Flat Tire Farm - Homesteading Alaska

Flat Tire Farm - Homesteading Alaska

Hello! We are Reeve and Chrystal. In 2020 we moved to 40 acres of raw wilderness in rural Willow, Alaska. We hope you'll enjoy watching how we make life functional as we build our off-grid home and farm infrastructure, grow and preserve food, raise livestock animals, and work towards living a zero-waste life. Come along with us as we try find ways to be increasingly self-sustainable while also trying not to freeze to death on Flat Tire Farm.

    I am so glad I found you. I have been considering canning some of my azure blue berries and strawberries. I would like less sugar in my strawberries, so don't know how I'll do that. I want some to add to my yogurt. And I try to not eat unnecessary sugar. But I'll think I'll have to use some for this.

    You're going to have to get a bigger milking shed pretty soon. How is the outhouse? Any updates on it? Love the animals.

    @@MyAlaska12 maybe someday we’ll need a bigger milking shed. But we can only milk one goat at a time right now. When we get like 40 goats, maybe then we’ll need a double milk stand. Ha! The outhouse is doing well… Sitting right where we left it. Ha! Thanks friend.

    Oh those baby bunnies are soooo cute. Goats will eat dog food. I have to feed my guardian in a secret area so the goats don't eat his food. He also gets a fresh egg on his kibble too. It's his favorite. Those two pups are getting so well behaved because of your awesome training. farm cheese is sooo good. Looks wonderful

    How do you get the tallow out of the canning jars?

  • @FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska
    @FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaskaКүн бұрын

    @@deborahhodge3186 I normally put it in 2 gallon square buckets to save for soap making, but for the purpose of this video I wanted to put it in jars so you all could see it cool and harden. Those jars I just put in the fridge and use for cooking and I get it out with a spoon. Be blessed friend.

    @@elizabethogrady5893 hey friend, we plan on building a lamb bar at some point, but one of the perks of purchasing one of our baby goats is that they very well bonded to people. So, hand feeding them gives them that strong connection to us. We will need to do that in the next couple years, though. When we have lots more babies! Ha!
