Planting an Alaskan Garden and Off Grid Outdoor Water System
Alaskan gardens get planted in June and with no plumbing we build an off grid outdoor water station for watering the garden. We also rescue the plant that never dies, rhubarb.

I feel that I speak for the entire Flat Tire Farm audience when I say that I am achingly disappointed that we were not granted the immense opportunity to watch Mr. Reeve perform his rendition of "Pump Up The Jam" by Technotronic, complete with the appropriate dance moves. I have left the obligatory thumbs up, but let it be noted that it was, in fact, under duress. Please see to it that this issue is resolved quickly for the sake of audience retention and overall satisfaction. Thank you kindly. -Dusty

So nice to see you both. There are so many things to do when you have a large property and a beautiful property at that. Rhubarb is so fantastic! All the different recipes you can make. Can you use it in your soaps? Just visualize the color of a soap with that beautiful natural pink color. Happy gardening! Stay cool. Very hot here in the lower mainland of B C and my garden is just loving it. Cheers

That's a great idea! I did think about seeing if we could distill essential oils out of it for soap, but I'll have to try it as a colorant too! Thanks!
Interesting! From the point of view of a man from a different culture (Ukrainian), it's interesting to see frozen raspberries put into a jar with water and frozen lemon. But it's a good way to refresh in a hot season. In Ukraine we boil lots of berries, fruits or boil dried on the sun fruits. We have lots of fruits. My parents even have to leave them just hanging on the trees. And potatoes. We all know the South America's origin of potatoes (and tomatoes), but as soon as potatoes were presented in Ukraine, it had become 'traditional'. It is a little weird to see the way it is put into the groung like that. We got used to grow tators somewhere from the beginning of March (not everyone, but the Southerns do that). So seeing such a 'hairy' tators is new to me. I understand, that it is summer already and summers in Alaska are late and short. I like your videos! They remind a lot my local stories. We, actually, silently hate 😅the beggining of spring as it reminds a lot of us pretty hungry 90s, when our parents took with them to the small patches of land, where we helped them out with veggies. And we have a joke about being with Granny in a village as we had to dig tators out.

Question why don't you use the tractor and dig a hand well for the garden it does have to be real deep you go until hit water I watch channel they have water issue and they look place and found one spot that wet all the time so he took tractor hoe and dig a big hole and hit water and now they more water then they use

Thats a great adea. Water runs anywhere from 40feet to 150 feet under the ground around here. Because we live on an old river bed a lot of the land has sand underneath it. So the water filters down through the sand and doesn’t stay where we can get to it. We will drill a sand point well eventually. Just need more time. Be blessed Wade. 😊
❤❤😂❤🕊️
You are so funny to me but I got one question if you have that big thing that you haul water and after you fill the blue buckets up why don't you all go and get more water to have backup
@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska

Great question. I have to drive about an hour and half everyday for work, the weight would destroy my gas mileage and would be hard on my truck. We do have rain catchment around the property as emergency backups though. 💕💕
