Thats the 1.3 fiat diesel engine.
Hi, thanks for great video....could please post the link you bought that CHRA turbo core ? Many thanks
wallet savior bro, I'm changing the head gasket on my passat and found half a quart of oil in the charge pipes, must be the turbo leaking so this is gonna save my ass.
why did it smoke a little?
Just burning off the oil etc from the rebuild. Not uncommon clears after a couple minute
Thank you very much for your videos. Would you please tell us where the power steering reservoir is located.
Wish I had this in depth knowledge. Nice work 👏🏽🤘🏽
Bit of a random question, but do the glow plugs actually sit in the cylinder? For instance, if you suspected you had water in the cylinders could you remove the glow plugs and manually crank the engine to force it out?
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Hi Mate. What area do you cover. Hopefully Bh1 😅
@@jamescox389 haha unfortunately that’s miles away 😂
Great job! Felt like it might’ve been easier taking the engine out doing this? Or maybe not..
Haha possibly but my options are limited 😂
same for mk5? golf ?
@@daniyalbagkari depending on engine mate, if you get your engine number and order to that you’ll be good
Do you have your own mechanic workplace or do you work for another employer?
I do this in my own garage or side of the road if doesn’t fit in the garage
Nice and cheap way to fix a TSI turbo. Great job!
Thanks! 👍
30:20 Erm, no. These engines you need to measure the TDC with a scope in the cylinders to time them correctly, otherwise it aint gonna last long 😂 But sure for other engines its the way to go!
But good thing getting it running again. I am guessing the costumer was on a budget, so still better than not having a car
Thanks for the feedback Daniel, after doing 100’s of these and checking with a DTI gauge after, I found every single one bang on so I tend not to use it unless I’m unsure which would be rare. Everyone’s got there own way of doing things though 🤙🏼
@@themobilemechanic1992 If you can get the EA111 bang on you are a wizard! Great job getting it running again. Hopefully the costumer will take great care of her!
Excellent Mac,,,nos what he's doing,,, brilliant 👌😊
Thank you 👍
Nice job 👍
Thanks 👍
Excellent job nice repair 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video. I own this car to now I now how to test and replace the glowplugs. I still own my older 1.4 bipper with 340k. Never had issues with glowplugs. Must say the 1.4 starts much quicker even without glowing. The 9 years younger 1.3 does not start or bad without glowing.
How long did that take you if you don’t mind me asking and what would that cost for a garage to do it, thinking of having a go myself
Like to hear it, this is why I do the videos 👊🏼. 3 hours tops, but if inexperienced I’d give yourself the day 😂. Only thing I would say make sure you got a thin walled 36mm socket for the drive shaft nuts. Good luck to you
@@themobilemechanic1992 cheers brother
Great video! I was just wondering what Nm the cam cradle should be torqued down with? (Can see any comment about it) Would really appreciate an answer🙏
Brave with that. I'd never lap valves myself no point better of dropp head off for full job in machine shop.
@@Milosz9 I’ve never had an issue with doing it myself but if the seats was damaged I’d of done that.
i have the check glow plug error, the way i found out which one is was without the fancy multi-meter, was just take the plug connections off & put a new glow plug on each one , and see if error clears . - i actually did them 1 by 1 - started left to right, and the 1st one cleared the error. telling me the 1st one was a dud - ( but did resistor test after just to double check )
Fair play on getting that running, what is it a 2 litre turbo
Thanks Joe, this is the 1.4 TSI
You take on the jobs I would run a mile from😎
@@kevinmartin9432 😂😂😂 probably should of from this one too 😂
Where are u based ? Or how do i get in touch with you? Email maybe in case you don’t want to share your mobile number! Thanks!
what a honest mech - and totally customer orientated Top marks for patience and not giving up.
Thankyou, appreciate it
Is that from a parts dealer like euros or eBay Great video thanks
Yes mate local motor factors, they do have them on eBay also cheaper again
Great video, very professional, are you local to Essex??
I’m not sorry, I’m south wales
hi pal, your channel got recommended to me by you tube, great video by the way. Coincidentally I rebuild engines everyday, Im from the UK as well, couple of things I do different to you, but still has the same result, a running engine, lol. For once i'm pleased you tube sent me a channel that i'd enjoy watching. I've rebuilt so many of these, for various reasons, head gasket failures, wet belt failures, and when the belt fails, they DO spin the cam lobes on the camshafts, so be careful with that if you haven't come across it yet. Also done a few block failures, due to cylinder wear, because of lack of lubrication on the under side of the piston. They suggest using a torque multi=plier for torquing the crankshaft bolt up..... its called a dewalt 1/2 inch gun for me. never had an issue, and probably rebuilt 80-90 of these engines within last 2-3 years. . just subbed, cheers.
Quite impressive work to be carrying out on the side of the road ,is that the 2.2 very clattery engine but good I have one with 330 k miles on it, quite noisy in comparison to my peugot 2.0 blue and other fiat 2.3 ducato
Fantastic job ❤
Thank you! 😊
Hi mate Quick question oiling the the bolts will that affect the torque settings as there will be slight difference due to resistance in the bottom of the threads ? Cheers
Just creates less friction and prevents the bolt skipping when torquing it down.
@@themobilemechanic1992 cheers 👌
it very much affects the torque of the bolt
@@bencosturbz7755 kinda thought it would as It might cause pressure/resistance with oil and help work the bolt back out ?
Just love watching these vids …. But don’t have a clue about engines but…. At 13.16 in the video, is that some sort of welding it’s had in the past??
Thankyou 😁, think it’s a bit of sealant left from the timing chain cover
Not a bad price for new head and fitting kit that eh. Could always keep that head and get it welded as a spare incase you happen to buy a broken van in the future if they don’t want it as an exchange. Nice job.
Yeh unfortunately it was a surcharge on it. But yes similar price to just the head set etc from fords
Weld it
great video what a mess of pipework on that transit
Tell me about it
where did you get the new cylinder head
TAS in Leeds mate
@@themobilemechanic1992 googled tas lead cant find it
Excellent job well done looking at the engine in bits gave me a headache 😂
You and me Both 😂
😳 done many a clutch and wish they were all as light as the bippers 🤣,work on mainly hgv and plant good vid hope you make more, i would give it a bash if known how to.
Haha yes defo one of the lightest ones out there. Just get your phone and start recording it mate. You’ll enjoy it
Nice job just wondering if you did another compression check once the new head was installed.
Hello, no wasn’t any need to as the engine was running smoothly
Hello mate great video. I have to do this to my nemo, no3 glowplug came up on my lexia. When you warmed up the engine, did you reconnect the wiring to the glowplugs while the engine was running . Thanks
Hello, yes mate you are better off reconnecting them. Easy enough with a pair of long nose pliers
First class video. 👍👍 So clear and well explained. Good to know it can be done without removing the turbo or exhaust. I have the same dash warning on my Nemo with the same engine and I’m wondering whether to do it myself. I can now do the check on the relay to rule that out first. What kind of price would I expect from a garage for all 4 plugs?
Thanks @donbenham3687. You’ll probably be looking around £100 for a garage to do it. Let me know how you get on
@@themobilemechanic1992 where you located ? ( my 1st one - on the left looking at engine, is 90% the way out , but wont come out the reaming 10%! very annoying , been lubing it up like crazy for last week hoping! )
Make sure clean the shaft 😂
🫣😂
Quick tip - Try to tighten the glow plug slightly first. This usually breaks the bond that forms between the steel threads of the glow plug and the aluminum threads in the head. Tightening first works better as the twist exerted on the plug deforms it slightly and actually makes it contract ever so slightly, whereas undoing it may not. You are also less likely to get a situation where parts of the thread inside the head being to break off as they become welded to the plug. Another tip is to take your time! It doesn't mater if it takes you half an hour of gently working the plug back and forth to get it out, it's still faster and cheaper than removing the head! Just remember not to put too much pull on it at any point.
Bonjour, comment avez vous fait pour dévisser le pré catalyseur a l'arrière du moteur car il n'y a pas beaucoup de place ? Merci
The little test at the end against the battery was great, good to see how you can ensure that was the broken part 👍🏽
Thanks mate 😂
So how long are you a mechanic quite a.drame.to cope with on the side of the road ?
To long now Derek 😂
Hi, do you still take on work. Think your in the Chepstow area. Many thanks.
Yes mate still take on work, what do you have?
06 Renault master 1.9dci. Think it's the same as vivaro, need a clutch I think. Do you have a number I can have. Many thanks Dan
this is what happened to mine glow plug cylinder two had snapped and caused bad damage resulting in engine out new piston and rings full rebuild now
Oh really? Snapped trying to get it out or?
No mate they all came out pretty easy it must of snapped before I bought the van because the state of the piston was shocking
Hi, love the video well explained, we have the same problem on our crafter 🤞its able to be rescued ? I don't suppose you work anywhere near the Worcestershire area ?
Of course it’s rescue-able. Unfortunately I don’t. But good luck to you
