  Hey so first off thank you! I was able to change the format from it downloading it as a WEBM to an MP4 by using that -f b input. But I've heard that you can have them as configs, but I'm not sure how to do it when looking at when people are saying this. This is so that you're not needing to input the commands every time and it'll download it as whatever you want. Do you know how to do this?

  For me, it seems to say 'yt-dlp' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. What do I do? It seems to not be accepting the command yt-dlp and I'm not sure why? I've followed all the steps. I've noticed how for you it says c:\users\admin but it doesn't say admin for me, it says something else. Could that be the reason why?

  Means it can't find it in the directory you're in. Did you do the PATH bit? If not, it won't work from every directory, it will then only work from the directory its in. You will have missed a bit so just watch again.

  When you say "better audio" Are you reffering to this application in general being the best way to download the highest quality audio, or is there something you are doing specifically in your tutorial that gets better audio than other tutorials?

  My mic levels were really low in the original video I did so did a new recording so people didn't have to turn up their volume really high to hear me.

  In the last few days I've noticed that video id 22 (720p with audio) is no longer showing up. I use this format in Kodi for buffering but it looks like youtube took it away. Does anyone know what's going on?

  Yes, if you pick that specific one only. Most vids are video and audio seperate and yt-dlp and ffmpeg take care of automatically merging them together.

  Hello, I tried doing mine in the Videos folder and I created another folder inside it, which somehow looks like this "C:\Users\Name\Videos\AnotherFolder". Then when I try to download, an error pops up that says "Error: unable to open for writing: [Errno 2] No such file or directory". Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

  Im just trying to install VMD controller drivers to an old system to recognize a new SSD, is this one of the only ways to install drivers on an OS thats already installed? (Without using device manager, or windows update of course?)

  No, I only use this method for fresh installs. I was doing this cause some of the laptops not even the mouse was available at install. If OS is already installed then just doing it via device manager is way to go.

  Thanks for the videos on getting started with yt-dlp. Quick question, is there a way to get this to work with a channel, rather than a specific video URL? I'm trying to start archiving a channel that does frequent live streams and cant always be available to grab their specific links. Thanks in advance!

  Yes. Just point to the channels main page instead. Test it out. You could also setup a scheduled task to run a batch file to do it for you whenever your PC is on.

  Glad it help. Be aware, the poles go rusty once wet. Cheap Chinese metal so despite being for a bathroom they haven't bothered to treat the metal.

  Can the server be ran/directly hosted off of Windows or is it required to use the LinuxBox for it?

  Not actually tried but think it was designed to run under Linux. You can just stick it on a dedicated linux box, the VM is just a way of running it within your Windows setup. Its possible it could run under Windows as I think the import just creates files in the directory we set in Windows, that Linux then can see. But I think you could possibly try and run those via CMD. I might try it on another VM.

  I have the server up, I have the ADMIN name for my account in yellow GOD MODE but none of the commands work as I have previous used in prior none WSL builds. any help to get these to work? I have added the commands to the client config already

  @@TheStevenWhiting When i set this server up previously not through WSL. you could type /kill to kill anything, /createcreature rancor would spawn a rancor or /tele 1 1 would teleport you to 1 1 on that planet, etc. but none of these work under this build.. i can not get anything to work now

  I think I said it in one of my videos but I was wrong. I thought it was for security to stop you accidentally running scripts or exes. So you do ./yt-dlp and it will run. Which works but my theory was wrong.

  Can I write comments in config file, just to clarify how each line works? I tried to write comments in new line after #, but yt-dlp recognize word after # and trying to launch youtube search based on it.

  Yes. They have to be done in format: # This is my comment yt-dlp --whatever command # This is my other comment And so on. I've had CMD run some commands in other apps before if you cut and paste the text. So if its running the comments it might be a font issue. Make sure its all plain text.

I figured out that if your comment is too long and you continue your thought with a new line without #, yt-dlp will take it as a some sort of command. For example: -yt-dlp --command # My comment - blah-bla-bla.... and etc (too many words) New sentence on a new line - and yt-dlp start to recognize a whole line as a some sort of command. So, eventually, every new line of your comments should start with #

  yt-dlp --download-sections "*3:35-4:20" URL So will download from 3:35-4:20. You have to have ffmpeg for this otherwise it won't work.

  Its the only option for whatever video you're doing it on. And if you let yt-dlp decide, it will download the best video quality and audio and automatically merge them with FFMPEG.

  Wow, this is exactly what I had the inclination to do the last few days and it seems you had the same thoughts around the same time. However you actually managed to get it going, great stuff. Out of interest, are you familiar with MySWG? I believe there's a git repository and the idea behind it is to create a single player experience out of SWGEmu. Do you know how one would integrate that into their private/solo server such as this?

  No, never heard of MySWG. Single player sounds like it would be a massive task to get working. In this setup, from what I could tell, I think the swgemu folks hadn't given everything available on the blue frogs. So you can't give yourself full Jedi or a working lightsaber which is slightly annoying. Was only doing this as have always wanted to see how powerful the Jedi really were back then. I know people say they were but never got to experience a jedi until the CU and the village, then stopped playing for a while then the NGE came in a ruined it all.

  @@TheStevenWhiting MySWG is already up and running as far as I understand it. It just requires hosting on a server. Have you managed to figure out more of the admin commands and so on, by the way? Perhaps there's a way to give yourself more powers and so on like that.

  It won't think automatically pick what to download. You have to then run yt-dlp again to decide which one you wanted to choose.

My only question at the end was, how do I change where the file gets downloaded to, i'm guessing if you have some basic cmd knowledge it's obvious. Perhaps "it's where you run it from" ?   You can see the command is on the screen already. yt-dlp -f 243 URL 243 will download the webm 360p version.

  Apparently it helps the algorithm and helps get more views but I really can't stand it so never say it. I think I did once or twice then felt dirty after :)
