Hi, I'm Britta! An ordinary person with a passion for mustangs and a desire to better myself ❤️
As my channel name suggests, I consider myself on a journey to better myself. I've now worked with several mustangs, and wow have they changed me! They've lead me on a journey of seeking out soft, kinder methods of training.
In addition to seeing some of my own personal journey, you'll see a variety of videos on topics related to mustangs. I cover how to adopt, attend mustang adoptions, cover mustang events, and interview trainers and other influential people in the horse world. I love sharing information and helping to make the experience easier for those looking to give a mustang a home.
I love hearing from you! Feel free to contact me on my website or by mail:

love your videos
i want one sooo bad!
So many cool horses this weekend! We feel in love with two- one a OCL pickup and the other we got outbid on😭
Hey guys! I am still here (flights ended up being canceled) at the adoption event until it ends at 1pm today (6/15/24). Unfortunately, this wasn’t able to upload until now 😔 so some of these horses, including the one with the halter on, were adopted. A lot of them from this video are still available though!
Awesome thanks
Hahaa love it!!! Perfectly done!!!
What happens to those thar are not adopted? 😢
What fun to see two of my favorites.
So, a question... Do the horses 🐎 that went through the program still need the 6 foot high fence, and other precautions that untouched mustangs need??
Love how you explain how they handle the cold. Respect
Jesus loves you! Great job on this video!
Theodore is lovely. Glad the boots helped
I like zara and libby better anyways❤
Thank you for showing your trail ride! My stables don't have a trail ride, so it's nice to go on one virtually!
Beautiful. I like the boots.
Me too!
Prayers for your knee in Jesus name 🙏 amen
Thank you❤
That's the trail ride of my dreams! Glad you were able to get out there!
Me too!! It was so lovely!❤
You have some beautiful countryside. Thanks for taking us along on your lovely trail ride. Love the boots they seem a great idea for barefoot horses. Do you ride bitless too?
Yes! Theodore hasn’t had a bit in his mouth for five years now!😄🙌
❤
Beautiful ride on your gorgeous boy Theodore 😊
Knowing close to nothing about the subject, I’m wondering why there’s only two boots, and not four?
That’s a good question. The front feet naturally carry a heavier load percentage (~60% of a horse’s weight) than the hind. I decided to start at the front, and see how he did. I may end up getting the hinds if it seems he could benefit from them too
Look at you back in the saddle ❤❤😊
I think if the boots work all the better!!❤
California always has bugs
Theo is such a handsome and happy horse, thanks for taking us along on your trailride. (Yes, I'm also a runner, now experiencing a twinge of inner knee pain from my hip flexor, left leg as well.🤔) It's been many years since I rode a horse, so this was fun w/the lovely views of the forest and hills of your green mountain state.💕🐴🍀
Ohh the injuries. Do you do any races? I really miss running😕 I have another foot injury that has put an end to it. at least I can enjoy the trails from horseback 😃
@@TheProjectEquestrian At this rate, I motivate to do only one race per year. It starts 1/2 mi from our house and goes the reverse 5k of my regular route, and that's about all I can do.😂 For many years, I gave up running and other activities in favor of hiking w/my dogs. Your hard work w/the horses is exercise enough, but it's nice to also enjoy the fruits of your labor and time on the trails w/your No. 1.😉
I love Theodore! He is such a beautiful and trustworthy steed!!
He sure is!😃
Oh, we use the easyboot clouds on our founder guy where I work. He was in them for a solid year at first. Now we don't need them unless he has an abscess or loses a shoe, but they are such good quality. Fit isn't always the easiest but it's a nice alternative to wrapping hooves.
I was wondering if the boots would help my foundered pony.
@@almirakline6070 definitely worth asking your vet and farrier about! they are nice and cushy and stay on well as long as they're not going through heavy mud. long term use (in them full time for a year) did make his frogs essentially disintegrate, but we were able to transition him over to glue on and then nail in shoes and his hooves are good now!
Look at that gorgeous country side. A huge lilac bush in bloom and a gorgeous horse to ride ! Nice to see you enjoying your ride ! And I like the shoes I think they look cool !! Thanks for the update I’ve been wondering how your doing ! ❤️🐴
I love lilacs! The season is over, but that’s a late blooming one! Hope you are well!
So much of our great nation is absolutely gorgeous---Vermont being one of the locations that qualifies.
I hope to see more of it from horseback someday! 😄
I'm in New Hampshire and love the forests in both NH & VT. Looks like it was a great trail ride. Ride over, Theodore rolls in the dirt. Ahh...the life of a happy horse!
Hi neighbor! Haha and yes, we are lucky to have such beautiful scenery 🌳
Trail envy! The Easyboot Gloves fit well at first on my Theodore and with a couple of trimmer changes they didn't. My current pair is too narrow now. I need to try a different size or maybe Scoot boots.
Hah! Funny you have a Theodore who had them too!
Ahh I love Theodore it's great to see you riding him. The boots look really good I've not seen those ones. We have some scoot boots which we are getting on quite well with
I’m so thankful im able to do this, even in the midst of a crazy summer! And neat! I’m curious how many people use slip on boots in general!
@TheProjectEquestrian ah I wish we had some summer we are having terrible weather so far this year. We started using the scoot boots on our cob but have been getting on so well with them we are going to get some for my appaloosa and welsh pony too. They seem to be getting a lot more popular lately.
I'd love to see more videos like this! ngl its super soothing *edit: Theodore is gorgeous!
Thank you! I tell him all the time and yet, he remains so humble! 😂 And thank you! I hope to get more 😃
Good to see you riding again! The only easy boot ive used is for my older mini horse when i drive him. Seemed to help
It’s good to be back in the saddle again! Very therapeutic! And neat! That seems very practical!
Have you ever used Easy Boots? If so, what was your experience?
I have been barefoot for 15 yrs with my horses. I've used a lot of different boots over those years and most of them rub the heals. The only ones that I never had any rubbing on are Renegades. I am now trying glue on Easycare versa grip Octo for my summer horse camping trips this year. So far I have had good luck with them. Good luck! 😊
@@laurachynoweth5186thanks for sharing your experience!! I’m interested to see how these work out !
In case you missed the last update where all the horses moved :) kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6ukqJODe5qqhqg.html
First!!
Thanks for being here 😊💜
I love all these videos you do!! Thank you for doing this
I'm so glad! You are so welcom!e
The horse at 6:50 was a BEAST. haha incredible! 👏
I know right!
Happy place for the heart
They all look so incredibly beautiful!
Thank you 😍
I loved seeing the trail ride. I can't wait to see the palette fence! great video <3
I am glad you found time in your busy days to make another video. I enjoy watching people take their dreams to reality, even if it takes tears. Loved seeing the horses and the trail ride.
Aww thank you! I appreciate you watching 💜
What a beautiful trail ride on your gorgeous boy Theadore! They sure are enjoying all that grass and look amazing 😊
They are loving the grass!!🤩
I'm very curious to an update on adoption processes... Since you're adopting the mustangs to gentle them and find their forever homes, and three of them have been available for some time, I wonder if you could shed more light on how you look for new owners, what your priorities are, if it's a struggle to 'adopt them out' or if you're actually very content with how things are right now. Are you looking forward to starting with newly adopted mustangs, what do you continue to work on with the adoption-ready horses, and how is Sparrow coming along? These are just some questions of total judgment-free interests I've been having. Have you considered doing this type of video?
yeah, I am thinking about doing a video on that actually! But I'll share a little here :) So I've kind of reached a point of acceptance, which is a nice place to be. I take it one day at a time. While they are all technically "available" to the right person, I am not currently actively promoting them for sale. First, because the kind of adoption process I'd want to go to is a lengthy one, not a "meet the horse once or twice and decide". I'd want the person to be repeatedly be coming out to work with and get to know the horse. Their "horsemanship philosophy" is extremely important to me, and I'd want to ensure that is a match. I'd also want to be sure the person absolutely adores and treasures the horse for who they are, not who they think they are or might be. This means a lot of time, and a more casual approach. Far different than a lot of horse sales. All those things certainly narrow my pool of potential adopters - I understand i"m asking a lot. The other reason I haven't been actively promoting them is it takes a lot of time to engage in phone calls and emails, and giving up even more precious time for someone to come out repeatedly (with no guaranteed outcome) when I'm already spread thin. I had done that for a while, and it was very challenging to manage with all that I have going on. I really do trust I will find the right people in time, but I don't know when that will be or how they will come about. I've instead come to a place of acceptance (that this is my herd for the time being) and trying to focus instead on things that are in my control. Many of the things going on in this video are trying to do just that - make some upgrades that will eventually result in things being a little easier (particularly at my home). When things get easier, I have more capacity and energy for other things. Much healthier mentality too! After having my herd for so long, I've obviously become quite attached to each. If I landed on a jackpot, I'd keep them all lol. Keeping them long-term isn't sustainable, but I'm trying to do the things that will give me some relief during this season. For the future, I may do something different, such as finding adopters before I bring a horse home, or only taking clients :)
@@TheProjectEquestrian Thank you so much for the lengthy and detailed answer. This clears up a lot for me about your intention of gentling mustangs in the first place. The focus really is on finding their forever home, wherever it may be, and not "helping as many as possible" (because keeping them for longer means any potential new projects have to wait). I admire and respect your philosophy a lot. Honestly, it shouldn't be possible to take one look at a horse and adopt it, they ask too much responsibility. Thanks again for taking the time to answer so elaborately :) Best of luck with your current projects!
You are welcome !! 😊😊
The "before and after" on Sparrow is kind of MIND BLOWING. All of your horses are gorgeous---but I think Sparrow is taking the prize right now. You're quite an inspiring person---thank you for the peek inside your busy life. I'm so glad you got to go trail riding once again.
Right, she looks so different! Don't tell the others, but I also think Sparrow is the prettiest of all lol I'll often be doing work outside and catch myself pulling my shades down to get better looks at her lol #obsessed
@@TheProjectEquestrian lol! You should be proud---she's come a loooong way, training-wise too.
All of your horses are beautiful, they all look amazing, it must have felt so good to be riding again too, you certainly are a very busy young lady, kudos to you, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
They are a lovely bunch! and yes, riding was amazing! I look foward to more! Thank you Julie!!
Add me to the fans-of-dappled-buckskins category. Weirdly, my buckskin gal is only dappled when wearing her winter coat, and not dappled when she sheds out in spring. Go figure. Your horses look great and they're clearly enjoying their new digs with all that green grass!
huh, that is interesting! I didn't know you had a buckskin too!
@@TheProjectEquestrian Variety is the spice of equestrian life. 😀 1 sorrel, 1 red dun, 1 chestnut, 1 buckskin, and 1 who can't decide if he wants to be a light bay with dark points or in the buckskin spectrum depending on the time of year. I shot a video of my herd with a drone to upload, but KZread busted me for music copyright and I've never gotten around to reworking it. I should do that.
I wish i could get the black moutain mustang that is online for July 2024
Love the barn cat mine looks like it😆🫣
