DustBugs Travel

DustBugs Travel

We're a husband and (camera-shy) wife, two normal working city dwellers who happen to love the back roads and dusty tracks where people often forget to go. And this is where we find the coolest people, critters and places which we just have to share with all of you.

We work for a few weeks or months, often Monday to Sunday, and escape the traffic and crowds every so often when we run away to small towns, mountains, plains, rivers and everything else nature has to offer. We sometimes visit a few bigger towns and cities too to broaden our horizons a little. We don't own an off-road vehicle and rent the smallest vehicles with the highest ground clearance we can find.

New videos as and when we have the time to edit and upload between work commitments.

    There was a,place back in 1992 called embassy flats,I,wonder if it is still there,had a lot of cockroaches lol. Anyways,my father and I walked down the street to buy a newspaper and we passed a sort of Victorian style dinner or hotel with a lot of ceiling fans and we had a coke there,wonder if it is still there? I dont have a clue where it is situated though? It had a,blue painted roof. I remember the humidity was quite high that day,I,could hardly breathe, wonder if it is,higher than in Durban at times?

    I'm not familiar with Embassy Flats or the Victorian diner , but I don't know the city that well. I've spent quite a bit of time in both Durban and East London and EL is nowhere near as humid as Durban in my experience. 😅

    WHO Pays for the fuel and servicing on these continuous jaunts ?

  • @DustBugsTravel
    @DustBugsTravelКүн бұрын

    Our trips cover very long distances, so are hardly jaunts. We finance them ourselves, but we have recently begun to receive accommodation and fuel sponsorships to help cover the costs. Because we rent a vehicle each time, we aren't responsible for any servicing. 🚙

    We visited a few Cape Town suburbs as part of our local series about 18 months ago and quite a few major tourist attractions in and close to the city about five months ago, but have now covered as much of Cape Town and surrounds as we intend to. We will now focus on exploring towns outside our home province of the Western Cape. 🚙

    Robertson is a place Roger and I visited quite frequently. We would also visit Ashton's Platform 62 for lunch and a glass of wine. Then go through to Montague. Didn't take you long to find a station, and what a beautiful one. Nice to know it still is used. Robertson station is amazing. Feel right at home there with all that wine around. Lovely steam locomotives. Love the tree lined streets and old buildings.

    A most impressive town with beautiful tree-lined streets and manicured lawns. I couldn't spot a single piece of litter, nor a single pothole! What really caught my attention (besides the beauty of the DR church itself) was the phenomenal craftsmanship of the woodwork/carpentry contained within the church. The superb locomotive "Amanda" and the coaches on a functional train track was an awesome find. Thank you.

    So awesome! Glad i found your channel while just looking for where to find the Church in Leliefontein. And now i see you took this pass which is just a bit southern from our "holiday farm", and I've always been scared to take that road because it's said to be in bad condition. I think it's the best way of documenting it and I'm definitely going to take this pass next time I want to go to Nieuwoudtville from our farm. There's another lovely road to take, also making a loop, just northern from Die Hel, but for that one you do need a 4x4, and it goes through our farm

The Methodist church so white it could have been made from icing super. The NGK church was stunning loved the colour and the silver spire the interior was amazing beautiful tree lined streets gave a calm vibe compared to the cbd witch was buzzing as you said the town thrives on the wine industry .loved the bi lingual parrots.the flamingos did look like statues ( I had a funny experience in Epcot centre in Florida I said its amazing how real those statues are my wife and daughter looked at me like I was mad they said there real then one moved lol ) loved the town thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one .

Vir my was dit “a travel down memory lane “met die video, ek kyk dit in my woonplek in Australië. Baie dankie vir die video’s….baie insiggewend. Veilig reis deur mooie Suid Afrika.
