That's a proper mechanic. Knows his stuff. Spot on repair and a million times better than a main dealer in terms of price and service.

How much is cost to replace water pump and vacuum pump ??
Nice that the rockers saved the valves from bending, saved alot of money/ engine replacement in this case :) I guess the engine has never been touched/ apart in this one and it was the right call to give it a much needed full service... a reminder to stay ahead of service.
Don't even have a crafter, but your video was very informative and in depth. You even have little tips and tricks to make the job easier.

Nice work, good to see an engine being repaired and not replaced. I rescued a PD 130 A4 Quattro, on 3 cylinders, knackered cam and lifters and also the injector loom, got there with it though. Started up first touch of the key, always a nice feeling. SUBSCRIBED 👍

I wonder how many miles this had done, I had a mechanic tell me I didn't need the timing belt at VW recommended interval because "they are bomb proof" I took it elsewhere and got it done. I'm well impressed you do this outside, its hard graft without the amenities at hand, good man.

My mate drove accidentally (oh yeah, he think it is a chain engine) 225 tkm with 2007 Fiat Ducato (about 8 years) and belt was like new! Yes he was lucky!
@CoreMaster111
2 жыл бұрын
@@april7_ Meanwhile chain, not belt, was rattling at 100 000km and had to be replaced. And it was doing it again 120 000km later. Oh and it costs 2 times the amount a belt replacement would cost. Audi/VW quality. lmao
Excellent job on the repair sir! One interesting thing I've noticed on these VW 2.0 TDi engines is that sometimes when the cambelt snaps, the lobes on the camshafts can shift, because the cams aren't a single machined piece, but rather a shaft with the lobes pressed on. Shifted lobes can really mess you around. Just thought I'd share my experience. Keep up the great work

Wow, I didn't know that. Good tip. Now that you've pointed that out, you can see that the undamaged inlet camshaft is indeed not one piece. But the replacement exhaust camshaft looks like it is a conventional single piece unit.

I think they was lucky this time considering it’s not a no interference engine lol. It was the age that got this one should of been changed 2 years ago so the material perished and as a result stripped the teeth of the belt

excellent work . so pleased the weather was seemingly kind . what went first the rockers or the belt . Amazing there were no bent valves . My 2.5 tdi has one camshaft and it is timed up exactly like the crafter with the slot parallel with the head . there was the fuel pump timing belt on the opposite end of the motor .. well fiddly to get right .

Excellent spanner action and camera work. I didn't realize that modern engines still have pushrods - duuuh. FYI, my mechanic had fun, not, with one of those Gates brand tensioners - the ones with no locating tab , whilst changing the belt on my 64 plate 1.6 Touran. It wouldn't hold tension and he had to get the rep out to witness the fact and supply him with a replacement. I empathise with you people when you've given a figure to do the job, and get let down with parts that don't work

well done .... one criticism......i had some trouble trying to hear what you were saying in some places because of that background music that droned on and on all thru the video......please maybe don't use background music.....the best mechanical videos never use background music......the kind of people who really look for good videos like yours don't come for the music

I did a crafter also about 2 years ago. Belt had slipped.. Was the 2.0 16v tdi. Exactley same job as you but I think the vac pump area was slightly different... Van was a couple years newer. But same results. Garage said engine was scrap I disagreed. Opened it up. All valves good. Set if fingers. And belt kit. And we were away. But I had a bad oil leak on the bavk I couldn't sort out..
