Defeat Diabetes AU

Defeat Diabetes AU

The Defeat Diabetes Low Carb Program is Australia's first evidence-based, doctor-led program that can help put pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes into remission.

Created by Dr Peter Brukner OAM with a team of doctors and dietitians (including Chief Medical Officer Dr Paul Mason and Defeat Diabetes dietitian Nicole Moore), the Defeat Diabetes Low Carb Program can help you manage your blood glucose levels, lose weight and achieve remission.

BIG NEWS! We’re stoked to announce a new partnership with Diabetes Australia to offer hope to people living with or at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Together, we aim to reach the 1.3 million Australians diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with a message of hope for remission through our proven low carb program.

Great broadcast with some good sense recommendations, especially the one about slowly lowering your carb intake which I did at first and it worked fine. My A1C dropped from 9.0 to 5.9 (American units). Then I fell off the wagon. 😮 Tired of feeling like crap and wanting to keep all ten of my toes I had to change. My A1C was 11. 🤯 I decided to bring my carbs down as close to zero as possible. Well, now I know what Keto flu is. 😁 I stuck it out and it took 2 weeks to get my energy back and get rid of the brain fog, but I'm on the other side. A1C is 6.2 now down from 11. Just have to keep on keepin on. Hopefully everyone else does to. Don't beat yourself up when you screw up. 👍

I'm a recovering type II diabetic. I don't eat bread at all because it has sugar in it. I was surprised at that until I realized why they add it...because if they didn't it would taste like cardboard. Ditto with "healthy" cereal. What?! Special K and Total have sugar in it?! Yep, it does. 😢 I can eat Avocados everyday as I live in Texas so the cost is fairly low since we get them from Mexico and California.

This works! I am shocked that this is not being blasted over every media source. This treatment appears to be hidden from the average man-that must be why the diabetic patient that found the remission was so angry. Get sick, go blind, have legs and toes removed when diet cures. Husband went from 14 units of insulin per meal to none (provided he remains under 30 carbs per day). A1c is now 5.5 ( nondiabetic/normal). Still takes metformin and night insulin (dose cut in half). Unbelievable after being on insulin for 30+ years

I need to gain 20 pounds as soon as possible. I’m on an anti-inflammatory diet. I know good fats don’t cause weight gain. What can I eat to gain the weight and then go back to the anti-inflammatory diet?

  • @defeatdiabetes
    @defeatdiabetes15 күн бұрын

Not quite true - even good fats will cause weight gain if you eat enough! If you’re aiming to gain weight while following a low carb diet, here are our top tips: - Eat plenty of calories: While we don’t focus on calorie counting, eating real, nutrient-dense foods can help you stay in tune with hunger and fullness cues. - Ease up on fasting: If you’re practicing intermittent fasting, consider adjusting your fasting window to allow for more eating time. - Eat calorie-dense foods: Opt for foods rich in healthy fats and protein, such as pork, nuts, seeds, avocados and cheese. - Add extra healthy fats: Use olive oil, coconut oil, and butter in cooking to increase your calorie intake.

High LDL can be too high when it becomes unhealthy just as much as too low levels. If you get yellow blotches appearing around your eyes or on your eyelids, it;s probably an indicator of your LDL being more than your body can handle and you need to bring it down. The yellow blotches are permanent.

"Bad LDL" is what is caused by mitochondrial dysfunction in the hepatocytes and mitochondria spilling out citrate into the cytosol. This citrate is converted into AcetylCoa and the either into fatty acids (and pushed out of the liver aqs triglycerides) or converted into the HMGCoa and all down to the cholesterol and also pushed out of the liver in a (V)LDL particle...

Hi there - for management of type 2 diabetes, the evidence is in, and a low carb approach is acknowledged by peak bodies globally (including the American Diabetes Association, Diabetes UK and Diabetes Australia) as being one of three pathways to achieve better blood glucose and remission (the other two options being bariatric surgery and very low calorie diets). So there is alignment on the best tools to manage type 2 diabetes. Defeat Diabetes has now partnered with Diabetes Australia to provide a digital program for people curious about the health benefits of low carb and who want to use a dietary intervention to work towards remission. 30:02 prediabeties and brain glucose spikes and inflammation 31:20 pre diabetes and insulin. Fasting blood glucose will stay normal on the road to type 2 diabetes . GP’s check fasting blood glucose and your hemoglobin a1c to see if you already have type 2 diabetes. What you want to know is what’s keeping your blood sugar normal for all those years .which is RISING INSULIN over the years keeping your blood sugars normal till it can’t cope with all the carbohydrates coming in . Rising insulin causes INSULIN resistance which means insulin can’t get though and the brain can’t process glucose and turn it into energy or anything else without adequate insulin . This is the path to Alzheimer’s and other mental health conditions 34:00 cholesterol/ what do you say to people who worry about LDL being to high ??? And doctors want to give a statin ??? .

As an Australian I think my Governments (State and Federal) are incompetent for not holding the health Departments to account. Health expenditure is just catastrophic, and they keep pouring money into something that is an obvious failure. I had a shock diagnosis, turned to my own research and went Keto. Wife, a lifelong vegetable eater (vegetarian for some years) who always had problems also tried Keto. Health change was fantastic. Off medication (after 30 years). Feel great, brain much clearer. Wife and I are now toying with carnivore. See our friends with problems and they are getting steadily worse yet they just think we are loonies and stick with the Doctors/food pyramid. We don't push the point at all but are somewhat surprised at their lack of interest to do their own research. Our point of view was we didn't want the course the Doctors were setting us on and a drastic change was worth a 3 month experimentation. Was very surprised at how quickly we started feeling better.

Effortlessly lost 75lbs, cured arthritis, ibs, gastric reflux, depression, anxiety, prostate problems, joint pain, sleep apnoea, inflammation, diabetes and a host of other health problems. My inflammation markers are incredibly low, and my calcium score is zero. My testosterone is through the roof. My brain is calm and sharp. Im back in the workplace now shaming guys half my age. Life changing. Life saving. Ive kicked all my meds and regained my life and my power. When i am convinced of the benefits of a product, i become an excellent salesman, but i have only convinced 2 people that i know to join in. The others, despite watching me transform, think that im crazy and about to die. My daughter followed my lead on Carnivore, and put her new baby daisy on Carnivore solids from 4mths. She took to it instinctively and enthusiastically. Her growth and development was literally off the charts. She walked at 8mths and runs at one. At her first birthday party I watched her trying to get out the window to see her dog. She looks and moves like a 2 year old. Awesome.

Children can probably deal with some carbohydrates as their growth and high metabolism will normally deal with the bad fuel before it can cause too much damage. However, standard western diets are overloading even children's ability to cope with carbohydrates. Probably the worst is cereal for breakfast which starts the daily cycle of peaks and crashes of glucose and insulin.

Nina Teicholz. You're my hero! I saw your documentary on cato institute 3 years ago and changed my thinking on nutrition. With you and Dr. Ken Berry I lost 75 lbs and improved my health. So much more than I can list. Thank you!!!

Nina is so right, Keto and time-restricted eating helped me take control over my eating, I no longer have to be controlled by my diet, rather I control my diet now.

Yes! There's so much evidence supporting the effectiveness of low carb in managing blood glucose and achieving type 2 diabetes remission, it's always great to hear from people who have lived experience!
