I have a Curly. He is the smartest, healthiest and most willing horse I have ever been around. He is the horse that everyone, who comes to visit, wants to meet. I’ve had some amazing offers from several people who wanted to buy him too. I’m not a horse trader and would never sell a friend. I can highly recommend them as a life long companion. I also have a mustang. He and my Curly are fast companions. In fact my Curly, Apache, came to me when my mustang was in the beginning stages of colic. He took me to Stony, my mustang, and helped me to get him back to the paddock so we could call a Vet. Two thumbs up from this horseman for both mustangs and Curlies. So worth the time and effort to get to know them, to form a bond with.

The curlies look cool! Sturdy, but nice. The do look a lot like American curlies, the breed. I do believe breeders of those horses are really interested in the wild curlies to expand the blood lines. Probably why mostly geldings are available.

The wild curlies usually have a different curly gene than the Bashkirs do. I think they should add a lot more of them to the genepool, if they have the right genetics, because most Bashkirs have a gene that causes broomtails and thinner coats. Some of the other genes are preferable.

Hi I just found your channel today. I've been watching Clever Cowgirl who is based in Montana for a bit over a month and she currently has a 2y.o reservation filly that was only 6m.o and $25 at a loose horse auction. A lot of her horses have sad back stories of mistreatment at the hands of previous humans. I look forward to learning more about Mustangs through your videos. ❤ 🇦🇺 Australia has a wild horse population too, but we call them Brumbies.

Curlies! (Like me.👩🏼‍🦱) Do all of them have high tails? They look confident in their carriage. As a non-horsewoman (but a dog rescuer), my guess is that adopting/buying mustangs from a photo is perhaps a better bet than it would be w/domesticated horses (unless one is a horse rescuer). While considered “feral”, most haven’t been imprinted on negatively by humans yet. It’d be interesting to go up to NH for this, though I’m not adopting. 8:55 “Ooh! My little baby…” You said it, that’s a sign, Britta.😂 11:37 Black Beauty, one of my faves.🖤

Yes! That black mare is a tank and is in my BLM account's saved favorites. Every single horse I'd added to favorites has a bid, including #8340 with a bid presently at $5,000. The extra stout built mustangs from 14.2 hands and up usually do well. Us guys have a little harder time finding mustangs that fit if we go by the, (I think outdated), rule of rider and tack weight equal to or less than 20% of the horses weight. In the US, the average weight of men over age 20 is just under 200 lbs. Add a 30-40 lb. saddle and it can be a trick to find a mustang that's a fit. Every single horse 15 hands and up in this auction has a bid. Off hand, I don't recall any 15 - 15+ hand mustangs that went without bids(?) It's a bonus to find a horse that fits the saddles we already have, too. Mine are all FQHB, (full quarter horse bar), saddles. Some breeds, like Arabians, have a high tail carriage. It doesn't look like the tail set of the Curlies is high, so I think it's mostly about what's going on in their mind at the time. Scared horses are like deer; up goes the tail. Being wild, plus separated and being flagged in a pen is super stressful.

I know 😂 I can’t believe that slipped out of my mouth so naturally 😂 Yea, like Jim mentioned, it’s more a nervous behavior. AlThough that is a really common misconception. I’ve definitely heard that in various novel-type books

@@jimmyyounger618 Yes, Arabian was my first thought, but I wasn’t sure if this breed shows up strongly in mustangs? I also wonder what accounts for the curlies and why the OR mustangs are bigger. Even as a little kid with my dog photography book, I could identify many different breeds, even mixes. (Same with car makes and models!) Yet while I always liked horses and cats, I never knew nearly as much about them, so this is all very interesting to me.😉
