    There is also a wedge between playing an online game you love/hate, and an offline game you are mildy amused by.

    Bloodborne was my first "Souls" experience when finally decided to by a PS4 so long ago. Holy hell, was I not prepared for any of that at the time. Damn near ruined the whole series of games for me. Luckily I stuck with it. Sekiro and DS1 are the only two I haven't touched.

    You know, the complaints about the dungeons reminded me of the Chrysler Building in Parasite Eve 1. It is a question that interests me, because those long segments of grinding and the same tune over and over again certainly didn't raise red flags for most players back in 1998.

    I remember it well (and still hope for a PE remake one day!). Something that interests/depresses me nowadays is how often I meet someone who wasn’t alive in 1998 😂

    Awesome video as always! Assassin’s Creed is one popular series I just can’t get into for some reason, but I did enjoy the second game. I never beat it but I played it the most! I want to get back into the series soon to give it another try. I have Valhalla and Origins on my shelf. I’m really interested in those two.

    Thanks buddy! It’s a series of extreme highs and lows. Definitely recommend Odyssey, I put hundreds of hours in and stayed on long after the platinum and all the dlc. It’s got such a good vibe to it! Valhalla was when they really drove it into the ground. Could take or leave 😕

    The last game that consumed me was RDR2. Played it every time I could, even for just 20 minutes. Ever since finishing it, I haven’t had that same passion. It’ll come back one day when the right game catches me at the right time. After all, it’s just a hobby. And not even a very healthy one

    I've had some time off from work due to an injury lately and found that I feel less burned out on gaming if I can just identify what I'm in the mood to play and just play that. I've dabbled in probably 10 different games in that time and finally played through Kingdom Hearts. Journey before destination. Doing things just to say they're done isn't satisfying and just causes stress.

    I am an Warzone addict. I smashed my Chair to the wall and broke my keyboard to pieces, i crunched it so hard that my hands started to bleed. It drives me crazy, i was covered in sweat completely. I killed an streamer 3x but he killed me once and won the game and started talking shit in game chat and his twich chat, i was going to search for this Person but couldn't find any info where he lives. Idk what to do, yet i still jump on this game every night for 2-3 hours. I am actually good at it and have many wins, so i don't know why it drives me crazy. Idk what to do.

    This video made me realize I’ve already reached this point when I left social media and stopped watching game reviews and walkthroughs and focused on one game at a time. There was a time when I began starting games and then jumping between them which was a fun break. I feel it’s good to have that discipline and balance your time but it’s ok to cut yourself some slack and try out new things every once in a while. One problem I have now though. How do you balance content creation with videogames? You said you took a step back and that alleviated it and are now back to content creation. Do you still feel the same way when you left and if not, why? How did you come to that?

  • @backlogbaldie
    @backlogbaldie9 күн бұрын

    Excellent questions! I am still very passionate about content creation, but having a life and a full time job are very hard things to balance with it. I often finish games well in advance of them featuring in videos. I write scripts on public transport, and I work on videos for a few hours at a time where I can (I set timers so I don’t overdo it and burn out) around all my other obligations. There are other factors too. Like I had two weeks leave in April and that let me smash through a huge chunk of backlog games, but equally my day job becomes insane over the summer so my creation schedule will slow down these next few months because I just won’t have the energy. KZread is easily the hardest thing I have ever done, but I really enjoy it, and I think that’s the secret. If you love what you do, you’ll find a way.

  • @InjusticeJosh
    @InjusticeJosh4 күн бұрын

    @@backlogbaldie Writing scripts ahead of time sounds good. I thought I felt lazy for having them sit there. Do you think your opinion changes or you don’t remember/feel the same enthusiasm for a topic in an already written script? That’s a worry of mine. But hey despite your personal responsibilities, you still seem to upload once a week which is a great feat so props to you on that.

  • @backlogbaldie
    @backlogbaldie4 күн бұрын

    @@InjusticeJosh that can happen but I find reading the script aloud before I record helps me remember, and whenever needed I can review footage or fire up the game again too. And thank you! 😊

    Wait, people have games on thier list that are onlu there bc they feel like they *have* to play them? No way. My Gamer's Map is 300 games deep but they are all titles I either want to experience, or want to explore. The one hour rule seems fair enough.

    Disagree with the 'play at least an hour'. For games with long intros (e.g. your example of MGSV) sure. But for the majority of games? The intro is very similar to the rest of the game and no point forcing yourself to play a game.

    One thing to keep in mind about "saying no" to a particular game: it's not necessarily a permanent decision. It may be weeks, months, or years later, but I often rediscover the interest that I originally had in playing a game I dropped. When I find that desire to play again, I jump into it. Some of those games even become my all time favorites

Im not the biggest fan of the early game, but abyss watchers and beyond is the best experience ive had while gaming. i prefer elden ring on a whole, but end game dark souls 3 is a lot better then elden ring end game, imo. twin princes is also my favourite boss oat.

    My comfort games are stardew valley, animal crossing new horizon and pokemon (currently scarlet). I can play them while having youtube in the background and that makes it nice to just relax. There is also no time restrain, I know what is going to happen or I know I am not in any "danger" by not being fully present with the game and I like that, kind of like listening to music in the background.
