are, it just matters how talented the artist is.

The advice about outlines is REALLY good. THANKS!! I’ve watched a lot of videos lately and NO ONE has mentioned it. Maybe they think everyone knows it But i think this is one of the misstakes i have made. So you helped me A LOT! But, i would really need a video Where you show How you remove your outlines, How you smooth, add shadow and light? Or do you have a video of that already? I just found your channel i havent gone through all your content. If you dont have one i would really appreciate a video about that. And Maybe advice on How to practice it? I would just like an indelt video Where you SHOW How to do the things we need to know How to do lol.

Excellent tips. A comment about art materials: Inexpensive art materials can work fine. Once you reach a level where you'd like your work to last, then quality materials are more important. If you want your art to hold up over the years, archival paper and lightfast colored pencils are a good idea. Also using UV glass for picture framing, and not placing art in direct sunlight. Except for beginners, if the art is worth your time, it's worth good--not necessarily super expensive--but quality, materials.

I am using Hot Pressed watercolour paper and it works wonderfully with my alcohol markers as a base for my coloured pencil detailing but I’m having a problem with my white Polychromo and Derwent Lightfast pencils as it’s now really hard to get a bright white with them over my blush colour marker layer. It was easier on my Bristol extra smooth paper to get a bright white effect from my pencil but overall I prefer using the Hot Pressed paper so how do I get the bright white pencil to show up properly?

I was really wanting to learn more on how to use alcohol, sanitizing gel, baby oil ,etc.maybe there's another detailed video about that.I know you mentioned it but not enough for me one has never used this technique to really learn about it, how much do I use,do I blend it with A brush,etc...? And explaining more about using the white pencil technique. Just more details please because I am beginner and so every detail or some little simple illustrations other than A box would be helpful please.Love your videos but please share more tips on also using what we have around the home , just starting out and im doing little by little every day and So proud of myself in my accomplishments.🎉🎉🎉 Thanks again 😊😊😊.

Sometimes i add those outlines on purpose ... In order to make my drawings look more cartoonish ..... It looks so funny .... I like that ..... depending on the subject. 😂

Which do you think is more important, good drawing pencils or good paper? I think if one has to choose, its better to have good paper. A cheap pencil on good paper will always come out looking ok, but a good pencil on cheap paper always looks bad. Thats my take, anyway. I notice you and several other color pencil artists like the smooth Strathmore bristol. Strathmore says its good but not excellent for color pencil. I heard others say its because it doesn’t layer so well. Do you think its good for layering ?

Which app are you using to creat grids for you're drawings

I used to be able to do the same mind-blowing. Realistic drawings that she has learned I believe there's like a hand full of things/ techniques, that if used in the right way then the art work that's done this way is s much more enjoyable & self- evolving in the art that will be self taught and keeps getting better...but when u loose your memory and abilities an have to relearn it can be extremely frustrating to say the least but I know by watching this lady and in the steps she does them it reminds me of the way I was already learning to put down on paper but ...I just hope I can get back to half of the talent that she ..or I had back when I speak of ..id sure wish she gave online classes? Dino let me know if that's a possibility

I am very sorry but as a professional artist who specialises in graphite pencil work I would personally choose to work from a colour image as it holds more information and detail. Also you can see separation between certain colours that may merge as tones when viewed as a black and white image. It is down to the skill of the artist to determine how to interperate this when creating the look of picture. A black and white image can be used but only as a casual reference to show basic tonal value, you also cannot just desaturate a colour image, yes it will turn it to black and white but it will look flat and lifeless. At the minimum brightness and contrast should be adjusted but many other adjustments can be made to make a more striking image.

Hi Kristy, few years ago I was just intrested into colour pencil drawings but not even able produce a okish one, so I start searching in yt for tips and I randomly find you, since then I'm subscribed to you. You are a very talented artist but there are lot more out there. Apart from a good artist you are also a very good teacher too. learn some from your videos and lot more yet to learn, practicing as much as I could. This is very exciting that now you do critics of our works, it would be great if I get selected and have that opportunity to share some of my work with you so you could take a look and give some tips upon it.. @@caat6098 Yes. That's normal. Graphite and pastel sit on the surface of the paper and it's very easy to smudge them, so it is better not to touch them with your hands, unless it is to smudge deliberately. 😊 If they're in a sketchbook, it helps if you put some baking parchment (the sort used for lining cake tins) between each page to stop the graphite or pastel transferring to the facing page. You can use tracing paper or glassine paper, but most folk have baking parchment (called greaseproof paper when was younger!) in the kitchen cupboard if you are only needing it occasionally. You can use it in between loose sheets as well. Note: If you intend to sell your work, I think (ie I'm not sure!) that glassine paper is probably better for archival purposes. (MY doubt isn't about glassine, but more about any issues with using baking parchment. I only know that I've used this for my work for years with no problem with either the baking parchment or the drawing, whether graphite or pastel.) 😊

First one is proportional problems

When I ask people to *cheap* color pencils they only recommend me the most expensive one and i was angry, because they're not cheap at all. Probably the same would be if I would ask about cheap paints for painting. I would like to buy those expensive materials, but I need money for more important things than expensive color pencils or paints.
